It gets better. One morning you'll wake up and suddenly you'll be about to get more down. It just takes time. Try to be patient and not try to push to hard. I know your thinking "easy for you to say" But we've all been there. I promise it will get better.

I have not tried to drink soda since surgery (12 weeks out) but I really have no intentions to. There is a lot of nasty stuff in them that I'm no longer interested in consuming. Believe me it was one of my hardest habits to break. I was a 2-3 Diet Pepsi per day drinker. Plus the fear of the bubbles in my tummy is also undesirable. I find I don't miss them as much as I thought I would. Now coffee on the other hand, that I miss.

Have you tried some crystal light or those flavored drops for your Water? I know the feeling. I was nauseous for the first 4 weeks after. I ended up dehydrated and had to get 2 leters of IV fluids. My recommendation would be to get a antinausea medication from your doctor if you don't already have one. Try different fluids untill you find one you can tolerate.

Can't Stand My Protein Drinks Anymore
jatherley replied to VSGNeophyte's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried adding flavorings to them? Sugar free coffee syrups help a lot. There are quite a few different flovors. My fav is peppermint and pumpkin spice. I add them to my shakes yuo make them tolerable. -
Absolutely love the Plum series. If you like the vampire/werewolf/witch genre. You might like the Rachel Morgan (Hollow) series by Kim Harrison. Its fun and entertaining.

Hello. My Name Is Revs And I'm A Carboholic And Hungry!
jatherley replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok so at about six weeks out I was at my doctor and she was asking how much I'm eating at one time. I explained that I was getting a few bites but that's it. She said I was not consuming enough and advised that I should do several meals a day. All high protein. She said eating more calories especially protein will speed up my weightloss as well. And you know what it worked. I'm feeling worlds better and my weight is practically melting off. Maybe talk to your doctor again and explain your issues. You do need the fuel to burn the fat. Also, have you tried protein bars? I've gotten were I always have one with me in my purse. If I'm out and need a little something I will have a few bites. I can't come even close to eating a whole at time so I do not worry about the carbs in it(mine have 20 carbs) I hope that helps. -
So I have had a treadmill for years. It has sat in my bed room rearly getting used (I've been doing my walking with a co-worker on our breaks since we've felt well enough to). Well last weekend my brother in law sent a total gym home with us. The total gym however doesn't fit in our room. So my wonderful husband decides it is time to turn our cluttered garage into a workout room/playroom. We still need to pick up a TV and a space heater (Texas does get a little cool after the sun goes down) but the room turned out really nice. Now I'm ready to get my toning started.

I'm considering having one every morning instead of a shake. I haven't been able to eat an egg or anything else breakfasty since surgery. And I usually eat breakfast on the run so my options are limited. The bars I found that I like are the Quest bars. The carb counts a bit high but I try not to consume to many any other place right now. I'm still focusing on getting enough Protein in.

Hmm I can't seem to figure out which forum this fits in best so I guess I'll post it here. I put on a pair of 20 jeans! AND then bent over and tired my shoes without turning blue in the process. I did the happy dance!!!!! Last week the 20's were still a bit snug.

Did you ever figure out your subscription issue? I'm having the same problem. Also am not getting notifications on threads I commented on or started.

I'm having the same issue. Irritating to say the least.

Yeah I have bad buyers remorse in the beginnning. After I got past the dehydration its been all good.

Yesterday was my 2 month surgiversary. I am 60lbs down since the start of the process and 30lbs since surgery. It was a rough start but I'm eating and drinking more every day. I can finally say I'm glad I did this.

I've never had smart water. I'll look into it. Thanks

Ok so at about 5 weeks out I had to get IV fluids due to dehydration. I felt tons better after but still have yet to get the required 64oz in. The last few days have been really busy at work and I've forgotten to keep up with my fluids (what I was managing to get in anyway) Now I'm starting to feel dehydration coming on again. I started drinking some G2 yesterday. I got a full 20 ozs in yesterday and I almost have another 20oz in today. How much will it take to combat the dehydration? I really don't want t have to go back for fluids.

