I have one more week (totaling 3 weeks) of liquids before I can go on to mushy foods. I have also been having tortilla soup (most restaurants will serve the broth alone if asked) and French Onion soup (just avoid getting the onions or take it home and pour it through a strainer). These three soups have helped me get through the weeks.

I was told no bath/swimming until 6 weeks post op.

If you aren't getting any fluids, that can cause your fever to hold on. My dr said not to worry unless the fever is over 101. Try to get some fluids in and keep an eye on your temp. If it keeps climbing, call your surgeon's office

I have had Miso Soup at least 3 times a week for the past 2 weeks. It is better than chicken broth!

I was also in so much pain on the main incision that shot through my back like a fire poker!! I could only walk for a few minutes before I would be doubled over in pain. Last night I was tossing & turning in my sleep and felt a big POP near my incision. Now today I am 100% pain free!! Hopefully you will be pain free soon!

Yes, having the same problem. I am chalking it up to a lack of nutrients. I had my 2 week check up today & was told to start taking my vitamins, so hoping that will help. Tired of having a sore throat!!! Hope you feel better soon.

I feel the same way you do. It is a little bit better if you put ice in it.

So funny... I overheard someone in my office today talking about something similar that they have at a restaurant here in Dallas. Eggroll filled with brisket, bacon, cheese, bbq sauce and jalapenos. Sounds sooo good!!!!

The first thing I asked for was some water, because I had cotton mouth so bad. They gave me ice chips and I was fine. I didn't think about any kind of food until probably day 6 post op.

I agree that you should be happy you aren't having any problems! So many people go through such a difficult time with food in the beginning. But, I also agree with other posts I have read on this issue... Just because you can eat a lot, doesnt mean you should.

I had my first appointment the first week in April and surgery May 21st, so almost 2 months.

Well, I spent about 6 hours lounging by the pool yesterday and got burnt to a crisp. Every summer I get burned the first time I go to the pool. This is on a whole different level though, I am really burned bad! Of course I couldn't get in the pool because I am only 13 days post op, but it felt amazing outside, so I had no idea I was being fried. I was sure to stay hydrated all day. Well, last night I was laying on my couch. I asked my daughter to pour me some of my G2 Gatorade. She brought me a glass and I drank about an ounce of it....then something really crazy happened. I felt like I was having a heart attack. I stood up and broke out into a major sweat. I was dizzy. I was seeing black spots. I handed my daughter my phone and told her to call my mom & tell her to come to my house that I needed to go to the emergency room. I got the sudden urge to use the restroom (TMI, I know) - I had diarrhea and within a minute or two, poof- I was totally normal! WTF?? I asked my daughter what she put in the glass, she told me she put Kool Aid...FULL SUGAR FILLED KOOL AID! She is only 9, so I couldn't get upset with her. I am assuming this was a reaction to the sugar? If so, I will NEVER put anything with sugar near my lips again!!! I guess that is a good thing, but geez I thought I was going to die!!! Anyone else experienced this??????

Wow, 10 months out and it still happens? I was hoping it would go away!! But you are right, it is probably for the best because I have had a major sweet tooth my entire life... So now I will have NO desire to eat that cookie or cupcake!!!

You should probably just listen to your body. I am only 12 days post op and can take normal drinks of water.

I think it is normal for you. I am only 12 days post op and I have lost 30 pounds, including the weight I lost preop. Everyone loses differently, it all depends on you, your starting weight, age may be a factor along with several other things. Congratulations on your success!! Keep doing whatever you are doing, obviously it is working!!
