To All being Banded on Monday 7/16. I want to wish the very best to all of you. I hope we all have an easy go of it. I have to be at the hospital at 7:30am for surgery at 9:30am, then my Dr. keeps us overnight for a barium swallow in the morning. So, I will be home some time on Tuesday. My computer is upstairs in my office, so I'm not sure if I'll feel like climbing the stairs to report in. All depends on how I feel. Anyway, once again. Good Luck to all having Lapbands tomorrow and over the course of the next few days. Wishing us all well and speedy recoveries. Pris

Hi Lainy and AshRae: I'm here last visit before surgery tomorrow.
-
Greetings: So much has happened since I was last able to write. Jim (my fiance) and I went on the 5th to the small group meeting with the Dietitian and the Psychologist. The Dietitian gave us our post op menu. Stage 1/Day 1 - water Stage 2/Day 2 - clear liquids Stage 3/Days 3-17 (or until doctor changes it) - full liquids. Then on Friday the 6th, I had my preop testing done. Bloodwork, ekg, chest xray, and mini physical with a really sweet Dr. I've been gearing myself up for the 19th, but then on Wednesday the 11th, the Dr.s office called and asked if I'd prefer the 16th which is this coming Monday. Of course, I said yes! But now, I'm having a case of the nervous jitters. It seems so close, less than 48 hours away. I'm sure the anxiety attack will pass. They usually do. Don't know if I'll be able to write any more before the surgery, but I'll write when I get back home. My doctor keeps you overnight so they can do a barium swallow the next morning. So, I won't be home til some time on Tuesday. Hope all goes well! :nervous

Peaches9: Thanks for your kind words to. As I posted to Danny, I'm sure it will pass. I've had other surgerys, but asked to stay awake for my back surgery in 2003 and my colonoscopy and endoscopy. I think more than anything, I'm afraid that I won't wake up from the anesthesia. I know that may sound dumb, but I'm nervous about that more than anything. I'm just telling myself, the odds of not waking up are hopefully slim to none.

Thanks Danny. I've thought off and on about WLS since 2003, so it's not like it's happening without my being informed. And as I said, this site is great. I'm just having a small anxiety attack, but I'm sure it will pass, they usually do. I'm so glad you are doing well. I've got diarrhea now, before the surgery and am not sure if it's nerves or the preop diet. Oh well, hopefully by this time next week I'll be giving someone else words of encouragement. Thanks again!

I love this website and this thread especially. Everyone here is so wonderful and supportive. But, right now - I'm having nervous jitters. I was supposed to be banded on the 19th, but it was changed to Monday the 16th. I was so thrilled, but right now I'm having a minor anxiety attack. I know I'm doing the right thing for me, but ..... encouring words please.

Congrats and glad all is going well!

Mexico sounds good to me, too! The Greek Isles sound better, but I'm with mommiranda - too pricey for me.

Greetings everyone: I am so excited. My surgery was to be on Thursday, 7/19, but my doctors office called and asked if I would care to be done on Monday the 16th instead. Of course, I said yes. Chimboree - please change my date. Lynette - what is unflavored powder and where do you buy it? Your son is adorable and your hubby is a hunk. I can't wait. I am so happy to be entering bandland with all you great Lucky 7's.

Greetings July Bandsters:

I've been very busy and haven't had the opportunity to either work on my journal or reply here to anyone. ....Or send out well wishes.. I've just read from page 82-125 to get myself caught up.

Count me in for the cruise. Never been on one, but would love to go. I live on the east coast and I'd be concerned if we went too late in august or early sept. - hurricane season. Is Dini keeping the cruise list? I started my preop diet on Sunday. It's a modest 1,000 calories a day. But one meal a day must be replaced with a protein shake. Got the chocolate Isopure from GNC. just okay. I bought it because it has 50g of Protein and either 3 or 5 grams of Carbs. and 220 calories. Also, someone mentioned LEG CRAMPS. Me, too! So severe, they wake me up in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, I can't tell if it's from the Protein shake/the diet/ or the Metformin I started last week for the diabetes I was just diagnosed with. Lynette: Your son is adorable. Cherea: Thanks for the calendar. I pm'd you for the PPP. Laurend: My weight for the week ending 7/7 was 242.