Thanks for the replies. I do have an app on my phone to remind me to drink. I have to leave it on vibrate mode while at work. This past week I've been helping train a new girl and since we have someone training the new girl all day, one person on maternaty leave and one peron out sick for 2 days, our 4 person team was reduced to 1.5 people. Which ment non-stop phone calls and data entry. I have to admit I ignored the buzzing on my phone or didn't notice it at all until I started getting that feeling in the back of my throat. In reference to Gatorade 2 does it really combat dehydration or is it just empty calories? And if it does how much is it going to take? I drank a 20 oz bottle of it both Friday and Saturday along with as much Water as I could get in and I'm still feeling the drying in my throat. My health coach also recommnded putting a pinch of salt in my water with the therory that water follows salt into you cells. I tried that once but haven't tried again. I don't want to consume too much salt. Thanks Any other suggestions? I REALLY do not want another IV.

I do try to not get on the scale multiple times during the day (its hard but I try) because I know that it fluctuates several times during the day. I usually weight first thing in the morning. After I have used the restroom and before I climb into the shower. I want to be at my lightest for the day. I have had NSV I'm wearing my wedding band for the first time in years (got too small). My feet no longer fit in my dress shoes. I'm wearing 2 pant sizes smaller and nothing is tight on me. I managed to chaperone a lockin with the music department with of my daughters school. At a pizza place and only ate the cheese off the top of a piece of pizza around midnight to keep my energy up. While I walked the arcade for 8 hours helping keep 300 kids in line last weekend. Never could have done that 58lbs ago. I am grateful to have be on this journey. Am I perfect no but I'm better. I just love that I can be not perfect for a change and still see the scale more. The most frustrating thing for me and diets is when I'm perfectly eating exactly what I'm supposed to and busting my butt working out and not seeing the scale move. So, yeah so watching it move is entertaining to me :-D

Ok so I'm not known for having addictive tendencies but I have been known to become obessed. For example we took a cruise a few years ago to Celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I planned it for a year read everything I could find on cruises and researched the who's, what's and what fors. If I start a book series I have to read the entire series back to back until its done. So, I realized this morning I'm obsessed with the scale. I never used to be. I used to hate the scale. Never kept one in the house. Now I have to step that thing every morning. I get tickled to see just a couple ounces gone. I haven't worried too much when the scale doesn't move or is up slightly. But seeing it down morning after morning is the high light of my day. Down 58 pounds since the start of my journey and down 28 since surgery 8/27. Not a fast looser but a looser none the less.

I had to look those up online. Can you get them sugar free? I know from experience when it comes to chocolate I can't stop at one. I might be better off steering clear of all candy type things. I am fat for a reason after all. I never went a day without sugar or carbs pre-sleeve and detoxing from them was rough. I think roasted Edamame might be a good treat but I need to find a good recipe. I bought a bag of preroasted and I didn't like the taste. I've tried pumpkin seeds but they were store bought as well and really high in sodium and I think I should steer clear of excess sodium as well.

Ice cream, Cookies, fries, all the carb loaded goodies that were my go to's when I was having a hard day. I have been doing decently since surgery (7 weeks out) with emotional eating but I had a hard day today at work and now all I can think about is wanting some comfort food. Feeling sad.
-
J.Michelle - I know the feeling. I have a stressful job as well. One thing I have been doing since before surgery is walking during my scheduled breaks. And taking a full hour for lunch which of course I don't need anywhere near an hour to eat my 8 bites but I use that time to clear my mind for the afternoon. JerseyGirl68 - I'm sad to say it was not because I didn't want to. I do not allow junk in the house (I have no will power. If its there I will probably try to eat it once at least. Found out the hard way Cookies are a no go and band them from the house.) and once I'm home in the evenings I don't go back out. But my husband and daughter ate out while they were going to tutoring and then the grocery store (to get something needed for dinner which I ended up not cooking) and my son wanted something to eat before my husband got back from the store. So I ended up having lunch meat and sliced cheese with a couple crackers. For some reason crackers help me get the lunch meat down (I'm not a fan of lunch meat). So technically I did have some carbs. Not what I normally would have had. This is a meal I've eaten a few times in the last couple weeks. I hate cooking for just me.

Yeah I need to find an activity. I wish a bubble bath would do it but sadly I have not lost enough weight to be able to lay in my tub AND have water in it yet.
