  1. 8 weeks is the craziest thing I've ever heard, seriously, they only told me 6 weeks after my C-Section and that was MUCH closer to the area than where the lapband and incisions will be.
  2. Hi, I've found this thread to be very interesting and I had a couple of things to add. First of all, I have my consultation scheduled for 6/25 but talking w/the nurse on the phone she said I would have to drink slim fast between 800/1000 calories for 7 to 10 days before surgery. Hearing this, I would love to do something like the high protein for two weeks, that was one of the only diets I could ever stick to for a couple of weeks anyway, I mean at least they get to chew! Also, is there maybe a certain weight or overweight that your liver is more at risk? I was wondering if this is the difference in why some require the pre-op and some do not. For example, if I am 80lbs overweight as opposed to 200lbs overweight does that make a difference in the preop diet request? Just wondering...
  3. I have my apt. for my consultation and if all goes well I should be scheduled for surgery within a couple weeks following. There are so many things going through my head right now I can't even get them all out. I asked DH what his concerns were and he only has one...what if it doesn't work, then what? I didn't know how to answer this other than to say it WILL work, it HAS to work but now the question is still haunting me. What if it doesn't work for me???

    Help! Emotional Mess!

I know this may sound crazy but I'm hoping someone out there can relate. First off I just went to the informational seminar last night. I'm 100% in favor of this procedure but of coarse have worried about the cost. Well...this morning my mom offers to cover the entire price of the operation. (They are able to do this for me) I know this is wonderful, however I have been an emotional wreck ever since. First of all, that is a lot of $$ to accept as a gift. I have issues with allowing them to do this for me. Also, I have anxiety over the idea of my life being so different. I don't know what it is like to not have a weight problem. A very large part of my day is spent dealing with this, every meal, every mirror, every time I get dressed in the morning, every time i meet someone new. Its almost too scary to think about what my new life would be like. Anyone have any advice on how to deal with all of this emotion?

    C-Section

Well, I can't answer from experience, I'm not banded. However, I did attend the informational seminar last night and someone asked the same questions. According to the surgeon it would in no way be affected. Also, I have had a C-Section and from where I've seen the port placement they are no where near close. The band is dealing w/the stomach which is in a much higher location than your uterus.

    Am I out of Luck?

We are changing our insurance over to my husband's plan on 7/1/07. Of coarse my first fear is denial because we will have just gotten the insurance into affect, then I remembered out of habit ( I always lie about my weight) I lied about my weight on the forms we filled out because I was afraid my husband would look at them on his way to work. Anyway I knocked off about 25 or so lbs. Have I completely messed up my chances w/insurance?

    Am I out of Luck?

Thanks for the replies. I think I put that i weigh around 175 when it truth it is more like 220. My employer did not change plans. I have always held the coverage for my family but my husband just got a new job and his insurance was much better for us so we are going with his plan but there will not be a gap in coverage.

Banded 2 months and don't know.

Hi, I'm sorry I have no idea about your question, however, I would really like to talk with you. I see you were banded at Cincy weight loss center and that is where I will be going. I would love to hear about your experience with them if you wouldn't mind sharing. You can PM me anytime. Thanks!
