    Howdy!

Although I have posted 2-3 times, I hadn't entered my introduction. My name is George and I just had my lapband installed on 6/19/2007 after a long, grueling 2 months of second-guessing my decision. I was having serious last minute doubts - but I went through with it anyhow. Now that I'm on stage 5 and done with the surgery, I have to say it really wasn't that bad. My pain wasn't that bad and only lasted a day or so...the worst thing was the residual CO2 gas in my stomach - it gave me excrutiating left shoulder pain. But that's gone now too. I lost 10 lbs on teh pre-op diet and have lost 15 lbs since surgery. The weight loss has slowed down, but i still lose a little each day. I AM very hungry and am looking forward to my first fill so that I'm not so hungry between meals...but it's a long process and i'll get there eventually. Thanks for reading.

    Why remove the band!

Thanks for your replies! That does make me feel better. I guess i was thinking that I'm going to be apprehensive to have anything touch my stomach for a while. It's good to hear that the device itself is pretty tough. George

    Why remove the band!

Has anyone ever heard of someone having their band removed due to hardware problems or the band breaking? I'm just wondering because I'm scheduled for band surgery on 6/19 yet I want to get back into martial arts after I lose some weight...i'm concerned the band port or tubing would become damaged. I checked with my doctor and said it won't...but i thought i'd check here. Thanks, George
