I was told he performed 22 surgeries the day I had mine. He is incredible! I also had a hernia repair and I was in actual surgery for 18 minutes!!! Love Dr. Nick! -

I went through my insurance, but my surgery was only 4 weeks after my first.visit with Dr.Nick. His staff is amazing. I had my EGD and my surgery at Victory Medical in Plano and I highly recommend it to anyone. The drain is disgusting and quite painful coming out, I actually cried. The medicine ball is super easy to take out, I did it myself with no pain whatsoever. My left stitch popped about 2 weeks post op and I was 100% pain free after that. Dr. Nick is amazing!! -

Haha that is funny because right when I got in the operating room (I was crying) the Anesthesiologist said "You need drugs!!" ... I was out within 10 seconds! If he hadn't put something in my IV right away, I probably would have jumped off the table! -

I will tell you that the left side pain goes away around week 3 post op. I was twisting in bed one night and it felt like a balloon popped inside my stomach (did not hurt) and then I was 100% pain free! Wishing you a speedy recovery! -
Back to basics...and broke my stall !
MystiGal replied to nursepez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is exactly what I needed to read! I have been gaining and losing the same 3 pounds over the past 2 1/2 weeks. I will be six weeks post op Tuesday. I don't know if I am depressed or just having too much fun with an I dont care attitude, but I really screwed up this weekend. Had about 10 glasses of wine, a few tequila shots, a bloody mary, hotlinks, crunchy tacos.... Yeah, it was a fun filled weekend by the pool, but I lost control. I will be doing protein shakes this week to get back on track. Thanks for your post. -
May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
MystiGal replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YAY! I woke up today and jumped on the scale and I have FINALLY broke my stall!! Down 6 pounds, including the 3 I have been gaining and losing for the past 2 weeks!!! Feeling much better today! I guess stalls are going to happen no matter what we do - and obviously they will break when your body is ready no matter what you do! Doing the happy dance today! -

I hear different things from different people as far the the Protein shakes go. My doctor said to drink them as long as I want to, I know some doctors say to get your protein from food. It is frustrating how they are all so different!! I wish they all stuck to the same plan, then maybe we wouldn't all be so confused! I usually have a protein shake in the morning with 1 tsp Peanut Butter and 1 banana, blended. For lunch, I usually have either turkey and cheese roll ups (2) or yesterday I had about 2 slices of fajita meat and about a tsp of refried Beans. For dinner, I have either shrimp, chicken, hamburger, steak, tuna or eggs... just whatever I am in the mood for. I drink at least 70 oz of water a day and I drink one G2 Gatorade (12 oz) while I work out. (I work out Mon - Fri). For Snacks, I usually have a string cheese and at night a sugar free popsicle. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I truly feel like I will stay at this weight for the rest of my life! (Which, by the way, I know is crazy talk since I am only a month post op!) -

I am super frustrated! I have been gaining and losing the same 3 pounds for over 2 weeks! This week will make 3 weeks, so I am hoping to see a drop by the end of the week. I guess this is the 3 week stall everyone talks about - I say it is BS!!! UGH!!!!! Going to try something different this week and go back to having 2 protein shakes a day and a light dinner. Also going to try and up my fluid intake, even though I don't see how that is possible since I am drinking water every second of the day! GRRRRRRRRRRRR -
I am having a bad day! Feeling very frustrated and like a failure. I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow. For the past week, I keep gaining and losing the same 2 pounds. GRRR Then I took it a step further and drank alcohol last night! I only ordered one shot and sipped on it for about 2 hours. I got a little buzz from it and feel like total crap today! I keep feeling like I am never going to lose weight. I have failed at every diet I have ever tried (obviously, that is what led me to the sleeve) and I am staring to think I will fail at this too! Ugh! I hate feeling this way! Definitely one of those days I would like to stay under the covers and cry myself back to sleep! For some reason, I feel like I can't get my emotions together! Anyone else have these problems/feelings???

I have read so many people say you start dropping sizes quickly. About when does that happen?? I am only 4 weeks out but I haven't really gone down a size yet. My clothes don't fit as tight as they did before, but still able to wear all my clothes. Just curious about when this started happening for people. I can't wait for my clothes to be falling off of me, but right now that feels like a distant dream.

OMG I am so sorry to read this! I cannot imagine all the emotions you are going through right now! I never even thought about this when I had my sleeve - I don't think any of us do. My prayers are with you! -
My Dumping Syndrome horror story (read if you dare)
MystiGal replied to HatheryOnHerWay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry you went through this!! Not fun AT ALL! I experienced the exact same "dumping syndrome" two weeks post op after drinking some kool aid that I thought was G2 gatorade- thankfully, I was at home!!!! -
SICK & TIRED of eating pig slop.
MystiGal replied to jmarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. I am 4 weeks post op. What exactly are you eating? I was cleared for soft foods a week ago. I eat things like: eggs, egg salad, chicken salad, guacamole, hummus, sweet potatoes, baked/mashed potatoes, deli lunch meats and cheeses, string cheese, yogurt, beans (baked and refried), fish (salmon, tilapia, mahi mahi), crab, shrimp, bacon, brisket w/ a little bbq sauce, lasagna without the pasta, the inside of an eggroll, rib meat, green beans, cooked carrots, etc... There are tons of options out there - I just make sure whatever I am eating is moist/soft and has some nutritional value. I always look for protein first and then if I am still hungry, maybe a bite of something else. Be creative! Good luck! -
There are so many confrontational people on this website!! I am on another website like this and have never seen so many people arguing with eachother. I am all about having different opinions and discussing them, but my goodness! People on here get so personal and really go at eachother. Just not understanding why exactly. I know I have had maybe one or two disagreements with people on here, but it was never personal and I still enjoy reading what they have to say. I am by no means an angel, I will say that - but this is on a whole different level! We should be here to support eachother, not put eachother down.

Please Tell Me This is Normal
MystiGal replied to Iniysa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as the way you feel, all of that is very similar to my first week after surgery. Now the rash, that I'm not sure about. It is good that you emailed your dr, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery! Every day really does get better!! -
I am 3 weeks post op. I started soft foods yesterday. Thin sliced deli meats are on my list, hopefully they are on yours too! There are so many things you can wrap up with turkey or ham - guacamole, cheese, hummus, sweet potatoes, etc... I could only eat about half of one turkey and avocado wrap, but am starting to get hungry so will probably eat the other half soon!
-
Today for lunch I had a slice of avocado wrapped in a piece of turkey lunch meat. Yummy!
-
so everybody pretty much starts eating norm...
MystiGal replied to jmarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on full liquids from day 1-21. Started mushy foods yesterday and can start to try new foods, but they must still be soft. No restrictions at 6 weeks. -
Laura-ven... of course I do! The majority of people on here make me laugh, smile and give out great information. It's just a few that I have read on here that seem like they are looking to argue. I do not see you as one of those people! By the way - I have never been a spitter, always a swallower! LMAO!!!

How do I tell my children?
MystiGal replied to Goddardgo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my 9 year old daughter exactly what they were going to do to me and that I was doing it to be healthy for her. She was really excited, even went to the hospital with me. She asked if she could come in the OR and watch! lol She has been a great help and loves to help measure out my protein shakes and soup! You know your kids best, tell them as little or as much as you know they can handle. -
What to wear to the hosptial?
MystiGal replied to LittleDooker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore a sundress to and from the hospital. Definitely didn't want to be putting pants on after surgery, but everyone is different.
