  1. Had a bad week. I dealt with some emotional baggage and some insecurity from decade ago that took its toll on me. In my depressed aftermath, I took to food. I have gotten off my schedule and track at 5 months post op. The good thing is, I realize it. Now I just need some support and encouragement from other sleevers who have been there and gotten back up. Thanks!

Get by with a little help....

Thank you so much for the support! Sometimes we beat ourselves up, we need to get back to being kind to our bodies and nurturing it. I will work on it this weekend!

4 months out and falling off wagon

I went to my Nut Friday and we went they my eating. It turns out, my habits, overall, are very good, and I am making good progress. When she wrote it all down, my eating habits ARE a million times better than pre-surgical. Now I am beating myself up for the stalls and slips in good eating habits. I have to be nicer to myself, and I will want to feed myself with good an healthy foods in healthy amounts. I started a food diary on Calorie Count, and it's very helpful. It's all about accountability, honesty and kindness to yourself. I want to be all of those things.

4 months out and falling off wagon

I am in the same boat. Just blind hunger I can't seem to get a handle on. When I plan my food, the meals are reasonable. It's slider foods I eat in a momentary lapse of sanity that's killing me. I will try to go back on OA mtg call-ins. My geography has me out of reach of regular groups. I am going to my Nutritionist Friday and hopefully get my focus back. Work and travel really put a monkey wrench in my eating schedule!
  5. I know. I shouldn't be allowed to snack- it's where all the problems start...

    Incisional pain?

I had the horrible pain (pulling, burning, and intense) you describe at about 10 days out. (I had to help my old golden retriever get in and out of the car & had to bend and lift to do it!) My surgeon said it was the deep stitch an it would resolve by 28days Post-op. I didn't believe him as I thought I over-did it. Thankfully, I woke up on day 26 and the pain was instantly gone. Hope you have the same !

    Excercise help your plauteaus?

I am 10 weeks out and frustrated by a 5 week plateau. I am going to have to start working out HARDER- but I thought the weight loss would be a little more consistent during at least the first 6 months!
  8. Trust me, my relationship has been on the rocks for years; but now at 7 weeks post-op I am being threatened with divorce. I am slowly gaining my confidence back and my optimism, but I can't se to fix this one. I guess my weight wasn't the root of all my issues. Anyone else go thru some tough times?

  11. Totally. I am repulsed at watching my husband shovel food away completely unaware of my new consciousness of food. I don't even want to eat out anymore!

tired of being lectured on here

Amen- no one walks in your shoes. Do your thing & be smart!
  13. Three weeks out today and at Friday weigh in I am up 2.5 lbs! Reversing my weight loss from 10 to 7 lbs total since surgery! I have been super good about my puréed diet, protein and vitamins, plus I work on my feet 9 hrs all day. Discouraged, as I was hoping to see at least a 1lb loss/ week ????

    Ugh! Weight gain!

Yes- I did lose 13 pre-op, 7 in the 2 week post-op, now a stall. I feel better gearing from all of you! Thanks!!!

    Ugh! Weight gain!

Thanks all! The article made great sense and has me mentally calmed. Thanks for all the encouragement and support- I think I am in my old pattern of thinking - that nothing ever works! This time I have to believe it will and be Patient!!!

    Ugh! Weight gain!

That's why I am frustrated at only a 7 lb TOTAL weight loss in the whole 3 weeks since surgery. I just think my body wants to stay this way.

    Ugh! Weight gain!

No! My weight loss was 10lbs over 2 weeks (not 10/week). Yes- I am drinking lots of water between meals.... Just having a bad week I guess. I feel like as soon as I started puréed foods (4oz 3xday) I am gaining weight!

    Birth control pills users

I was told to continue mine, but crush everything. I am worried they won't be as effective..

Tea tree oil shampoo, hair loss!

No shampoo will create hair Growth. Stress (surgery) can cause your hair cycle to go into the shedding stage (telogen effluvium). It take quite a while and stability and adequate nutrition to grow it back in. Protein, rest, water & vitamins!

    Sleeved yesterday

I am post op day 7. Days 2-4 were the worst as far as stomach pressure/ pain with stabbing in my back, chest, shoulders, etc. My belly looked like i was 9 months pregnant it was so distended! The Gas-X won't help b/c like others said the gas is in your abdominal cavity, not your GI tract. I didn't try heating pads, so I don't know if it would help. I can testify that walking gave me the most relief. It's pretty damn uncomfortable for awhile- but by day 5/6 post-op you should be a lot better. Hang in there!!!

    May 6 post surgery

May 9th sleeve, came home today! Pressure is awful, but there are glimmers of relief coming. Just going to focus on hydration, protein, and strict pain control so I feel better ASAP!

    Kinda Scared

I spent over six months haggling with the idea and whether I could do it. I saw my primary MD, got on an anti-anxiety med, and saw a counsellor who deals with bariatric PTs and eating disorders and they both really waited until I was 'ready' mentally & physically before encouraging me to do it. I needed that mental time. I am now 2 days post-op. bloated, uncomfortable and had some question whether it was the right choice. But the more I read and the more I understand that this is the process, I am starting to trust the light at the end of the tunnel. Take the time you need to be wholly prepared and then go for it with all the support you can get. I can only imagine where I will be in 3 months! Good luck!

    Post op day one- OUCH!

Need a little support after a rough night and first day out. Lots of anxiety since none of my regular Meds were continued. Good news is no leaks on radiology today, I am taking fluids and ensure, and have all but my IV and drain out! Planning on discharge tomorrow and the comforts of home and my two best nurses- my dogs to comfort me! Tell me it gets better day by day and I will be smiling! Good luck all!!!
