Sharp pain on ribs... not sure what to do
Carol1560 replied to CouchToHealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hurting a little bit like that after my surgery. But it wasnt all the time and it did not hurt all the time. I did ask my surgeon and he said that is the incision that he pulled my stomach out from. And I guess it was stretched somewhat. I did not have any stitches, dont know if that matters or not. But I try to ignore it, and I still have that feeling from time to time. I think it is healing from the inside to the outside. And I know that takes longer. But the area had no fever, no redness. Hang in there, it gets better -

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
Carol1560 replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on May 15th. My starting weight was 242 and now I am 204. I guess 38 lbs is good but those last four pounds are killing me. OH and I dont have a thyroid and that could be slowing me down some. So do you think I am normal? Or do I need to step it up some? -

7 weeks out: How many oz. are you eating?
Carol1560 replied to Cheer Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I dont think that anyone has a super tiny sleeve. Based on Drs, they can only use four different sized bougies and I do think if your stomach was only one ounce that would be a problem. There is still a tremendous amount of swelling associated with your stomach until it is completely healed and that makes it seems like you have a tiny stomach -
what to say to people that tell you youre just too lazy..
Carol1560 replied to birdmadgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I was sleeved on May 15 and I have lost 37 lbs ...WHOOP WHOOP!! I know that if I keep my fluids up and my Protein high 65-70 per day, and do my mile walk a day, I continue to drop weight. And I am eating Stay off the scales and wait to weight every 7-10 days or you will make yourself crazy.

I know prior to having surgery, I had a sweet tooth. I loved my sweets. Every night my hubby sits on the couch and has his ice cream. I have a decaf coffee with sugar free creamer and it is so delicious. It satisfies my sweet tooth. And sometimes I have a protien bar. Some of those protein bars have low grams of sugar and the chocolate coating tastes so good. The amounts of sweets that you are eating probably arent going to deter your weight loss that much but I would be worried that my hair is gonna fall out cause I am not getting enough protien. That is one thing, protien before anything else and I aint gonna be bald

Surgery Wednesday, Work Monday
Carol1560 replied to Kieshart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well good luck to you. If you need pain medication, you might be up the creek without an paddle. Those meds make you sleepy and you shouldnt drive. I had my surgery on a Wednesday like you and on Monday, I just started to feel decent. My doctor said two weeks off work and I pretty much have an desk job as well. I know that on Thursday and Friday after discharged, I pretty much slept. Honestly, stay home -
When I was about ten days postop, hubby wanted me to ride with him to get some Popeye's chicken. I figured okay that is better than me cooking. I got some mashed tators and they were so good. But now everynight he sits and eats ice cream and does not bother me in the least That is in the past

I now understand why divorces happen after WLS
Carol1560 replied to rachel marie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont know maybe I am ole school. But I love cooking, just cause I cook does not mean that I have to eat it. I have changed some of the things that I cook but I always can get something else to eat besides whatever the family wants. I am just blessed to be able to have the variety of foods in my life. Cooking is a labor of love! -
UGG I cant stand the GNC Lean shakes with 25 grams of protein. The chocolate are just too sweet. I do like the protein bars by Atkins. They have 20 grams protein. I like the Premier Protein drinks with 30 grams

Am I crazy?!? What is going on here?!
Carol1560 replied to Flagstaffian's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well as a "NOT SLEEVED YETTER", It is very important to take that extra weight off prior to getting approved. 1. It shows a commitment to bettering yourself. 2. It is putting you into a "new" routine to help you make the LIFE changes that are necessary when you get sleeved. 3. If you have some weigh off, your surgery and your recovery will be much easier. You should follow the diet that your doctor/and or dietician gives you. Remember they are the experts. Secondly, you must have some type of physical activity incorporated into your lifestyle. These are the keys to success for WLS -
Carol1560, on June 24, 2013 - 12:18 PM, said: WOW, I cannot believe this unsleeved poster!! What the heck?? Well as you know, you wait fifteen minutes after you finish drinking before you start to eat, and this is so the Water can go down the little valve and then into your intestines. You should not be in a situation where you still have your water, etc in your stomach. OR visa versa. I think that you chewed and chewed that chicken and just about made it pureed. Your restriction will not be as severe if you did that. Asparagus is pretty mushy, so everything you ate basically was soft or pretty close to being pureed. You will not really notice too much, except a little heartburn if you eat too much. When you start to eat much denser protien, you will notice that you cannot eat as much It seems that I personally offended you by trying to encourage the OP. Attitudes like yours might be why so many people are "lurkers"- afraid to join online communities, post on them, or ever reveal actual names, photos, etc. because others will shoot them down (the opposite of what I was doing to the OP). Usually I ignore negative people, but it's Monday, so....chill out, Carol. I really think that people who have questions about their sleeve issues appreciate it much more if they get an answer from someone who actually has had the procedure done. I dont think that was being negative -- so zip it

liquid diet 2 days prior---can i drink coffee?
Carol1560 replied to huligoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it is okay if you drink DECAF coffee. I am a coffee lover and I was told to drink DECAF because coffee is a duiretic. You are trying to keep all those fluids in your body for hydration purposes and the coffee wants to get rid of it. They will not give you coffee in the hospital. -

I am six weeks out and starting to eat soft foods as tolerated. I took four boneless Pork chops placed into baking dish lightly seasoned Covered with foil and baked for 45 minutes at 350 Took out of oven, removed foil and poured off all fluids in bottom of dish Add one can of mushroom Soup mixed with 1 soup can full of skim milk Recover baking dish with foil and bake for another 25 minutes. You will have the most tender, eat with a SPOON delicious pork chops ever
