Karen353, Yes! You are doing great. What is the total amount of pounds you want to lose? warmly, WeeWers

Mokee, Do know why you aren't losing the way you would like? How is your carb intake? Plenty of Protein? I'v read in The Big Book that it's protein first, then veggies, then a bit of fruit -- with the idea that by the time you eat your veggies -- you'll have no room for the fruit. Let us know how you are doing -- we all care about you here. warmly, WeeWers

Posted Today, 8:47 AM Hi, I'm here and almost sixty. Have you had your surgery yet? Where are you from and who's your doctor? Hope to see many responders to this thread. Hi Group, To answer these questions, I haven't had my surg yet. I'm from Charlotte and Dr. Pirello is my surgeon. Good surgeon I've heard -- but very cold. How about everyone else?? warmly, WeeWers

WeeWers here. I have read opposing answers if you are able to have a moderate amount of caffeine after surgery.. Anyone here know the "real deal?" warmly, WeeWers

What are the essentials right after surgery?
WeeWers replied to AddryW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WeeWers here. I would recommend getting "The Big Book on the Gastric Sleeve" It's a huge book that covers every single thing a pre-sleever would want to know. You can have it overnight-ed through Amazon if you wish. God's Favor on your surgery! warmly, WeeWers -
Any June 2013 Sleevers out there ?
WeeWers replied to BloomingFaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! WeeWers here. I'm going to be done in June but haven't been given a date yet -- can I still be a part. I would *love* to keep in touch with June Sleevers!! Dr. Pirello, Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, NC warmly, WeeWers -
Can someone *please* tell me why when I click on "notifications" I see no text, but only the person's profile??? Aaaah!!

I feel for your situation right now. Everyone here has already given the best suggestions. I want to tag on seeing a Counselor. You're dealing with head-hunger, not physical hunger. Even if it was a mix of real physical hunger -- your food choices would have been different. Also, I suggest an Accountability partner. Not the whole board -- but someone specific that you can check in every day with who has done well. Those are my 2 suggestions dear. Keep trying. Never, never give up!! warmly, WeeWers

Does insurance ever cover a TT when the hanging skin is very severe?
WeeWers posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would love to know the circumstances under which an insurance company paid for your TT. Thank you, WeeWers -
Vena Cava Filter, did you decide against it?
WeeWers replied to WeeWers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Ginny & cejiogu, I'm definitely going to see my cardiologist about the filter, warmly, WeeWers -
But I didn't. He said I have to lose 20 pounds first and get a psych eval. My doctor wrote him a letter in lieu of a psych eval -- but he wants the entire she-bang!! (all the forms filled out). So I'm trying to be mature about the disappointment. After-all, I'm still going to be able to have my surg in June. Any June folks here?? warmly, WeeWers

To the folks who lost 100 pounds in a very short time. How in the heck did you do it???!! Did you eat like zero carbs? Did that play a role? Did you exercise like fiends? Please share what you think you did that gave you results so different from most people on this forum !! WeeWers

Is there anyone here who is over 60 who has to lose more than 100 lbs.?
WeeWers replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you all for the kind responses!! (BTW that's what my grand-daughters call me, Grammy) I'm worried about how lonnnnnng until my goal weight. What kept you going during the stall times? Did you have weight loss discouragements along the way. Did you have a particular buddy that helped you. Did you go through counseling to deal with the "head-hunger?" Did you ever 'fall off the wagon?' Please do tell, WeeWers -
A lot of the excess skin is if you are young enough to still have elasticity to your skin. Of course the more you have to lose -- the more likely-hood of lose skin. I have 165 pounds to lose and am 60 -- so I expect to have a lot of hanging skin. I'm also blessed to have the funds to get plastic surgery. Being over-whelmed at the AMOUNT of weight I have to lose is my biggest angst. Blessings, WeeWers

I admire those of you who share how you are losing weight -- in trying to use your personal story to help educate others. Me? I'm too much of a coward. I *know* there are people in my life who would strongly disapprove, and I'm just not emotionally up to their negative comments. I have an auto-immune disease that has me home-bound. I'm on strong narcotics for the pain. Many days I can't walk across the room without crying -- my feet are so bad. The disease attacks your joints and internal organs. Only times I get out of the house are to doc apps and then I have to be in a wheel-chair -- which I've found so humiliating. I couldn't even get the regular size wheel-chair. They had to order an "extra wide" one. My disease makes me unable to stand for more than about a minute to a minute and a half. So showering is out. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay to huge to get into our tiny bath-tub (I'm 305 and climbing) and so the only way I can get a little clean is for my beloved husband to give me a bed bath. My self-care is abominable. It's too shameful to share. My life is a postage stamp and I live in my Lazy-Boy chair. My poor husband has to do everything. I feel so badly for burdening him this way. My weight greatly exacerbates my illness. I have so much banking on me doing this right. I do have a lot of fear that my gluttony will win out over the feeling of full. Thank you so much for listening, I de-railed my own topic didn't I !! lol Bless you, WeeWers

Golly -- you are posting after *just* having had the surg yesterday!! You ARE doing great. Hope my surg goes as well as your! warmly, WeeWers

Outrigger! I'm 59 and most of the posts I read from post-op people -- be they under 40 or in their sixties are VERY good!! Could it be that you are just scared? We all feel (regardless of age) at least a little nervous about such a big step. Or, could it be that you still good enough that such a drastic response isn't something you really want? (Just trying to get to the root here). Either way you chose -- YOU are the one to chose decisions -- don't let ANYone pressure you (including me!) God Bless you Hon, WeeWers

I'm 59. The before and after pics I see of folks young enough to still have elasticity look wonderful. But when it's an older person -- so often they look 20 years older than they did before the surgery! It's all the hanging skin everywhere! We have to pay out of pocket for the surgery -- so it would be a long time until I'm able to have any plastic surgery. I weigh 305 pounds and am 5-6, my goal is 140. That's needing to lose 165 pounds!! I'm overwhelmed at the thought that I could go through will all of that and still hate what I see looking back at me in the mirror. I wish I felt only gratitude that I'm having the surgery -- but I feel like I'm waaaaay to old to ever look "pretty" again. Thank you for listening, WeeWers

New and hoping to make some friends
WeeWers replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
WOW you guys!! I feel utterly welcomed! Thank you for the kind and thoughtful replies. I feel I've found a home here. Really, the younger folks don't get what we 60's deal with. They just haven't had the life experience. If the flight wasn't a 15 hour flight -- I would change my surgeon to Dr. Aceves. He even comes in to check on you in the hospital several times a day! The hospital looks cleaner than most US hospitals -- and I could have had my surgery any time I wanted! He does his own pre-op the day before your surgery and so there aren't all these hoops to jump through. His cost is 8750.00 -- which includes everything but the airfare and when you're paying out of pocket makes a difference. My US doc is quite cold and uncaring. Oh well, at least I'm having the surgery. Thank you again for the warm welcome. My first app. with my doc is Monday. I'll post how it went. My fear is that it will be way far out til I can have my surg. warmly~ WeeWers
