Hello, Blooeyez.....I was banded 7/2/07...'round the same time as you but I can't eat meat without it getting stuck. I have 1.8cc in my band. I wish I could eat a similar diet to yours! I have an appt with the clinic on 1/10.....is it possible I'm too tight? Alot of times after eating I get this awful pain "in my sides".....pressure, whew! No relief till i throw up. Hope this get resolved soon.

    My first red meat meal

I have been banded for 6 months now and still cannot eat meat without it getting stuck. I have 1.8ccs in a 4cc band. Thanksgiving was not pleasant....turkey wouldn't go down....Xmas....ham didn't work. I basically do best with soups and purees, mashed potatoes, etc. Is this normal????

    Whats High In Protein

Hi everyone! I was banded 7/2/07. I still have difficulty eating meat.....i can only eat ground beef. I really miss chicken, etc. I only have 1 1/2 cc in my band. Is this normal? I see many of you eat meat and have a fairly "normal" diet. No matter how much I chew, I have to wait after a few forkfuls for food to "go down". So I just sit there and do nothing while everyone eats. If I continue to eat, food will get stuck, etc. Please share your thoughts with me. Thanks!

I was banded 7/2/07 and had one fill so far. My next fill appt is 10/15/07. I have tried many foods so far and I am really afraid to eat meat. It seems I can get away with a bite or 2 of something then it will get stuck after that. I can eat hard boiled eggs but scrambled eggs get stuck. Spaghetti got stuck. A typical day of eating looks like this: B: coffee with lite 1/2 and 1/2 Snack: couple of almonds Lunch: 1 or 2 hard boiled eggs with low fat mayo Snack: coffee/lite cream, some nuts Dinner: soup or baked potato or a cup of Wendy's chili. I just bought muscle milk as I had stopped doing shakes...my hair is "shedding" .....cant bear to say falling out, so I will do protein shakes. Just have a hard time fitting them in! Does this sound ok? Why do so many foods get stuck? Hubby says I eat too fast and dont chew well. I think I do though.

    Banded teachers

Thank you, dolphin dreams for the lunch suggestions. You definitely make it sound "do-able". I will try to eat in the staff room a couple of times a week. I usually eat in my room (on the computer) or while reading a book, etc. I teach kindergarten so I really enjoy the peace, quiet and solitude of my lunch time! Ive often felt that eating alone makes me seem antisocial... so with all the new teachers coming on board in Sept. I will try to be more sociable and get to know them!

    Banded teachers

Hello teachers! I was banded 7/2/07 and am teaching summer school. It is morning classes only and am doing fine. I eat very soupy cream of wheat for breakfast and a decaf coffee at home. Im done at 11:30 so I get to eat lunch at home. I am concerned about eating in public. Im still on mushies and I havent told anyone except for my husband and grown children about being banded. I plan on eating in my room during the school year. I am still learning about stopping eating before I am too full and eating slowly, chewing, etc. Good luck!

    First time fill question

I was banded 7/2/07 and am not scheduled for my first fill till aug. 22 !! I wanted my surgeon to do it but her bossy nurse said that SHE does 90% of the fills! Also, they do not do it with fluroscopy. Who has done your fills, fellow bandsters! ( I was banded in NY).
  10. I just had my band 3 days ago. Yesterday morning I took my blood pressure meds(2 pills), each split in half. All day I kept burping and bringing up fluid(I know its gross) and I had terrible burning heartburn. I had to call the surgeon by 5 pm and she thought the meds might have gotten stuck in the morning. Is this what pbing is??? omg! miminms, have you have any probs at all since your surgery? Im better today but scared to do anything wrong!! I am following doctors orders....am crushing my meds from now on!
  11. Thanks for posting that question, Kahohinani! That was sooo on my mind but I didnt have the guts to ask my surgeon. I am being banded tomorrow morning. My hubby will love hearing his fav treat is not off limits! lol

    blue cross blue shield

Hello, everyone! I am scheduled for surgery july 2nd. Just called the surgeon's office to see if I had been approved for the surgery by my BCBS of Western NY and the secretary said she hadn't sent it in yet!!! OMG! I asked her how long it took for approval and she said "3 days". I'm really anxious now. What if I'm denied and there is no time for a counter/claim, etc? The secretary said she would send it in tomorrow. Im not sure I trust her! Sigh!

just got my band a week ago

Hi, Rene! I'm so glad to hear you have had a speedy recovery so far. I have my surgery date July 2. I'm excited, anxious, etc. I live in NY and my insurance is BCBS of Western Ny. I have not been informed if my insurance has approved the surgery or not. Is it safe to assume that they have? I was told the surgery center handles all of that. I wish I knew for sure!!
