Holy smokes! Honey, I am sooo sorry this happened. You are doing a great thing for yourself and should be very proud of what you have accomplished. I don't have much more to add than what everyone else has said is right. I just also wanted to say that we are here for you! -
Hey PRmuchacho...I sent ya a PM. Welcome to the group!

I know I posted this on another thread but wanted to make sure you guys saw it. Please be careful with alcohol as we are dropping weight and getting fills. I'm not sure what happened to me yesterday, if it was the first time drinking at this fill level or a combination of a couple other things. Yesterday I was in a controlled drinking environment for training and had four normal sized rum and cokes. I blew a .14. Now I know in the past I have drank waaay more than this and not had a severe problem. Well, I ended up with a ride in an ambulance and six hours in the ER with no memory really prior to the ER and very little memory of the first couple hours there. Violent throwing up was also involved and apparently I smelled as though I drank a hell of a lot more than what I did. I've read that alcohol will be absorbed quicker now that we are banded but I never would have figured it to be like this. Sooo please be careful. Side note: They x'rayed everything and my band is still in place and where it needs to be. I'm doing better but still a little shaky today and my throat and chest hurt from all the throwing up. Back on liquids (non-alcoholic, lol) for a few days just to be on the safe side.
-
Good Pippin...stay far, far, away! I wish I had the willpower back then. Probably wouldn't have needed the band then, lol. No way anyone should be eating those and whoever created that probably has a side business for diet pills or something.
-
Sooo before the band...I ate a Fried Twinkie. Like eating a twinkie wasn't bad enough, I had to have a FRIED one. I could just feel my arteries clogging as I was eating it.
-
Just be careful though. I haven't "hopped" to alcohol yet and have had no problems so far with drinking....until yesterday. I'm not sure if it a combination of things or maybe because this is the first time drinking at this fill level. Yesterday, I was in a controlled environment, drinking as a volunteer for a police academy class, and had four rum and cokes. Only blew a .14....which is legally drunk but not really all that high. Landed me a ride in an ambulance to the ER. Spent roughly six hours in the ER with no memory of being taken by ambulance and very little memory of the couple hours in the ER. Soooo, just a word of warning to take it easy if you are out drinking Side note, they did x-ray me since I had been throwing up and dry heaving so much. The band is ok. I'm going to put myself on liquids (non-alcoholic, lol) for a couple days as a precaution.

I'm just jealous of you guys. Even when I was in high school and weighed nothing while playing field hockey, etc, I still had a big ol' butt! Now that I'm down 30+ lbs, I see the weight coming off of other areas but I believe I'm still going to have the badonkadonk....Sooo sad.

I'm glad this thread is here.... Faith: Maybe you should keep a tirade saved in a Word file and everytime someone posts something like that, you can copy and paste it into the thread?
-
Owwwwwww.....my chest hurts! When will I learn that an egg roll (even half of one) does not agree with me???? :faint: Sorry, I just needed to whine for a second. I'm all better now.

Hey BB...maybe you aren't eating enough? Sometimes when that happens the body goes into chipmunk mode and hoards it because it thinks it's starving. Can you try adding another protein shake or something that you won't pb on to boost it a little and see what happens? Nice to meet you Ann....my name is Elisha. :bounce:

It's only normal if you add a half cup of nails to it... Hey travelgirl...the nails came up on dwlz.com. I know it's translated to weight watchers points but i think it comes out to like 2 points per half cup...
-
WASA, I responded back to that thread too...it might have been kinda harsh but I'm grouchy and it pissed me off. Come on, one day of liquids??? Get through it.

On pre-op liquid diet...I'M STARRRVVVINGGG...I cheated :-/ ...I need support!!
FarmerE replied to Whatnow24's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Wasa...I totally agree with your statement that if someone can't do liquids for one day then what happens post op? This is a lifestyle change and if you are already figuring ways around cheating the band or not fighting through it during the first day of pre-op diet...are you sure that you are ready to be banded? I'm not saying that you aren't ready...just need to push through it a little more. We've all been there and yes, it is hard. But one day? Come on...toughen up a bit. You'll be on a liquid diet post op, and then to a mushie diet, and then to soft foods, or what not depending on your doctor. (Mine was liquid diet pre-op, two weeks liquids post op, two weeks mushies, then on to solids.) Yes everyone one is different and yes, some have done things they shouldn't have and come out of it ok. But that doesn't necessarily make it ok. I'm also required to go back on liquids for two days and mushies for two days after a fill. More than likely you'll have to do something similar Your doctor is responsible for you and how he does the surgery. He's comfortable and doing things for a reason. Check out the boards...look for recipes...and get through this part. You'll be fine. I'm honestly not trying to be mean....just trying to be honest -
A big cop banging on the door at 2am might get them to shut it....

Oh yeah...my random post.... There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them. :faint:

People do some weird things. When I went for my first post-op visit, my doc told me I had lost weight and yay, way to go. I told him it seems to be very hard to NOT lose weight if you are only drinking things. That's when he told me he had a patient that drank an entire bowl of gravy! Ewwww But then again, I'm not a big one to talk. Towards the end of my mushie stage, I took a small piece of steak and threw it in the Magic Bullet with reduced sodium soy sauce. Ate like two tablespoons and was satisfied with it. My brother used to eat corn and ketchup. Blah....

Hey Suzzzie, what airport would you be flying out of? Sometimes the connecting flights can be cheaper for me and if there is one that stops out your way, I can meet you there and continue on....
-
Suzzzie - Yay! I also did the happy dance for you. That's awesome. Welcome back Hotty Toddy

I'm also in for any of the dates. I work shift work so it doesn't take much for me to get a couple days off in a row...weekend or weekday.

Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you

Whatever...I'm going to stop counting when I turn 29. :biggrin1: -
I like cats. Tastes good with Kung Pao sauce as that's what the chinese place next to the animal hospital uses....
-
Nope....just lay your head on your scale. Well, on the days that you are being called "Fat Head" your band is probably too loose and you are eating too much. Go get a fill. On the "Pin Head" days you probably aren't eating enough and too tight. Go get an unfill.
