SueJH started following Tomorrow Is 1 Year, Officially "Normal"!, Firming lotions for the loose skin? and and 7 others

As of this morning, my BMI is officially in the "normal" range. I can't believe I am finally there. In the beginning I thought I was a slow loser, but things added up and I am here. I want to lose 8 more lbs and I know I'll get there!

Loose Skin for Younger Sleevers?
SueJH replied to nynewlywed's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've lost 90lbs. I have some wrinkly skin around my tummy, thighs and upper arms. I'm 9 months out so I still have some time for some of it to hopefully rebound. Time will tell! -
Firming lotions for the loose skin?
SueJH replied to cdestrada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I bought a bottle of the Philosophy Amazing Grace lotion. I am about 2/3 done with the bottle and really haven't noticed a big difference. I usually put it on in the morning after my shower. I am considering buying another bottle and doing 2x a day just to give it a fair chance. -
Loose Skin for Younger Sleevers?
SueJH replied to nynewlywed's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm not a "younger sleever", but I do have some loose skin. From everything I've read and been told you should wait about 2 years before considering any kind of plastic surgery because your skin can still rebound. Congrats on your success so far! -

Hair Loss - A Harsh Reality. Picture of Loss.
SueJH replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started losing mine right around the 3 month mark. I decided to cut it short so it wouldn't be as noticeable both with it thinning out and with the regrowth. I'm just reaching my 9 month mark since surgery and it started slowly down considerably about a month ago. It's growing back so I have these little short hairs everywhere. The funny thing is that at my 6 month follow up with my surgeon, he said he never heard of people losing their hair.......really! Anyway, yes it is a huge shock but it does come back. Also on that note, my hairdresser does notice a little bit of a change in the texture of my hair. Another thing to watch out for. -
I think the fact that you have a very supportive husband that already loves you for you is a major plus! You will definitely have more energy. I've lost 90lbs and have some rather unattractive wrinkly skin on my tummy and thighs. I recently started dating someone about 2 months ago and he constantly tells me that I look great to him. That's all that matters!

Thanks all!

Keedy - my SW was 218.

A little over 8 months out. About 15lbs from my goal. So happy with my decision to do this. Could do without the sagging skin, but I'll work on that!

What should my true goal weight be?
SueJH replied to penman53's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think this is something you should speak to your primary MD or your surgeon about. According to your BMI, you are still overweight. Will you get down below 225? Maybe, but once you level off you might put a few pounds back on so it's not a bad thing to have a few pounds "in the bank". Part of the issue may be that your pulmonologist may be used to seeing you at your heaviest and isn't used to seeing you at this weight. Ultimately it's your decision. Good luck! -
Help! Protein is killing me!
SueJH replied to rhondafranklin03's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
which nectar did you get? I didn't like most of them either but I could handle the fuzzy navel one. Reminded me a little of orange juice instead of all the usual chocolate, vanilla and strawberry you usually have to choose from. -
Top Secret: Who did you tell?
SueJH replied to w8loser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've told just about everyone from family to co-workers. I have had nothing but great support from them all. Were some of them a little worried for me before going into surgery? Sure, but now that it is over and they see that I made it through fine and am healthier, they are even more happy for me. You need to do what is right for you. I feel that I am very lucky to have such an amazing circle of people around me, but unfortunately not everyone is as lucky as I have been. Best of luck to you on your journey! -
Congratulations! And hope you're feeling better after your recent surgery!

My pre-op program wasn't as strict as some of the others I've read about on here. Sure I had to watch what I ate and try to lose weight, but I only had to do Clear liquids the day before surgery, not for a couple of weeks like I've heard about. Post-op was pretty similar to others. Full liquids for 2 weeks, then onto soft solids for 4 weeks. After that I could introduce something new every week to see how I would tolerate it. I often eat the same thing daily, especially Breakfast and lunch. Good luck to you! As long as you follow your program, you will not do anything wrong!
