Honestly, who has had zero problems
ella74ny replied to sparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I consider myself one of the blessed individuals who has had none of the side effects/problems/complications - whatever you want to call them. My surgery was on April 29 and I'm down about 20 lbs. I've been steadily loosing about 2 lbs a week with no stalls as of yet. The recovery was quite easy except for the 6 hours in recovery following the surgery - gas pains which thank God were gone the very next day. Thankfully I've avoided bouts of nausea or vomiting so as I said I consider myself pretty lucky and truly blessed. -
Any APRIL SLEEVERS? Let me know your progress !

I figured I'll post my stats as well - here are the details: Height: 5,6" 4/13 - pre-op testing weight: 266.0 LBS 4/29 - surgery day: 251.5 LBS 5/31 - weekly weight-in: 239.5 LBS It's been slow but steady and I'm loving the experience. Haven't had any issues with food or liquids so things are quite easy. Just need to incorporate more exercise as I've been slaking off in that department. -

Pre made Protein shakes
ella74ny replied to yamgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the best one so far has been GNC's Total Lean Shake in Swiss Chocolate Flavor. At 14oz. only 170 cal 6g Carbs but you get 25g protein. i think that's pretty decent. -
Hello there... I'm a new member entering my third week post surgery. So far things are going very well. Slow and steady weight loss, no issues with recovery or subsequent diet but of course I knew that I'm going to screw things us somehow - it was just too easy ... So today. first day back at work, had some lunch of chicken salad and afterward some gum to cleanse my palette and long and behold I've .... swallowed the gum! Now what, any ideas how it's going to affect me? What am i to expect? Blockage, potential leak? I am freaking out ... I figured I'll reach out to the community before contacting my NUT or surgeon ... so far it's been about 20 minutes and I'm ok ... just feel like I have something stuck in my throat. Any feedback would be much appreciated! -d

ella74ny replied to ella74ny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the laugh! I'll look into the strips tomorrow. For now it's little disposable toothbrushes that have toothpaste sot of build into the, They are small, discrete and I can even get away with using them at my desk. -

I was actually wondering about this topic going to work this morning. I'm glad to hear that I'm not doing something wrong since I've hadn't had any issues with getting my liquids in. Thanks!! -

I was actually considering Listerine Breath Strips that you simply place on your tongue and they simply dissolve... any thoughts? -

Thanks for your input. I agree, it is amazing how the instructions vary based on who did your surgery... -
Anyone been sleeved at New york hospital queens
ella74ny replied to hopeliveshere's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Since I've already had very positive experience with NYU Medical Center I've decided to go with their NYU Langone Weight Management Program. I went to seminar led by Dr. Christine Ren and decided to use her as my surgeon. I was initially interested to do the Lap-Band but after thinking it over and some additional research I opted for the VSG and I am so happy with my decision. I'm sorry i don't have any suggestions for Queens but hopefully there are others who might give you some recommendations. Best of luck! -d -
Am I going to die ... ?
ella74ny replied to ella74ny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone - you are the best! I did speak with the nurse at the surgeon's office and he confirmed that I should be fine. As long as I'm not vomiting or having issues with drinking, the gum will run it's trail to my system and that should be the end of the story. Lesson learned!!! -
