Question about Post Op ADHD meds
skrubabilen replied to loftyleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would also like to add that you need your psychiatrists help in stopping that type of medication. You need a professional to help you stop taking that type of medication. Plus, as someone said above, your surgery does not help or address your ADHD concerns. I would call your prescribing doc and talk to them. Good luck! -
It will get better. It took me the better part of 6-7 weeks to finally feel like I didn't need a nap every day. I was struggling to get in enough calories and fluids mused with healing, I NEEDED a nap every day. Lol Now, at 11 weeks tomorrow, I still only get in 550-800 cals a day ( which is still liw)but I am definitely not as exhausted. Hang in there, it will get better!

That first week is crazy hard :/ I was able to start drinking the clear liquid proteins as soon as I got home from the hospital. So it might be worth a call to make sure you are totally understanding their plan. Sugar free Popsicles and Jello helped me. Unfortunately, that clear liquid phase is a part of the process you just have to get through. I remember feeling crazy hungry that first week, now I have to set a timer to eat otherwise the day goes by and I've hardly eaten a thing. Just hang in there and know this too shall pass!

I'm almost 10 weeks out and my nut said they want me at 1000 cals by 3 months. I'm struggling to hit 600-800. She also told me at that low number of cals, working out isn't wide because there isn't enough fuel to compensate and that exercising would be counter productive at that cal amount. So I would guess for you that you should try bumping up your cals by eating more protein (or drinking it) and stick to your workout schedule. Keep up the great work!

Issues Eating certain foods?
skrubabilen replied to natasha88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 10 weeks out and me and eggs, plain water, broccoli, and ice are not friends anymore. All of those are things I could eat before surgery with no problem. Now, not so much. But everyone is different. -
Drinking difficulties?
skrubabilen replied to LittleDooker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 10 weeks out and can't drink anything cold. I found room temp Gatorade g2 to work really well, hot tea with truvia and warm/hot water. It's weird drinking warm stuff in the summer but it is what it is, if your tea has caffeine, then you could very likely dehydrate yourself. Plus the real sugar can upset your tummy. At least my tummy doesn't care for it at all. Good luck and keep trying different things! -
One year since my surgery!
skrubabilen replied to IweightNoMore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome! Congrats on your first year and all the amazing success you have had!! -
I started milky protein shakes and yogurt by day 6. Just take it slow and stop if you are feeling ill. I personally had a heck of a time with the clear stage. Once I started drinking regular protein shakes, the food dreaming waned a bit. Good luck!!

Averaging 400 cals/day GAINING WEIGHT!
skrubabilen replied to 2notbwinded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the premier protein shakes. They have 30g of protein and 160 cals, which it sounds like you would benefit from both right now. You can get them in a 4 pack so if you don't like them, it's not that horrible. I find mine at Meijer and Kroger. -

Well if you use the body wraps, I put Saran Wrap around them. But no one is allowed to promote any biz on here. :/ -

***WARNING*** PLEASE READ
skrubabilen replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had this problem quite often since surgery. I am one of the "lucky" ones that cannot tolerate plain water. And typically I hate fake sugar anything. I am also a photographer and spend long days walking in the sun with my clients. Since surgery I have had to carry a Gatorade G2 with me every where I go and drink all day long. Otherwise I become crazy sick and dizzy and my leg muscles cramp. I have never been a fan before but now I have no choice. :/ -
Consequences of no protein
skrubabilen replied to laughingheels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find the premier at Meijer and Kriger. Once in a while there is also a coupon for them in the paper. -
I can totally relate to the frustration and the depression part. It's hard going from your life revolving around food for everything to the exact opposite. And watching everyone else eat while you choke down grilled chicken, is depressing, at first. Then you sit back and realize that those habits were the habits that got you to the point of surgery. I became relieved when I recognized that at any other time in my life I would have fallen off my diet and would have stayed in those same fat jeans because food was more important then me. Now I know that I am more important then those fried onion rings. Hope that makes sense. If I crave something now, I take a bite of someone's greasiness, satisfy the urge, and go back to my healthy life that has gotten me close to onederland for the first time in 14 years. 10 weeks and 39 pounds so far feels better then any greasy food I have had! Good luck to you! Hang in there!

I use an all natural supplement everyday. It works great and keeps things moving without the drastic ups and downs that you can get with miralax. I open the capsules and sprinkle them into my protein shake every morning. By the evening, I'm usually all good. Helps with the acid in my Tum Tum as well. -
Putting egg protein into hot things
skrubabilen replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found with some protein powders that if you mix the powder with some cold or room temp water to make it pudding like them whisk it into the hot liquid, you don't have the clumping issue. Works fantastic for turning chocolate protein drinks into hot chocolate. Haven't tried it with the egg protein but its probably worth a try -
Amazing!! You look fantastic! Congrats!

I LOVE Karenb own it philosophy! I hate my arms too. I've lost 39 so far and my bat wings are flapping in the wind. It is what it is. I exercise and use body wraps to help firm them up. Every little but helps. But at the end of the day, ya just gotta own it and love your body. But that doesn't mean you stop trying

Post op 3rd day and excruciating pain when swallow even water
skrubabilen replied to Mytwinklestar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 9 weeks out and I still have a heck of a time with plain water, especially cold water. I drink warm/hot water in the morning and hot tea. I have barely any issues swallowing that but cold, plain water, forget it. I did find that I can drink Gatorade G2 without issue as well. Hopefully you can find seething that works for you. As far as the pain, everyone is different and every surgery is different. So just because two people live in the same house, doesn't mean the same recovery. And what motivates one may not motivate the other. Good luck to both of you! -
Awesome!! Congrats to you!!

Soooooo, I'm 9 weeks post, down 39 pounds. 5 pounds away from one-der-land. (Which i am beyond happy about) I had my first family gathering with family I haven't seen since Christmas, easily 39 pounds ago. Not one of them noticed or mentioned my weight loss. They don't know I had surgery, or at least I don't think they knew. I have to admit, that was a bit of a total bummer. I have gone from a stuffed size 20 to a Baggie 16 and not a word. Ugh! Has anyone else had that happen?

Consequences of no protein
skrubabilen replied to laughingheels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink the premier protein shakes. Delish and you can't beat the 30 grams of protein. Blend them with some ice and a small piece of banana and it tastes fantastic. My hubs loves the premier protein bars. I haven't tried one yet, I'm only 9 weeks out.
