Grazing vs 3 meals + a snack per day

That is a lot of food for one meal this early after being sleeved.. I was sleeved June 6.. I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, and not in between those times. Breakfast is usually 1 egg. Snack, a protein drink, Lunch 1/2 cup of soup or some cold meat and cheese, Afternoon snack, greek yogurt, and dinner 2 ounces of fish or chicken and a few bites of vegetables. If I can't finish something, I don't finish it later, but throw it away or save it for another meal I dont know if this is right or wrong, but it seems to work for me. I'm afraid grazing between planned meals/snacks, would set a dangerous precedence for me. Good luck to you.

3 weeks post op excercise experiences?

Mokee, I also exercise at the pool because of arthritic knees. For some reason I am more intimidated about going after weight loss, with lots of excess skin (I'm 64). I have decided that when that time comes, I will invest in a rash guard suit from hydrochic.com (modest suits), or coolibar.com. I saw a woman water walking in something similar and she looked nice. Hope this helps.

    Hate protein drinks

Try Unjury.. The chocolate splendor tastes llike cocoa in warm water or milk. The chicken soup flavor tastes like chicken roth. The unflavored can be put in crystal lite, You can only buy from their website, but they are BY FAR the best!

Chili, soup, greek yogurt, turkey meatballs....Put 1/2 scoop unjury unflavored powder in crystal light. Also, unjury chocolate splendor in warm water tastes just like hot chocolate.

    stalls?

I have finally decided to only weigh at my monthly nutritionist appointment. It is too frustrating ot me to keep stepping on the scale and eeing minor, or no results. Would rather have a nice surprise each month! (now let's see if I can really do it!)
  6. Are you using any protein powder? At 5 weeks I still have Unjury chocolate, warm, for one snack, and put Unjury unflavored in a glass of crystal lite. That alone givess me 42 gr of protein a day, the rest from food. You can add 1/2 scoop unflavored to greek yogurt too for another 20.

    What's the pain like?

I had no pain from the incisions or sleeve. NONE! I had mild gas pains in my shoulder, but that didn't last long. I could sleep on my side from day 1 and had no trouble getting up or down. I took liquid pain meds for about 3 days. So, you can see, people vary a lot. It was SO much easier than I expected! Think positive and I bet it will be for you too.

    Protein Cereal anyone?

I see they have this at Walgreen's and Amazon in case you want to try a smaller amount before you buy in bulk at Costco. There are other flavors too.
  9. When I was at puree stage, I had: scrambled egg or cottage cheese and applesauce for Breakfast Protein drink around 10:30 pureed split pea Soup or chili around 1:30 for lunch greek yogurt with added Protein Powder at 4:30 pureed chicken with chicken broth or unjury chicken flavored protein powder for dinner at 7:30 Also, a good way to get liquid and protein together is put 1/2 scoop unflavored Unjury protein pwder in Crystal Lite. You'll never know it's there! Hope this helps

    Restless Leg Syndrome

I've been taking pramipexole also and it works great with no side effects. Forgot one night post-surgery, and it was awful. Definitely ask your Dr.
  11. The fact that you posted on here tells me you don't really want to give up! Make a commitment to yourself to go on liquids just for a week to rid yoursself of the carb cravings. You can do this!!!!! Forget the past and look to a healthier, happier future. Please let us know how you are doing.

What did you eat today :) ?

Lynda, you mentioned V8 juice one day. Did you drink that with your meal? If so, was it ok? I like v8 and milk but havent figured out how to fit them into my food plan.

    Am i doing something wrong?

My Dr. said 10 lbs. a month. It may not seem like much now, but that's 120 pounds in a year! About the clothes: is there a consignment store or Value Village near you? Maybe you could find a few used things to get you by.

    Sick of Chicken Broth

Have you tried unjury chocolate warm? To me it tastes like hot chocolate and goes down easily.

    weight gained back

I'm confused when people talk about gaining weight back after being sleeved. How can you gain weight when you can only physically eat 1/2 cup or less of food at a meal? Do some eat only high calorie foods and eat every hour or so? I've only been sleeved 3 weeks, but it seems to me that you'd have to work hard to gain all your weight back ( or even part of it). Am I being naive?
  16. I only had to do 2 days on clear liquids and 1 week on full liquids, so was on pureed after 9 days, and had no problems at all. Pureed soups are good, as well as cottage cheese. You'll be fine and it seems you'll be more likely to fulfill your protein requirements if you find something you like. I stilll have one protein drink a day... usually hot chocolate. Good luck!
  17. I just finished my second week since surgery. I have been on the pureed stage this week and start soft foods tomoorrow. Yippee! I decided to weigh myself only once a week so I can see results. At my 1 week follow-up Dr. appt., I had lost 9 pounds since surgery day (plus about 10 lbs. surgery water and air weight). Today I was so excited to weigh after my 2nd week and was so disappointed to have lost 0! Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I am following the recommended pureed diet, with 1/4 c meals and one protein drink a day. Cottage cheese and applesauce for breakfast, protein drink mid-morning, pureed soup for lunch, greek yogurt with 1/2 scoop protein powder mid-afternoon, and chicken protein broth with chicken breast pureed and poured over spoon of mashed potatoes. I also noticed my calcium chews have 20 calories each and I've been eating 3 of them a day, so will be looking for different ones. Am I eating too much? Or is this lag just catching up after losing 9 (19 with water/air loss) the week before? Thanks for any feedback.

    Pureed Foods

I just blended 1/4 c chicken broth (or chicken broth protein powder) with 1 ounce cooked chicken and poured it over a spoonful of mashed potatoes. Yum! Another favorite is blended chili or hearty soup, like split pea. And Greek yogurt once a day. Tomorrow I'm going to try blending a meatball with spaghetti sauce. Applesauce and cottage cheesse usually go down easily too. I don't get eggs yet on pureed stage... next week on soft and mushy stage. Good luck!!
  24. I just had to comment. I am amazed at the number of younger people on here, and a bit jealous of the life changes you have coming to you. I have been overweight since I was about 25. At 30, I lost 75 pounds at WW, became a WW leader, and thought I had it made. Well, you probablly know what eventually happened. Fast forward 10 years...at 40 I entered an extensive hospital-sponsored liquid diet program. Nothing but liquids for 8 months and I lost 115 pounds. Terrific, right?? Gained it all back plus more. Since then, WW many times, South Beach, etc etc.... yo-yoing my way thru life. Which brought hbp, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, arthritic knees, back pain. I love to travel, and each trip got more painful and more difficult until I no longer wanted to go. Soooo, finally, at age 63, I decided to have surgery. I was sleeved 9 days ago and I am thrilled! I had a fabulous surgeon, and my recovery so far has been very good. And for the first time in many years, I am hopeful and excited for the future with better health and many more trips. So kudos to you younger sleevers for taking charge of your lives now instead of fighting the horrible battle alone and struggling thru 20 or 30 more years of yoyo dieting. I am proud of all of you!
