    Accelerated heartbeat

Have you considered dehydration? I was severly dehydrated and had to get IV fluids just last week. I had some lower back irritaion and excelerated heart beat. I also was not producing enough siliva to help swollow food. Had nausea to the point I couldn't tolorate water. And felt over all crappy. If you think this is possible. Call your doctor and/or go to hospital. If its a leak I think you will be in sever pain. Either way a call to doctor of visit to the ER would be in order.

    scared

I can't seem to eat anything and haven't been able to in several days. I had an Upper GI today and when I called the office to check on the results and they said if its serious they would call today but if not they would call tomorrow. I didn get a call so I'm guessing its not serious but I still can't eat anything. I'm scared and hungry. I have no energy and I feel like I may pass out at any point. I need reasurance and maybe ideas on what to do.

I can not believe the difference between Friday and today. I feel 100% better. I've been able to eat some and even got down most of an Ensure this morning. Still have not gotten all 64oz of water but I did get double what I was getting last week.
  4. So I had to go in and get 2 liters of IV fluid yesterday due to dehydration. And this morning I started spotting. So question, do you have to increase your fluid intake while on your cycle? I'm already having a hard time getting my fluids in. I don't want to have to go back in for more IV's.

Question about that time of the month

Thanks though. I just don't want to ever feel like that again. I have never felt so bad in my life.

Well the Upper GI came back good. I was sent to get 2 liters of IV fluids. I'm still really thirsty and mushy food still doesn't want to go down. I do feel better though. Just wish I could eat something.

Thank you. I ran out of the meds about 2 days ago. I just didn't feel up to driving over to pick up the new prescription. I did get a dose last night and this morning. Although it doesn't appear to be helping much. I was able to get down 4 swollows of Ensure this morning before the brickwall came up. I called the doctor's office again and explained that I'm quite miserable and they said the doctor should be in shortly. She had surgery this morning. They'd have her look at the GI results and they'd call me back. Also explained I'm positive I'm dehydrated also. Hopefully they will order some fluids. I'm despirate to feel better. Even if that means getting that nasty little IV line.

Sorry. I'm 4 weeks out. I'm nausious but no vomiting. I'm working on fluids but definately don't get enough. I can not tolorate anything with flavor so its just been Water that I'm drinking. My intolorance to flavor also includes Protein drinks. At one point I was able to do the unflavored Protein powder but the last few days I haven't been able to get even that down. Its been gradual. At first it was just solid food I couldn't get down. Felt like it was getting stuck in my throat or something. So I went back to mushy but that seemed too thick too. I was able to get some Soup broth down yesterday but today the thicker soup broth I tried wouldn't go down. Now I'm trying to drink some power aid zero mixed with water but the taste is turning me off. I ran out of my nausea med and my PPI. I just sent my hubby to the store to pick them up. Hopefully I can get the nausea med in tonight. When I had my Upper GI today the tech asked if I had the same study done before my surgery and I said no. I asked if she saw something and she looked at me for a moment and said she wouldn't tell me if she did. Something tells me maybe she did see something. Although I'm guessing since the doctor didn't call its not major. I'm sure I won't actually starve to death but it sure feels like it at the moment.
  9. I haven't been feeling very good lately. I can't eat but maybe a couple bite of anything. I have a hard time drinking anything thicker than water. And can't get enough water in either. It feel like the food is sitting in my esophagus and is acting like it wants to come back up. I have the feeling of something right there in my throat. Feeling faint when I get up in the morning and my energy level is non-existant. I called my doctors office and they have ordered another Upper Gi. Hopefully I will know what's up soon. I kind of expected them to order IV fluids but they didn't.
  10. A little back ground info. I work in a call center and I am on the phone all day long. I've noticed ever since I returned to work last week that I swollow a lot of air when I speak. My tiny tummy is not liking this air much. So, question is anyone else to a lot of talking and have problems swollowing air? What are you doing to combat this?

    weird question

Ah I was wondering if it GasX would help or not. I assume the chewable would be ok at 4 weeks post op.
  12. So I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow. I was curious. Can we have sugar free breath mints? I'm tired of the foul taste in my mouth. Its there 24/7 even right after brushing and especially after eating. I think I would feel a heck of a lot better if I didn't have this taste all the time.

    wondering

Thanks. I had a couple SF peppermint candies in my desk at work. I tried one mid-afternoon and it didn't make me nausious like most sweetenen things. And it did help with that awful taste for a while.

