5 Confessions (Join In)
Ashleyp24 replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. I confess I dream about bacon cheese burgers 2. I confess I ate 4 pop chips last night 3. I confess I drink coffee twice a week, and no sugar added juice 4. I confess I still look good, and men find me sexy even 60lbs away from goal 5.Lastly I confess that I never thought in a million years I would be so full off of a 3inch subway turkey sandwich with the bottom piece of bread removed! WOOhoo -
this may start a riot.

I totally understand what your going through, My very first post on this site ever was last week and it went sideways real fast! My doctor is super conservative, he said no caffeine or carbs..EVER.. I follow all the rules except those. There is nothing wrong with a cup of coffee once a week or a turkey sandwich on low carb wheat bread. So yes I take what my doctor says seriously but at the same time I use common sense too, whole grains are good for us, we need the fiber! haha so all things in moderation -
How much did you loose in 3 months?
Ashleyp24 replied to tampa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Our Stats are almost identical! I started at 222lbs, I am also 5'1 Im 11 weeks out to the day and Ive lost 39lbs so far, def a slower looser but I am ok with that as long as it continues to go down, plus eventhough we may not see the numbers go down on the scale right away you will feel it in your clothes! -

I did not have this surgery to give up food forever!
Ashleyp24 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Am I the only one who had the sleeve surgery to get off this rollercoaster ride called dieting? Yes it is a permanent lifestyle change, yes I need to watch what I eat BUT is it so bad that I eat a low carb tortilla, or a slice of wheat toast or god forbid a bite of a cookie or a few potato chips at a party to feel normal? I had this surgery to use as a tool to eat less and watch my portions, I did not have this surgery to feel miserable like I can never have tasty food again. Yes it is all about moderation and I stick to the "protein first" guidelines, I drink my shakes, but I need to know I am not alone in thinking this.... If I want a burger down the road, Is it bad to eat one? Well technically probably half a burger with no bun! I am 9 weeks out, and Iv'e lost 39Lbs but I started with a lower BMI. I am happy with my weight loss so far, I just need to know I am not destined for plain chicken and veggies for life! -

I know I am in the first few months still and i have changed my eating habits quite drastically actually.I do keep my calories low..always around 600 per day. I use my fitness pal, count everything I put in my mouth and exersize. The whole point of this post was to see if in the FUTURE i was destined for a life past chicken and veggies, on occasion. This post has gotten crazy out of hand with people mis construing my very first post. Obviously I would never want to sabotoge myself and eat off plan when I am not even at goal, thats silly. -

Thank You so much for this post! This is exactly what I was looking for!!! You are at goal and still maintaining your weight however you do not stress and worry about every single meal or bite. It helps me to know that in the future I can eat what I want in moderation, it helps me to know that this is possible. Thank You!!! -

I am in no way upset that butter gave me his advice, I appreciate everyone's advice. What I am disappointed with is his condescending posts that followed. -

Why did you even comment on this post if your just going to be negative? I'm sorry that I have a realistic view on my eating habits, Isnt this website here so that we can vent and talk to one another? and not in a negative way! -

The cake was an example because you seem to not be understanding what this post is about. No one is looking for sympathy or the "OK" to go eat crap! -

Im sorry but this is not about wanting to continue to eat "Junk Food" I dont want cheetos and cupcakes, pancakes and stuff of that sort. What I am saying is if I want a few pop chips, or instead of a chicken salad switch it up to a chicken burrito with a low carb tortilla. I am not oblivious to the fact that over 50% of WLS patients gain thier weight back after loosing. Its all about moderation... Trust me I love fish, veggies, chicken etc... but on my birthday If i have a tiny slice of cake should I be made to feel that I am not "taking advantage" of my tool? Or that I am not serious about my weight loss- cause trust me, If I am having a part of my anatomy removed and have scars to show for it I sure as hell will not be taking this lightly. -
