Crystal light
mrs.petethecat replied to flyme_places's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to drink Crystal Light non stop but find I no longer like the taste. Don't know why but just can't stand it. I am using Mio and Publix brand. Seem to like these better. Funny how things change especially when you have a pantry full of something! -
This made me laugh out loud!

For those on the other side - am I gonna need help after?
mrs.petethecat replied to vsginkc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are the kind of person who likes company, I would not hesitate to have someone come and stay for a couple of days as long as they understand that you may be "in and out." Snoozing, resting and maybe not always wanting to be social. My hubby cared for me, getting things for me, helping me shower, and getting my fluids and shakes. I really enjoyed having someone there. Good luck and best wishes to you. I am sure things will go well for you! -

Dr. Lopez, MI Hospital, June, Advice!
mrs.petethecat posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am scheduled in June with Dr. Lopez at MI Doctors Hospital. I am very anxious and was hoping that you all could tell me what I need to know. I am interested in other people's experiences, and especially those who have used Dr. Lopez and A Lighter Me. I also would like to know what I need to bring with me. Anything that I need to know but may not even be aware that I need to know would be appreciated. Thanks! -
Will swimming help with this??? I am also interested in this topic.

Flying home after surgery
mrs.petethecat replied to Kristen125's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
If you can bring a small pillow to put between you and the arm of the seat. Some people use it to put between the seat belt and your incisions. I flew from San Diego to Tampa with a plane change in Denver. There was a LONG walk to change gates. Make sure you allow plenty of time if you have gate changes. Best wishes to you! -
Dr Lopez and your experience with a lighter me
mrs.petethecat replied to Lareina007's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had surgery with Dr.Lopez on 6/17/13. He and his team were great! I booked through A Lighter Me and was well taken care of. I found them all to be very thorough with each of four doctors going over my history before surgery. Very happy with the outcome...33lbs in 6 weeks. May not be as much as some peop0le, but for me ( typically a very slow loser) this is great. Could not ave done it on my own! Good luck to you. Any questions email me. -

You probably will not be hungry after surgery. I had a nine hour flight back and did not want anything, just Gatoraid. I took sodium citrate 3 days before and everything happened over the next 2 days so flying was no problem. Wishing you well with your travels, surgery and recovery! -

Dr. Alejandro López Ortega or Dr. Louisiana Valenzuela ?
mrs.petethecat replied to sugarpop's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When Dr. Lopez visited me the last evening before I went home, he talked to me about taking vitamins, diet, and making sure I got enough protein. My coordinator sent me the post-op diet instructions before my surgery. -
Gained weight after Surgery

Me too! Weighed the same as before my pre-op diet when I came home. Took about 10 days to come off, but more came off with it. -

I had surgery with Dr. Lopez on June 17th. I thought his whole team was wonderful. Before surgery, I was visited by 4 doctors who all went over my history with me. I had minimal pain and the follow-up care was great. The A Lighter Me team in Mexico was very good as well...nice people. I am down 29lbs. Best of luck to you! -

HOSPITAL ACCOMMODATIONS 4 FRIEND/FAMILY
mrs.petethecat replied to newmeby50's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeved at MI Doctor on June 17th. My room had 2 beds and my husband slept in the other bed for 2 nights. Spent 2 nights at the Marriott (1 pre-op and 2 post-op). It was included in my package. -
Can someone please tell me why a Type II Diabetic should not be in ketosis? I have done the Atkins diet many times before being sleeved. It was successful short term but it was always difficult to get into ketosis. I have seen several posts that say diabetics should not get into ketosis because it is dangerous. Can anyone explain. Thanks for your response.

TES Thank you so much for that article! I have been so confused and this explains everything!

Thanks for this post. It is full of interesting suggestions! Almond flour makes awesome pancakes and is low in carbs. There are several recipes on-line. Also check out this website: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/ It has lots of ideas.

I agree with Susan. I flew from San Diego to Florida and used a small pillow between me and the arm of the seat. Got lots of walking in due to long walks getting to my flight and between gates on the change over. Best wishes to you.
