    Speaks English and Uses Dermabond

I had Dr. Lopez who works with Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Osuna. Both Dr. Lopez and Dr. Lopez did my surgery. Dr. Ortiz followed up with me one of the days and Dr. Lopez came to my hotel room the last night to check everything out and to tell me about after care and diet. I was extremely happy with them.

sleeved 6/17 why am I not losing WTF

I am 6 days out and up to my pre-op weight! I can see that my feet and legs are totally swollen up with fluids. I am looking at it like it is banked weight loss that I will see when my system get back to normal. The best thing is that I am so not hungry! So relax and be patient...think about how happy you will be when your system starts behaving itself!
  3. I am off to Mexico next week for my surgery. I was hoping some of the veterans on this board could give me some info on the Marriott. My husband is coming with and I just wanted to know some of the features of the hotel and room. Thanks!

    Info on the Marriott, please?

Kathryn, Thank you for the reply. I have been on the website but was looking for the inside story that only those who have been there would know. Thanks for the info. I guess I don't need to bring pillows which is a relief because I am trying to travel light!

    Info on the Marriott, please?

Oops! I didn't think of that! Tijuana!! Thanks.
  6. WoW! All I can say is that this forum helped me decide to go forward with my surgery. My insurance company does not cover any kind of WLS so I thought I would never be able to get it. For me, I believe this is a life-saving measure. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, back pain, asthma, etc. It is hard to perform daily tasks including working for a living. I do not want to go into debt to finance my surgery and finding out about Mexico was a true blessing. All I can say is my sincere thanks to all those who have shared their Mexican experiences on this board. It has made me feel more comfortable with my choice. And remember...if you don't have something nice to say....don't say anything!

    June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"

Thanks for the list. Please add me for June 17th! Good luck everyone!
  10. I did contact my coordinator and basically this sounds like a business decision by a doctor. I do not think anything is wrong with this hospital. This is big business for these doctors and hospitals. If there was a problem, it would be taken care of. Patients should not be put in the middle of squabbles between rival companies and hospitals but I fear that is what is happening here. I would reprint what my coordinator emailed me but I think they say what puts them in a better light against their competition. I just think it has very little to do with us patients. I know I have confidence in the decision I made to use MI Hospital and Dr. Lopez.
  11. I am there June 17th also. Let us know what you find out. Thanks!

How do you know if you have Sleep Apnea?

My sleep apnea diagnosis came after a very scary time. I had trouble staying awake all the time. I went to work and fell asleep there, (Very embarrassing!) As soon as I got up in the morning the only thing I could think of was when I could go back to bed. When I came home from work I went to sleep. This continued for several weeks. I seriously thought I was dying. One day on my way to work I drove off the road, thankfully the bump of going up on the curb woke me and I recovered control quickly. After that, my husband drove me back and forth to work every day. I fell asleep in the car on the way and on the way home. Like I said, I thought I was dying. Then I finally got in to see my doctor who sent me to a specialist, The sleep doctor set me up for a sleep study. All this took about 8 weeks. Finally I got my diagnosis and my CPAP machine. I had some trouble getting used to it but did not give up. Make sure you get a mask that is comfortable for you. Anyway, it changed my life. Used to sleep until noon or later when I did not have to get up. Always felt tired even after that. The doctor explained that I was never getting into a deep sleep, so never rested truly. Now I get up in the morning whether or not I need to and I am no longer continually tired. Just telling you this because if you have sleep apnea you need treatment, whether it is a CPAP or BiPAP machine. It is not something to ignore, I would have had it treated sooner if I had known about the condition. I had never heard of it. Best wishes to you!
  13. Just wondering....Does anyone know of someone being turned down for surgery once they are in Mexico? I was reading the contract the coordinator sent and it says that they are not responsible for airfare if you are turned down once in Mexico. I was a little concerned if that is an issue very often. I think I probably am just anxious and don't want anything to go wrong.
