I too am getting what I think to be reflux after every bite I eat. It's frustrating! Do you think switching from Prilosec to a generic has something to do with it?

Could you elaborate on the issues she's having? My gallbladder was removed Jan 2011 and sleeved 04/30/13. It took a while for me to return to a normal diet after gallbladder removal because my appetite changed and foods I once loved repulsed me. I remember eating a lot malt-o-meal, biscuits and gravy, and soup afterwards. Watch out for high fat foods like Mexican (yum, yum) Super greasy and high fat foods would be have me running to bathroom in no time. Two weeks after removal the “gallbladder attack” symptoms returned (uncomfortable, hard to breathe, chest felt heavy) and it turned out I had some leftover stones remaining in the bile duct that had to be pushed out.

Hi Angel. You are not alone. I too felt ashamed and scared when I finally made my decision. More like I was in denial since I kept telling myself that I could lose it on my own at 5'4" and 380 pounds. Don't feel ashamed, admitting that you need help is the first step in the right direction. Go to the seminar next week and see what they have to say. My husband was against the surgery at first but once the surgeon said stay fat and die or get sleeved and live, it changed his attitude and now he is very supportive. It sounds like you are prepared for the change in diet to follow and if your insurance will cover it then what do you have to lose? Good luck to you and hugs.

When I get sick of the shakes I will drink a glass of Mootopia. It's a lactose free milk that has 12g of protein per cup and the chocolate is yummy.

Cory your timeline sounds right on par with what I went through. Had seminar and first consult with surgeon on 02/27 and sleeved on 04/30. Have BCBS...no 6 month waiting period and I had a few co-morbidities. Congratulations on the surgery date and don't let that coworker get you down. You will soon learn who to share your journey with and the rest can all go sit on it.

Charobated drinks like Mineral what
kimmysmash replied to sunshiinej1's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am I am I am six weeks post op and tried mineral water for the first time the other day with no issues. The water was at room temperature and I poured it over glass full of ice. It wasn't too fizzy and I had no problems sipping on it. -
Agree with Ms skinnines, you might be able to take larger sips, but you won't know til you try. I am 5 weeks post op and only "sipped" at the very beginning (first week?) I now take "sips" about half the size of what I did pre-op and it feels normal to me. Sometimes when I am thirsty I might take a drink that is too big and I can tell right away cause my sternum will hurt for a minute.

Need some tips... Hit my first stall
kimmysmash replied to Denn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am right there with you! It can drive you mad Sleeved 04/30, on the pureed stage and have been stalled for over three weeks now. I have quit weighing myself cause it was just pissing me off and just focus on getting my protein and water in. Something has gotta give eventually. -
What OTC acid reducer did you take 3 days post op?
kimmysmash replied to heatwhip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Prilosec otc (little purple pill you swallow) before I go to bed every night. This is what my surgeron recomended. Before I started the prilosec (1 week post op) I would wake up in the morning hamster hungry to the point of being nauseos but I was told that was the acid in my stomach. I have not had any issues since starting the prilosec. My surgeon did say to avoid Tums since it has calcium and it will releive the heartburn initially but the calcium gets the acid juices going again so you end up in a continious loop. -
Sleevers over 300lbs?
kimmysmash replied to dstined4gr8tnes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are definetely not alone! My surgeon also suggested bypass as an option for me. At 5' 4" my highest weight was 380 at time of consultation and I couldn't beleive the scale! Something had to be done... My sleeve was done on 04/30/13 and I am currently sitting at 347 and have been for over a week
