What are your thoughts regarding Bananas?
Carol1560 replied to Butterflyhigh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why do you think that you know more than your dietician? All she is trying to do is make sure that you get started correctly and make most out of the tool. I think you should try her way to begin with. I know I do not eat bananas. -

Inches or Pounds?
Carol1560 replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you! I like the inches and when you go with the inches, you will have the tendency to exercise and that will tighten up those flabby arms Who wants bat wings? Yeah I am liking the inches, remember good things come in small packages -
I only use brand Synthroid .................no generics for me I was cold like you and went and got my blood work done and I dropped my med level. So make sure when you feel different, go get blood work done!!

Anyone NOT need skin removal?
Carol1560 replied to Fuff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not think that I will have to have skin removal. I believe it depends on how much weight you needed to lose and inches, etc. But I also believe that exercise will help with any sagging skin, firming it up -
I would have asked her "Do you want it?" And I think that would have told her what she needed to know and injected a little humor in it. Hold on girlie, cause you are going to get all types of unexpected questions and comments about your journey. It's all good

Premier Protien Bars
Carol1560 replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat one of these Protein bars everyday for my breakfeast. I understand about the calories and the Protein and carbs and stuff. However, they are like eating dense protein and stick with you for a while. So I know for sure that I am getting a minimum of 30 grams of protein to start the day. I have read that some peeps think this is a exit ramp to sugars, etc. But ok, I get that but you need to give yourself a little something that mimics the real risk and realize that and dont let it lead you down the wrong path. I am too excited with my boost in life years, weight loss and list of other advantages to say "Oh I cant eat that because it may start me eating Cookies again" I definately have more wisdom and strength than a package of Oreos -

Rate of Loss. 6 Month Weight Loss Metrics For Info/Comparison
Carol1560 replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on May 15, 2013 I am 5'7" tall and weighed 242 Today I weigh 179 and am rocking it. I have had people say, hey you better stop losing weight. But I am still 18 lbs from goal. I am wearing size 8 jeans woo hoo! Trust me it is going slow slow. But my theory is like this: I did not gain all this weight overnight, so therefore. I am going to stick to the rules for the most part, but on vacation, etc I am going to eat what I want to. I cant eat that much to make that much of a difference. I try to work out or do something to get a good sweat going at least three times a week. Now remember I am 54 years old. So I walk of do my Wii fit with the exercise board. Oh and my instruction on Wii watches out for me and advises me of my pitfalls. My hair is starting to come back and it is wonderful when people walk up to you in walmart and say hey, I almost did not recognize you. Stick with it, have faith and dont try to rush. -
Cruise At 3 Months Post Op! Help!
Carol1560 replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well let me tell you............. You should be eating dense Protein by now whether you are going on a cruise or not. I went on a cruise at 5 months out and ate basically whatever I wanted. I know the rules and would order my entree and basically eat all the Proteins. Skip all the carbs, I would order desert and take one bite just to satisfy. I also took a Protein Bar with me when we were off the shp incase I got hungry. But we went to Mexico, my husband ordered chicken fajitas and I was able to eat just a few pieces of his chicken. But by three months, I was consuming dense proteins and had not problems -

No thyroid -hypeptactive thyroid ?
Carol1560 replied to meaganchuckran's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my thyroid out a couple years ago. I had VSG on 5/15 and today 10/17 down fifty lbs My thyroid dosage went from 150 to 125 to 112 mcg. And yes Dr said it will be a little bit slower But I am 53 years old as well -
I am getting ready to go on a cruise and I was sleeved 5/15. But this definately is not my first one I am just gonna eat meat and take a couple protein bars with me (just in case) and a bag of Jerky I will be having one bite of the deserts at night. And I am taking my workout clothes, gonna do the walk or the treadmill. And maybe try a little alcohol. Have fun it is your vacation

I found some instant pudding at walmart that is only 25 calories a serving. I bought the cheesecake flavor and it is yummy. But the snacking is one vice that I want to stop

May slow losers - vent here!
Carol1560 replied to k8ee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved May 15th I weighed 242 and now I am at 194 I just went to the dr last week. He said up the exercise but you are not a slow loser. You are average. He also said that 2 lbs a week is the most you want to lose after you level off. Because you do not want the saggy skin. And dont forget, you have around 2 years to do this -
Nervous about slow weight loss
Carol1560 replied to IpswichPav's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well first of all, DO NOT believe everything that you read. I was sleeved on 5/15 and down 48 lbs. I was concerned and saw my dr and this is what he said. 1.Everyone is different. You can not compare what you have lost to what others have lost. Stick to the plan, use your sleeve as a tool. The weight will come off. There will be times where you will lose inches and it will seem like the scale is not moving. DO NOT Weigh every day, do it every other week. Make sure that you exercise every other day for at least 30 minutes I believe him!! -
May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
Carol1560 replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 5/15 SW 242 Current weight 198 I feel like I am losing slow as well. It is discouraging. But one thing about the slow weight loss is no baggy skin Have dr's apt next week, gonna ask him if I am on track or not, so I can stop worrying -
I am 53, Presurgery weight 242; date was 5/15/2013 and today 198!! My thryoid meds have changed twice since surgery 150, 125 and now 112. I am sure that is affecting the speed of my weight loss

Carol1560 replied to Bronco0605's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Community coffee is sold all over the place. Amazon is helping that out and Community has a website and I am sure that they ship outta Louisisana -
Well I keep mine in the frig, and dont ever warm them up I would nt worry too much about the salt, cause you aint gonna be able to eat enough to make a difference

What exactly is a slow loser?
Carol1560 replied to Bronco0605's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my doctor had given me a goal. His expectation was for me to be about 1/2 my goal weight loss around 6 months. I made that in 3 months. In my opinion: Dont put on weight but happy with ANY lose. I average about one lb a week and sometimes I will lose 2-4 in a week -
Calling all sleevers with desk jobs....
Carol1560 replied to hopeliveshere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I Think it all depends on how you are feeling and the rate of your success in healing. It is very important to get your rest. Secondly, you will have some diareahra and gas. Do you want everyone in the office to experience this along with you. And you may or you may not be able to drink/soft foods, they may not agree with you. Do you want to get sick at work? And it is not one of those throw up and you feel better in five minutes. My Point is: It is better to plan for two weeks and if you feel better, go back early -

I call "drinking 64 oz water" BS
Carol1560 replied to Damaris67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you google the statistics on being dehydrated, the percent of people who are already dehydrated is amazingly high. So that being said........... 64 Ounces of Water is nothing, now remember within that 64 ounces of water, includes the fluids from Protein drinks, popsicles, etc. But the water is also helping the healing process of your stomach. It will wash away any type of particulate that is adhering to your stomach. Some of these particiulates are good and some of them are not. Also, the water consumption flushes out your organs and rids them of their accumulations prior to surgery. I follow the dr's orders..........I am not a doctor -
What makes you "dump"?
Carol1560 replied to alyshac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was around 8 weeks post op and I ate three teaspoons of banana pudding. I started sweating and got sick. Thought I was gonna puke outta my nose as well. I guess it was so rich that I cannot handle that. It was enough to make me stay away from anything like that. BTW it will hit ya quick
