I was sleeved April 30th.I was sick from the get go always vomiting always nauseous.I was in the emergency room several times for dehydration. My surgeon always gave me iv potassium to rehydrate and send me home.. On June 18th I had left shoulder pain so bad I had to call an ambulance. The medic seamed to think I had a blood clot.. Rushed me to the er. Medic left me in a room to tell the dr i needed immediate attention .... Thats all I remember until June 29 I was waking up from intubation. The drs found a huge undrainable lung infection from an esophageal leak gone unrecognized since the surgery... On July 1st a stent was placed and went home on the 10th... 6 days later back admitted for dehydration for 5 days . On 8/1 was back after having a stroke the previous night and stayed for 2 nights caused by lack of potassium Went back again on wednesday night for obsessive vomiting To find tissue growing into the stent but the leak not fully healed causing the stent to be removed and a new one placed higher in the esophagus.. Home today no food at all until after labor day liquids only... Way to nauseas to drink anything without vomiting. Any one out there have similar experience i dont want another close or call from lack of electrolytes or nutrients

My dr. Says just eat and drink what i can as for all the other stuff going wrong he says he doesnt know whats causing it all... I find it all out on the internet.... Chief of surgery of a hospital and its alway i dont know why you had a stroke... Your potassium is low though so get your potassium in... Internet says low potassium can cause strokes....i excessive saliva very sticky and gross constantly filling pitchers with spit and or vomit of foamy saliva..... Doesnt know where that comes from either.... Girl on you tube, i track her story now while i was searching for excessive saliva with esophagus stent and her story us the same as mine with the stent as well as a man with cancer with a stent... Very disappointed and fearful

Water believe it or not is hard on your stomach, try fiji water its smoother im going through the same thing.. I use paper bathroom cups for my protein.. Sometimes looking at a big bottle and saying omg i have this much to go sucks.. Ive been in the hospital fir dehydration once a week then a month for a leak ... I still have a problem with drinking and i found my relief in G2 i have no problems at all drinking it... Grape wirks best for me.. Eating is difficult... My surgeon said dont worry about too much sugar right now or calories so I went to costco and bought chaboni yogurt tubes freeze them and although they have carbs sugar they also gave protein.. From my leak I had for 3 months undetected I also have pneumonia as well as a lung infection... Idk if this helps i was sleeped 4/30 and lost 55 lbs.. Just as long as you eat something right now is what matters... I was NPO for 1 month and 2 days and the nutrition they put in your IV is horrid has no protein its really pure junk

Anyone else hate the protein shakes?
kjing9419 replied to reenalee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I tried isopure it does taste like the gatorade but the aftertaste is horrid.... Ive been told by my dr that the isopure 0 carb powder meets requirements in one 12 oz serving he told me itll be thick but quick... Drop the water or milk to 6 oz keep the isopure the same. Take little paper bathroom cups and pour 2 oz in each one so the shake doesnt look so big and sluggish every 2 hours take the shot that works to -

I am a pepsi addict and all I want to do is just pop a can and guzzle it or a big cup of ice water and chug it down... Sipping sucks!!! And Im not finding anything I can handle eating either ugh -
4weeks post op scared of leak
kjing9419 replied to Honeybeesugar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Get to the ER i called an ambulance i was sleeved March 30th and my leak was found June 18th and just left the hospital on saturday, my story is on here please read it and go to the ER via ambulance... Not worth the risk it is pure hell!!!! -
Why dont you get it done, see the emotional toll it could take, head hunger, stuck on certain fiods for a long time.... Its a big change to your mind and body... After your surgery have her eat the way you do... Every thing every day... See if she can really handle it....also with a therapist.... If she does well revisit the idea in 1 year....healing from the surgery alone is serious and hard to know if you have a leak... I had a leak and for 2 months all drs coughed it up to a weak stomach while I heal.. Not every ones story but its mine... When I wound up intubated from what every one thought was dehydration and was just thrown on IV fluids once a week wasnt the case at all... All and all its a big change to your body and mentally... I still think you should experience it all first even with no leaks... Put her on your diet see a therapist and hold off to see the experience

