I agree with amytug. I can't wait to go shopping and try clothes on, but I won't be buying anything until I can try it on. I really look forward to going to places like Fredrick's of Hollywood and buying a sexy bra, underwear and lingerie!

You can always have mashed potatoes and add a scoop of unflavored protein! Can't even tell it is in there and now you have made something you like to eat and it is good for you! I was told to do this during the "mushy food" phase, and will continue to any time I eat mashed potatoes!

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
MystiGal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am POSTOP and I think it is absolutely insane to go into any surgery without being 100% ok with any and all risks. Last I checked, this surgery is ELECTIVE. If you aren't comfortable with the risks, then get off your butt and exercise and change your eating habits on your own. -
Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
MystiGal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I totally agree with you. This is just like doing anything else...driving a car, getting on an airplane, any other surgery, etc... Going into this you should know all the risks and come to terms with the fact that they can, and might, happen to you. If you can't go into the operating room feeling good about your decision knowing this, then you should not be getting the surgery. -
Who is pre-op and who is post op?
MystiGal replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 6 days post op, had my surgery in Plano, TX at Victory Medical with Dr. Nicholson. I have lost 27 pounds, 12 of which were lost during the 2 week preop diet. I am having no problems getting my liquids in and am almost feeling normal. The only real pain I have is from the larger incision on the left side of my belly where they removed my stomach. I will be going back to work tomorrow (desk job). -
There are statistics showing that 85% of Lapband patients end up doing the revision to a Sleeve. Google is going to be the best way to find the statistics you are looking for.

Stay strong! You can do this!! The first few days are the worst.

Congratulations!!

Help with decision!:)
MystiGal replied to jmonique78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Tuesday, May 21st. I feel almost 100% back to normal and will be returning to work tomorrow (had one week off). Everyone is different, so there is really no way to know how much time you will need. I see alot of people on here take 6 weeks off, but I think that is extreme. -

85% of people who get the Lapband later have a revision to the Sleeve. Research the statistics and they will tell you why the sleeve is a better choice. -
Pre Op Weightloss
MystiGal replied to Stephanie McMillan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep your head up! The goal of the preop diet is not weightloss, it is shrinking your liver! You will do great tomorrow and then the pounds will start to drop! Good luck! -
when was it safe for you to exercise again?
MystiGal replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Didnt choose him. My insurance is through Yale because my mom works there and had to get it done at yale. I was just curious if others had gotten clearance earlier like at their 2 week followup. I guess I assumed that you trusted this person enough to cut out more than half of one of your major organs, so I would think you would trust that whatever guidelines they give you are best for you. Obviously you are going to do whatever you want anyway. Good luck. -
Day 3 Post Op- Can I have Protein Shakes?
MystiGal replied to QueenAmandy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All doctors have different timeframes and guidelines. This is a question for your surgeon, not the general public. If YOUR paperwork says protein shakes, then you should be having protein shakes. Protein promotes healing! Call your doctor. -
It is completely normal for all your incisions to itch, that is the healing process. I have read other posts of people saying their entire body itches, including their feet. I don't think this is something you need to be worried about or run to the ER for, but I would mention it the next time you see your doctor.

Breederb- You will LOVE him!! I am 6 days post op and doing GREAT! He is brilliant!

I am 6 days post op and feel the same way. Luckily, I am having no problems getting all my fluids in and don't really feel "full". I was told our stomach is so swollen and the nerves in our stomach have not recovered from surgery, and that is why we don't feel the full sensation.

You should always do what your surgeon says. No one is alike and all surgeons are different with their requirements and timeframes. You chose your surgeon for a reason, trust what he is telling you. -
Dallas, TX! Sleeved 5/21/13 with Dr.Nicholson!

I have a cough, what can I take?
MystiGal replied to jmarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgeon's office should always have a nurse on call.... I am pretty sure all doctor's offices do. Call and leave a message- someone should call you back. -
Just know that when we come home from the hospital, we have a lot more fluid than normal, causing you to weigh more. Once the fluid comes off, you will start seeing the numbers drop. Your body is healing, give it time to do that. :-)

5 days post op!
MystiGal replied to chrissilicious's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are talking to your surgeon tomorrow, I would suggest you stay on clear liquids until then. -

Call your doctor. -
A family member had the sleeve done over a year ago. She has reached goal and then some... But she still has sleep apnea and has to use her cpap. Dothey tell you that this surgery cures sleep apnea? It definitely does not for everyone!

5 days post op!
MystiGal replied to chrissilicious's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear you are doing so well! I am 6 days post op and feeling almost normal. I definitely do not think it is a good idea to go against what your doctor has said to do. I know how you feel, I have 3 weeks of liquids. But no matter how well I feel, this is a time for our new stomach to heal. Not to mention our stomachs are still swollen from surgery!! Do not go on and put whatever you want in your mouth, the doctor really knows best! Wouldn't want you to be one of those people who ate whatever they thought they could and end up back in the hospital with a leak! Go slow, give yourself time to heal! Good luck! -
I am sure they will be understanding! :-)
