Nightmare PA from Hell!
gia24 replied to BIZZYBIZZYBEE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I started a few months ago. I've yet to meet anyone really. I live in East Mesa, feel free to pm or whatever. I came here to look for support and learn about others experiences. I'm scared but excited, it seems like since I got my date and approval letter the days are flying by! I'll definitely keep you in my prayers! Good luck! -

Well Mary told me Ashley would call me on Friday the 19, but I never heard from her, emailed Mary and on Tuesday the 23rd Adept Ashley called and apologized apparently the list they have messes up and my name was missing, but once I emailed Mary, they researched it and found me, I got my date right then, I chose a Monday since that's one if my days off, I check in at 11 surgery at 1, and it was all pretty easy, got my pre-op date too, which is the day I start my liquid diet 8/5 I can't have anything until after the testing, since you have to fast. Then they email a list of dates and info on your follow up appt and pre-op diet and what to expect. -

Depends on your insurance, my stuff was submitted on 7/9 and I got an approval 7/16, I was told 14 business days, even my insurance company called earlier on 7/16 to go over my requirements and told me I would probably have a decision on 7/31. Mary called me later that afternoon to say I was approved. So I guess it depends on your history, and insurance co. I have United health care. -

The psych eval was easy, the paperwork portion was longer than the interview, I used a Dr. on the list Dr. Juarez's office provided. He cleared me after our interview. -

Hopefully you get your approval soon! -
I've chosen not to tell my extended family, my husband and kids know, 2 closest friends, and my favorite cousin, that's it. My extended family isn't supportive and I just don't care to include them in this part of my life, my husband and kids are super supportive and that's all I need. Other than that, it's no one's business. I've found people tend to be negative or give unsolicited advice or commentary on my choice. So I've left them out of the equation.

I'm getting sleeved on 8/19, start pre-op diet 8/5, I have my pre-op testing that same day so I have to fast my first day of my liquid diet, can't eat until after my testing is done, so should be interesting! -

I'm getting sleeved by Dr. Juarez on Aug 19. His office is very good, and been helpful through the whole process. I did all my requirements and got my approval in a week. Can't wait, excited but still nervous of the surgery and praying all goes well. -
I am having my surgery at St. Luke's in PHX, with Dr. Juarez, Abdominal Surgeons is his practice and he works with Bridges AZ. Very good Dr. Spent a lot of time with me in my appointment with him, and it depends on your insurance requirements what you need to do. Unless you're paying cash. His office lays everything out for you, and they help you get everything in order to get you approved, but ultimately it's up to your insurance. My surgery is Aug 19th.

That really sucks! My classes were free. Put on by the surgeon, hospital and weight loss center. I couldn't imagine having to pay for that those classes. Considering everything we have to go through just to get an approval and surgery date, you'd think that would be free.
-
You pay for the class?
-
Oh and prayers that you don't get people who know it all and have to add commentary to everything, making the classes longer, like my classes did! Lol
-
Why so long? I had to attend 2 classes 2 hours long but somehow always went over. But was glad to spread them out.
-
Today, I got my paperwork from my surgeon detailing everything, and from my insurance company, confirming that they approved my surgery, it's very surreal, 10 days from today I start my pre op diet, then surgery on Aug 19th, it's something I wanted for a very long time, just a little scared and nervous about my new life.
-
Finally got my date! They lost my info, but found it after I kept bugging them! Lol! Surgery is August 19, start my liquid diet on August 5th! So excited!
-
I just got my approval, only shared with my husband and kids, 2 friends and cousin, I don't want to share with anyone else because of the negative comments I got when I would talk about the surgery, so I've kept my surgery process and approval quiet and I'll do the same for my surgery, which I find out the date this Friday. I have 200+ to lose and optimistic that I'll do ok. Just gotta stay focused.

Any one with United Health Care insurance
gia24 replied to lizy0916's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have UHC and after my 6 month weight loss attempt, psych eval, ekg, pulmonary, Dr recommendation, surgeon submitted 7/10, was called yesterday 7/16 by insurance regarding my choice and understanding of the requirements for wls then was told I'd have a decision by 7/30. Later yesterday I got a call from my patient advocate that I was approved! Only took a week! Find out Friday my surgery date! -
Congrats Dee!

I got the call earlier today that I was approved! Only took a week for my insurance to approve!! Find out my surgery date on Friday for August sometime!
-
My patient advocate just submitted my paperwork today, she tells me it takes 2 weeks or so to get a response, and then I will get my surgery date in August, so I am praying all goes well and I get approved! Fingers crossed!!
-
I plan on it, I figure I will call them tomorrow and make sure they received everything. It has been a long process and I have been back and forth, but the thought of dying and leaving my children and husband is too much for me not to finally get myself healthy and make sure I am around for my familia for a long time! Thank you for the kind words I am so excited!!
-
I just contacted my patient advocate and she was missing my cardiac clearance, so she didn't submit my paperwork like she should have a few weeks ago, I was able to scan and email it to her and she just submitted it today, so now it's the waiting game, she says typically it takes 2 weeks to get approval, and now they are scheduling surgeries for August, so looks like I won't be a July Sleever, but I am just glad I have had my documents submitted and hopefully I will get my approval in 2 weeks, so I can get sleeved in August!! Wish me luck!!