I was sleeved March 30th and havent really felt all that great since... I had good days and bad days.. Been to the ER several times for IV fluids for dehydration... Im not here to scare or negative talk the sleeve at all.. I eventually started having bad shoulder pain.. My primary wrote it off as skeletal.. I went to my post op surgeon said all was fine.. 3 weeks later I wound up in ER by ambulance for shoulder pain... Found out I had a severe lung infection as well as pneumonia.. Dating back to March 30th I had a leak of a small whole in my esophagus... I was operated on for the lung infection intebated in icu for 2 weeks before they even found the leak... I have no recollection of anything other then calling 911... I only remember waking up with severe hallucinations and loss of time... And 2 weeks... I was stented on July 8th released from the hospital today.. 1 month and 2 days later.. I feel awful have an over abundance if saliva that im constantly spitting or vomiting... Im scared in pain and hurts to drink or eat but I have to, to prevent dehydration... Again this doesnt happen often nor does it usually be found 3 months later... If anyone has had a stent, support or help please share with me... Im scared to death and dont get much support by family... Im told " you chose this surgery"

July 17th was going to be the day I started a new life
kjing9419 replied to awaters's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh my not the same but the illness and esophagus I can relate!! Im so sorry , and prayers are with you... I didnt sign up for this either .. I just came home on sunday and still have 2-3 weeks left on the esophagus... They say when the stent is removed it will be the best decision i made for my self.... Right now Im not so sure I did the right or wrong thing... My prayers and thoughts are with you!! You are not alone!! -
Every day I fear the what ifs if it doesnt work, full of anxiety and fear and the stent pain is horrid... Is there anyone out there that has had this and can help me with some positive experience with this??? Please?
-
Thank you so much, it means alot!
-
Maybe I should rephrase.. Its a small hole in my esophagus, they call it a leak but I thought a leak was staple leaks
-
I really hope I stay leak free... My surgeons team member put the stent in and told me even through all if this, WLS was the right decision... I dont see that now but I hope to
-
How dangerous? A drain didnt work because ive had it unnoticed for almost 3 months and it already caused a severe lung infection and pneumonia from bacteria and to let it heal on its own would likely cause death
-
Thank you all so much! It is pure hell!!!! Its nice to know that people dont think because I chose this I deserve it or knew it could happen.. I guess you think not me but it is and I wonder am I forever at risk of another leak?
-
Same thing happening to me... I exhaust myself planning it
-

Today it was 96• I ran to the store they have 1 lb container of fresh cubed watermelon they were so refreshing to snack on throughout the day.. Very hydrating!

I miss my vodka!
kjing9419 replied to aamandddaaaahunt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive learned in life most often the raw truth with no other intent causes people to feel bashed or offended... I just speak the truth take it as you will, not every one is going to downsize or agree with every one -

1 more thing.... I do not believe at all that your first bit of alcohol consumption should be at a college grad party.... Uncontrolled environment with college kids just wanting a kick ass party for their accomplishments.... People no surgery have died at these types of things from alcohol poisoning... If you should vomit or be sick you might just party through it and is their any one really going to safely help you monitor yourself and reactions??? -

This saddens me, you ask for help or answers and youre getting pretty much the same answers across the board.... Im not knocking your "college lifestyle" perhaps you should have thought the fact of sleeving is a huuuuge "life style" change that we all know about! Youre adamant on the 2 shooters.. But all drs. Are different... I have not heard of one that says alcohol is ok after only 1 month... You put yourself at a plethera of risks by doing so and setting a bad example... I have been dehydrated through the entire post op from April 30th and have been hospitalized a few times....just got out again yesterday... Over the week I said i thought I was finally just thought I was hungry. I informed him I had 2 teaspoons of lentil soup as well as 2 spoons of tuna... He told me as chief of surgery of the hospital... Which is actually 3 hospitals in one now... Not saying my dr knows it all or is above anything however. His point was although 3 weeks out can be frustrating with food I have to meet with the NUT and him for my 3 week post op to make sure youre ready for full liquids then a week for reg. food...you have no idea what your stomach can handle of youre only starting full food around now.. That food I ate to soon could have damages the work that was done or caused leaking... My issues is I get alot of dry heaving and my insides(major surgery and blow to all organs) swell because theyre not fully healed.. Most do better then me im down 39 lbs and not the healthy way... My point is the knowledge behind it is long term studies drinking eating eating certain foods can all cause ALOT of damage....poor choice all I can say is of you wind up back in the OR and that os VERY high risk of happening then you knew what you were getting yourself into... Also drinking can lead to sloppiness if you should fall or even pass out It would truley be a shame to wind up in the or!!!! Noone or nothing to blame but you -

kjing9419 replied to jabbgard's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No theyre called protein to go... They have 3 different types of protein in them.. The dr said theyre ok because the 3 different types actually work together to kill fat... Dehydration I thought as well.. I suppose I should call I dont want to go back in the damned hospital they only let me oit because the potassium crushed my veins... They couldnt find another good one to use... Its looking the same way now
