I'm not able to eat purée food yet and I'm still on full liquids. The place where I had mine done has all the patients do 1 week of clear,5 weeks on full liquid, 1 week of purée, and then soft foods. They do this to make sure the staple line has fully healed. So it's easy for me to get my liquids in when its pretty much all I have so I'm jealous that you get eggs! LOL! I walked a half mile today but I didn't get a chance to walk the second half. Maybe if you try getting your fluids before food it might free up your belly? Or ask your doctor if you should try a full liquid diet for a while and not eat the heavier purée food. Sorry I'm not much help.

Had my first bad reaction to a protein today. It was body fortress chocolate, I mixed it with 1 cup skim milk and 2 Tbsp on powdered milk and I was so sick! I guess I won't be trying that again anytime soon! Which is sad because it had like 47 grams of protein.

That's great! I'm trying to walk more on the treadmill I have been doing 20 minutes a day I would like to start counting miles and not minutes soon. No digestion issues and I haven't had any issues with getting in my protein or fluids but I am counting down the days until I can eat even purée food! (29 days) I'm hoping that I won't have any issues with anything, right now it doesn't seem like my tastes have changed.

So I was sleeved on July 26th and had my share of problems that included an emergency surgery and a total of 4 blood transfusions and a 5 day hospital stay. I haven't had any other issues and I have to be on a 5 week full liquid diet for healing reasons. I'm loosing weight each day and I walk on my treadmill each day. I'm still in a bit of pain but that is also getting better each day. I was just wondering how all the other July sleevers are doing? I know I have a bit of different circumstances but how is everyone's pain levels and healing progress?

I'm 5 2" and I was just sleeved on July 26th. I have been having some problems and gained 17 lbs in water weight while in the hospital. I have been home since July 31 st and I have lost all that and I'm down 3 lbs pre op plus I'm still swollen so I'm hoping to get better numbers soon. -
I was sleeved on July 26th at 8:30 am. I was doing great in recovery and during the change over to my room. It wasn't until later in the day that I had the breathing guy come into my room to talk to me about how to use the Breathing device when he saw that my heart rate was 135. He called the nurse and they check my blood pressure it was 90/60! I felt fine and was confused what was happening the surgeon came into the room and paced for a few minutes thinking. The nurse rolled me over slightly and found that I was bleeding heavily from my drain. It was at that time, 8:30 pm 12 hours later, they rushed me back into surgery. That surgery took just over 3 hours. I had two blood transfusions. The doctor had cleaned all the blood from my gut triple checked every stitch and staple. He found where one of the vessels that had been attached to the portion of the stomach they removed had popped its stitch and that was why I was bleeding out. The next morning I passed my swallow test and began clear liquids. No problem. My heart rate had dropped to around 90 and my blood pressure was much better. They checked my blood levels and they were low so they gave me a shot to help that. They checked my blood levels the next day and they were borderline. My surgeon asked if I wanted another transfusion and I left it up to him. The order came through for me to get two bags. It took 6 hours and another night in the hospital. That night I was so full of energy I didn't sleep well. They checked my blood in the morning and I found out I was good finally! My heart rate had dropped to normal range 70-80 and my blood pressure was perfect! I was able to leave the hospital after 5 nights! I have been home for three days. I figured out last night that I also have thrush and must wait until Monday to call the doctor and yesterday I noticed my right foot had swollen double in size. I was told by the nurse to remove my compression stockings and call today to let her know if the swelling went down. It didn't so she checked with one of the doctors and I am now back on my water pill until Monday. I'm very thankful I have been able to overcome all these obstacles with the grace of God and I haven't had anything as serious as the first day! I'm moving around better and I have no problems keeping liquids down. I feel truly blessed and so thankful I have a great husband who helped, worried, and prayed for me the whole time.

He was. He went through a whole range of emotions in the first few days. I do thank God for pulling us both through it. Thank you!

I just figured out last night, one week after surgery, that I have thrush also. Being as it is the weekend I had my husband pick up some gentian violet from the store and I will use this until I can call them on Monday. -

I'm doing so much better and I am really hoping to leave the hospital today! I wanna go home!

Well I'm still in the hospital 5 days later and getting two more rounds of blood. I hoping to get home tomorrow and I know that emergency surgery has put me back but how long did it take most everyone else to not be in so much pain? I haven't really been up and walking just lots of sleeping and sitting up. This new full feeling is a strange one!

I haven't really heard anyone talk about how much pain they were in after surgery. Or how tired I would be. But I can tell you I am in lots of pain and I get very tired so quickly. I think I take several naps and sleep all night long. So I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has these issues. I'm only 2 days out.

Yes I'm doing a lot better, I'm just in so much pain. I haven't really been able to get up to walk but I'm hoping I will tonight.

Thank you me as we'll. my surgeon just came to check me and he told me that I had been bleeding internally and I had to have two blood infusions but he could not locate where I was bleeding. The hospital staff has been great and I being closely watched and feeling so much better.

I had my surgery yesterday and did great but when I got back to my room my heart rate jumped to 150 and my blood pressure dropped to 90/60 they increased my liquids but it didn't help much so I was sent to surgery again! I had two leaks from what I hear and they were taken care of. Passed the swallow test earlier now I am waiting for the doctor to let me start drinking water.

Getting ready to head out to the hospital. The day has finally come! Wish me luck!

My surgery is tomorrow and I have been busy today with cleaning and laundry. I am surprised how calm I am considering the roller coaster ride of emotions I have been on over the last week. God bless and good luck to all who are going through this.