MsPris replied to reconciler's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Greetings Reconciler: Can't help you with your question about lower BMI's losing slower, but I hope someone else can answer that for you. I did however, want to invite you to go to Monthly groups - select July 2007 - and look for the Lucky 7 thread and join us. Great support for those getting banded in July. Pris -

LyssaRene & James: Thanks so much for your kind words. It hasn't been easy! I knew I had to do something about that double threat, obesity and a smoker. So, I just bit the bullet - no carbs or nicotine in that!

Hello all - Not even banded yet (07/19) and I'm dreaming about onderland. Actually, I lost about 40 lbs last year and went down to 196. I hadn't seen that in a good 10 years. Don't remember exactly, but I probably ate something really good to celebrate and never saw it again. So, I want to see onderland again, too for more than one day this time.

Hello again: I can't believe I have less than 3 weeks to go 'til I'm an official bandster! I wished I'd quit smoking long before this, so I wouldn't have gained any weight. But, I didn't and I did - oh well. I'm not going to chastise myself too much over this. I finally feel like I'm taking control of my life. I feel as if my life has been on hold for so long. To be only 5'2" and 246lbs. and an apple shape to boot - is not a very pretty picture.

Greetings: My date is the 19th, and my pre/post op meeting with the Dietitian is on the 5th and my last Dr. Appt. is on the 6th. - which is 13 days before surgery. As of yet, no mention of a preop diet, but I'm sure one will come - and I need it. Since my 5/31 surgeon appt. - she insisted I quit smoking - I went from 233.5# to 248#, and yesterday I was 243.2#. Being able to break a 35 yr. cig habit was a biggy for me. Just a testament to my resolve to have the surgery. Anyway - anyone know of the least restrictive preop diets out there - not that I'm looking for one, just curious. I would have sworn I'd seen somewhere on this site where someone said they had been put on a 4 day preop diet. Am I dreaming? Pris

Spouse not supporting the new you?
MsPris replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Boo Boo Kitty: I'm not aware of your other med problem, however let me say this. I'm 53 now and being banded on July 19th. However, when I was about 28, I lost 84 lbs on my own. I went from 188 to 104, I'm only 5'2". My ex-husband never reacted any differently to me. Didn't tell me he loved me when I was heavy - didn't tell me when I was thin. I guess in my mind, I expected him to change, as I changed. So, coltonwade, might very well be correct. However, every one else reacted to me differently. And I received lots of attention - from lots of men, since I was working in a chemical plant with mostly men who saw the change in me. And I, liked the attention. But it hurt me the attention I craved wasn't coming from my husband. Years later, after we'd been divorced, he confessed he had actually been jealous of my new look and his lack of attention was the only way he knew to 'punish' me. He recited the words to a song from years prior, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife, as for my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you." ....and we all know in our society - if you're not thin - to many people you are ugly. sad, but true. So, my advice to you, if this relationship is one you want forever, fix it as soon as you can. If you need to, seek counseling, and reassure him that you loved him when you were heavier and you'll still love him now that you are thin. Get to the heart of the problem, but whatever you do - don't let his insecurites - if that's part of the problem - sabotage the hard work you have done. Good luck to you and I hope everything turns out well for you. Pris -
Not sure if my fill was too tight or I do not know what full is?
MsPris replied to TRANAM1955's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't help you with the fill - bing banded 7/19. But, my doctor wouldn't do my surgery unless I quit smoking so I quit, too. Gained about 10 lbs. this past month though. Not too happy about that. -
Hello: Not trying to be sarcastic or anything - but maybe you should get flu shots! Tell your pcp's you have the band, and you may be considered high risk - if the flu shots are in short supply. Now as far as morning sickness - I'd be the last one to say you won't vomit. Days I never long for - ever.
