More Confidence Since Being Approved?
inarakatra replied to unbesleevable1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually felt the same way. I thought my surgery date would be sooner, then I found out it would be the 28th of Oct, which depressed me a little. I keep telling myself..."THIS IS FOREVER"... there's no reason to hurry, but I'm ready. -
Wow...I hope this gets better for you.

Can u take to much protein
inarakatra replied to georgia72886's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I think it depends on height, goal weight, etc., but my doctor said a minimum of 80 grams for me. They want me to get 80 to 110 grams a day. I'm 5'8" -

I have two more weigh in for the 6 month supervised diet by my doctor. She wanted me to lose 5 pounds. (Weigh in is this Friday) Not only did I NOT lose 5 pounds, but I gained 4. UGH ... I feel bloated and horrible. I want to cry. I have been overweight forever and I'm still overweight. I just want to crawl in a hole. A deep dark hole. To make it worse, my husband wants to go to Six Flags Saturday and me to meet his friend. Why couldn't he wait 2 or 3 months. I'm totally disgusted with myself.

@gmanbat thanks I agree with the "if losing weight was easy" part. @Kygirlkeshia I am a few pounds below my starting, so hopefully my insurance won't deny me. @proudgrammy Thanks for the virtual tissue and pep talk. I needed it. @zoftig I just wanted to make a good first impression and so many people judge us by our looks. I am about to start (Aunt Flo) and I hope my doctor understands that. I try not to let my weight define who I am, but it's just a tough area for me to overcome. --- Thanks Everyone!!!

Bariatric Advantage Necter takes like Jello!
inarakatra posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this stuff. It taste like Jello in a liquid form. It's created for the clear liquid diet and more. Protein ON THE MARKET! Welcome to the critically acclaimed world of Nectar™! Gone are the days of low quality whey protein. Gone are the days of those blah-tasting Protein drinks that promise much but deliver little. Nectar™ once-and-for-all breaks the mold by combining Promina™, the highest quality Whey Protein Isolate ever developed, with a flavoring system that is so fruitilicious that you will never drink a different whey Protein shake ever again. Why Nectar™? Absolute highest quality whey protein isolate called Promina™ (the most refined, highest quality whey protein isolate on the market). Promina™ is created by ultra filtering whey with a very specific, delicate process that isolates heat away from the all-important Proteins. Contains totally undenatued health-promoting protein fractions in whey. Each flavor tastes like refreshing juice that was just squeezed out of a ripe piece of fruit with a total absence of any protein taste. Also designed to be able to be eaten right out of the container like candy (compare it to pixie type candy). Contains ZERO carbs and ZERO fat. Aspartame Free in ALL flavors Available Flavors (ALL ASPERTAME FREE!!): Apple Ecstasy Caribbean Cooler Crystal Sky Fuzzy Navel Roadside Lemonade strawberry Kiwi Lemon Tea -
That must be so frustrating. Keep us posted on your results. I didn't have to do much other than wait 6 months for supervised visits. I still have 47 days until I can be approved. Best of luck!

You should be very proud. It's so hard to resist food when around family and watching them eat. I always think that ... this isn't a big deal ... but in the end it is. The temptation is great and hard to overcome. Thus the reason I've overweight. I would be very very proud if I were you.

I'm so excited for you.

Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
inarakatra replied to janie2024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a date yet, but it should be the last week in September. There is a chance it will be the first week in October. -
Horrified by my near-nekkid pictures
inarakatra replied to gamergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way that you do. I feel skinny until I see pictures of myself or se myself in a mirror. But that is why I'm having this surgery so that the me on the inside matches me on the outside. -

I would. Especially if zenandnow had the issues she did. You don't want them doing that to you. I'm glad that zenandnow got it worked out. Insurances can be a serious pain! -
United Healthcare (Optimum Health Bariatric Resources)
inarakatra replied to SuNMooNStaRS816's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have UHC with Bariatric Resources. I have the direct line to my nurse and have reach her three times without issues. She told me that she would call me again at the end of August because I will have only one more weigh in at that point. She said she would call to see how I was doing. It's so weird how different people have different experiences. I do know that my job decided what the requirements would be. So my requirements are 6 months (6 visits once a month over the next 6 months) of supervised diet, Psychological Evaluation, Body mass index (BMI) must be at least 35-39.9 with at least one obesity-related medical condition (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea) OR over 40. <== (I'm the 40+ part). Now I did have to pick a doctor that they listed and meet the doctor's requirements. I've heard great things from most everyone who has this type of insurance. Best of luck! -

When does the 6 moth waiting period start?
inarakatra replied to charlie707's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I have to do the 6 months of supervised visits. I've completed 4 of them. I have one on Aug 9th and another September 9th and then I'm ready for insurance to approve and surgery date to be made. My bariatric dr knows that I want to get it done asap. -
September Sleevers...! Come on in and chat!
inarakatra replied to birdmadgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
September 9th is my final weigh in and when my bariatric doctor can send my paperwork off for approval. I plan to start the two week liquid diet the week before my weigh in so that they can schedule as soon as I'm approved. The Approval time for my insurance is less than a week. I will keep doing the liquid diet until the surgery. They said that they would schedule it as quickly as possible which should be the end of September. I don't have the exact date yet. I'm so freakin excited (WHOO HOO) <== that's me being excited. -
When does the 6 moth waiting period start?

For me (United Health Care - Optimum Health Bariatric Resources) the start date was the first weigh in that I had with my general doctor noting my bmi at 40+. -
Too "small" for surgery?
inarakatra replied to bettyboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 40 BMI. I gain weight evenly and because of it, people think I don't need the surgery. I feel I do because I know that my body is starting to suffer from my weight. It's a choice that I'm making. You have to make the choice or the tool that it is will fail you. I think everyone here would say that it's a great choice. I'm doing it because I feel the same, but it is your choice.
