Pregnancy 3 years Post OP and gaining!
Ashleyp24 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello All! I am 3 years Post op as of last week, I lost about 75 lbs, got down to 148 lbs at my lowest and I am now 8 months pregnant. I am only 12 Lbs away from where I started on surgery day- I am depressed every time I look at the scale, not to mention my doctor gives me a hard time about my weight at each visit. I know I have gained more than I should have but I feel so out of control with my hunger- I honestly feel no restriction, I can eat 2X as much as before I was pregnant and I am so scared that after I deliver I will be right back where I started. Does anyone have any tips for after I give birth on how to get back on track? Will my restriction ever return? -
Average weight loss: worth it? Starting to feel discouraged...
Ashleyp24 replied to Lauriep's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My Doctor said the best to expect is 70% and unfortunately that is exactly when my weight loss stopped... I am struggling to get to goal, and have even gained 12 lbs -
I was 38 BMI when I had my sleeve.

My gastric sleeve journey with Quinones and why I am going back to be resleeved!

Oh Wow, I hope all goes well! -
So my surgery was August 14th, 2013. I started at 222 lbs and as of today I am at 150. As happy as I am at my progress I am disappointed in myself that I did not reach my goal within the "Golden Year". Now I realize what my surgeon meant by the golden year. It truly is much much harder to loose after that first year goes by. I haven't lost a pound in over 4 months. My wedding is in 4 months and I still have 30 lbs to go. I am thinking of doing the 5:2 plan and I also ordered some of those organic garcinia pills that everyone is raving over (they supposedly burn fat, with no side effects and are all natural) I am a little worried about taking a diet pill after VSG..has anyone done that or the 5:2 plan and what were your results? Also below is my most recent before and after..I went from a size 18 to a size 10

I read about the 5:2 plan on here. It's a plan where you eat regularly for 5 days then fast for 2. The veterans on here swear by it but only after you've been sleeved for a year

After about the 6 month mark you are pretty much able to eat anything...I was anyways. I had no issues with salad, chicken, red meat, carbs etc.. I think in my case I went wrong with the Protein aspect. I had a Personal Trainer for the first 8 mos after surgery so I know it wasn't due to lack of exercise. I have never been a huge meat eater. I cant roll up a piece of turkey and cheese and eat it like that, it grosses me out. I can do chicken, and I relied a lot on those rotisserie chickens you get at the grocery store. I stopped the Protein shakes also at 3 mos and that probably hurt my weight loss also. Once you can eat again, it is very hard not to. I went through the classes and psychological stuff to prepare for my surgery but let me tell you 30 years of bad habits do not disappear after this surgery or even with counseling- it is a daily struggle to make the right choices and this sleeve is merely a tool. It will only work so much for you. So now after a year I begin at the beginning...Protein shakes..chicken..no carbs..no sugar.

Surgery date- August 15th, 2013 Day of surgery weight- 222 Current weight 148 I am 28lbs away from goal which sucks because I was really hoping to hit goal by my 1 year mark. I've been stalled for 3 months now and it's so frustrating! I am extremely happy with my results either way- this surgery changed my life in do many positive ways it's amazing!

I am down a total of 57lbs, I love my sleeve. I still get to enjoy all my favorite foods just in moderation, and the sleeve helps me to make better food choices.

5 Month Update with Pics
Ashleyp24 replied to Ashleyp24's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can tolerate pretty much everything. I eat bread, pasta, rice-granted rarely and very little but with no issues. Ive had bites of steak with no issues. I eat chicken all the time. I have had no problems with chicken since month 2. the only foods ive found that just do not sit well are peanut butter, and chili. Not really sure why. -

Has anyone had the sleeve while still having a gallbladder and did not need it removed after surgery? My doc has me taking Actigall for 3 months post op, but I heard that even with taking medication to prevent gallstones the probability is still high that I may develop gallstones and possibly need my gallbladder removed just due to the rapid weight loss. I really do not want another surgery!

Healthy Fettuccine Alfredo! Tastes just like real alfredo!
Ashleyp24 posted a topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Healthy Fettuccine Alfredo Author: Pinch of Yum Prep time: 15 mins Cook time: 15 mins Total time: 30 mins Serves: 8 Ingredients 1 lb. uncooked fettuccine noodles (I USE DREAMFIELDS OR LOW CARB/WHOLE WHEAT PASTA) 3 small heads cauliflower 6 cups vegetable broth 6 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon butter 1 teaspoon salt pinch of nutmeg pinch of black pepper 1 tablespoon olive oil ¼ cup heavy cream 1 cup starchy boiling Water from Pasta pot Instructions Chop the cauliflower. Bring the vegetable broth to a boil over medium high heat and add cauliflower. Cook until cauliflower is soft, about 15 minutes. In my experience, the longer you cook it, the smoother the sauce will be. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and saute for 4-5 minutes or until soft and fragrant. As the garlic and cauliflower are cooking, bring a large pot of water to boil and cook the fettuccine according to directions on package, reserving some of the starchy water to add to the sauce later. Transfer cauliflower to a blender with about 2 cups of the broth. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your blender. Add the sauteed garlic, salt, nutmeg, and black pepper and puree until very smooth, about 5 minutes. Once the mixture is moving, stream the olive oil into the blender. Add more broth or water if the mixture is too thick to move through the blender. You want it to turn through the blender easily. When puree is very smooth, transfer back to the butter/garlic skillet. Add the cream and cook over low heat. Add the starchy pasta water (or regular water if you’re not making pasta) and keep warm until ready to serve. Combine noodles and sauce in a large pot or skillet and serve immediately. Notes The sauce will “dry out” a little bit as it cools on the pasta. Adding a little water to the leftovers will help make it creamy again. Serving size is ⅛ of the noodles with about 1 cup of sauce.-

Ice cream already? Holy Moly! STAY AWAY! Im 11 weeks out and have yet to try ice cream, it is full of sugar and could make you very sick this early out. Take a moment to re group and think about why you had this surgery, you will make a bad choice here and there but learn from it, and not just becuase it makes you sick. Do you think eating ice cream will keep you thin? Will it help aid you in your weight loss? if the answer is NO...they stay away!

Question about a friend
Ashleyp24 replied to cowboysfan123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He had his surgery the second week of September? Wow...I was told no alcohol for a year..now every DR is different but I have never heard of a DR. saying you can drink as early as 4 weeks. That seems very dangerous to me. Alcohol could cause ulcers in the stomach, and Acid Reflux. It sounds like your friend has transfer addiction issues. When we have a surgery like this there is a period of time that goes by when you "mourn" food. You miss using food for comfort and sometimes you pick up another bad habbit like drinking, smoking or gambling to feel better since you can no longer use food to do that. It sounds like your friend needs to see a food addiction therapist or psychologist. Alcohol in that amount can be very dangerous. 10 drinks in a night with a tiny stomach=bad news. -
After healing, do you all consume ONLY caffeine-free Crystal Lite?
Ashleyp24 replied to rhw94123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 weeks out and caffeine sits just fine, I even drink about half a cup of coffee twice a week. Crystal Light is fine. I actually dont drink it because i try to stay away from aspertame type sweetners, but I was given crystal light lemonade flavor in the hospital.