    Pain lots or little?

Everyone's tolorance to pain is different. I had a great deal of pain for over 2 weeks. Even with that I was not "in bed". I was still up walking around and picking the kids up from school. I was just I LOT slower in doing it. I also had to hold my gut when ever I moved. But I know from experience that I have a very low tolorance to pain.
  15. I had spasms in my stomach the first day on liquids. I was told it was normal.

    Post op day 1 question

I'm not sure if its exactly the same but it would feel like some one put a pile of bricks on my chest when I took a small sip of anything. I would have to wait for it to go away before I could take another sip. It has gotten a lot better. Now I only get that feeling if I drink too much at one time. I'm 3 weeks post op.
  17. I ate cottage cheese today and it was soooooo yummy! I know, how exciting can that possibly be but I'm three weeks out and have not been to tolorate anything more than Soup broth. Not even the normal chicken or beef broth (gag) but broth of soup. Made chicken taco soup for the family and ate the broth. Ordered soup from chinese place. Egg drop and their house soup ate the broth for both. Btw that house soup was suprisingly good. I think its going to be a staple for me for a while. I'm so happy to eat something solid and not feeling ill afterwards. Also I'm able to take bigger sips of Water which is doing a lot in helping me get my fluids in. I go back to work tomorrow also. Glad I get to pack something besides strained soup for lunch.

    super excited

I'm supposed to be on the puree stage but I can't stand it. I can't even take normal food and puree it and eat it. I'm not sure if it's in my mind or a texture thing but it makes me gag. I've tried to eat no sugar added apple sauce and couldn't get past the taste. I have some apple sauce that I canned last spring but I'm afraid to try it. I put sugar and nutmeg in it and so far the sweet stuff has a funny taste to me. I have been able to get through a pudding cup a couple times. Tried greek yogurt blended but its too sweet. I did followed the advise of someone on this board and have been making my own protein drinks with unflavored protein powder so I am getting some of those down. I really can't wait to get past all these stages and be able to eat normal food. I think I'd be a lot happier.
  19. My NUT actually says no fluids 5 minutes before meals and 30 minutes after. His theory is its hard enough to get all the fluids in with out loosing time waiting.
  20. Everyones pain tolerance is different. At almost 2 weeks I couldn't stand long enough to cook dinner for the kids. Couldn't get in or out of bed with out help. When I did get up and walk I had to hold my gut the whole time. My doctor reminded me that I had just had major surgery and it will take time to heal. She said to take it easy, stop trying to do too much and to take my meds (I had gone off them so that I could drive my kids to and from school). Today one week later I am significantly better. I can cook and do some house work again. I can get up and down and shower on my own. I can even bend down to pick up the new puppy to take him outside. And my crowning acheivement I can wear a pair of pants one size smaller than before surgery without pain. So in short your body will heal at its own pace and all of a sudden you will feel worlds better. Good luck in your healing.

    nausea

Are you able to drink tea? There is a lemon/ginger tea that might help with the nausea.

    pureed

So started pureed food yesterday. So far everything I try to eat sits like a lead weight in my chest.

    pureed

I managed to get down 2/3 of 8oz. I've been nursing it for an hour and a half. I'm really tired of the taste at this point. But its an improvement. Thanks again

    pureed

Thank you so much. I made a smoothie with half a banana, half a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder, half of a pudding cup of vanilla pudding and 1/2 of soy milk and a few ice cubes. I've been able drink about 4 oz so far. This is far better than before.
  25. Wow. I have been wondering why my mouth never felt clean anymore even right after brushing. I was thinking it was because I'm having hard time getting in my fluids. Maybe that's not it after all.
