    surgery tomorrow

I'm not to the surgery stage yet (still have to qualify with insurance, etc) but after months of reading these boards and seeing before and after pictures where the only thing getting bigger are the smiles, I think you are making a very wise choice! Good luck on your surgery and recovery!
  2. So my portion of procedure costs through my insurance is over $8k. I have been saving for two months already and had a little over 10% saved. Then my car broke down! I had to use my entire "car fund" and my "sleeve fund" to fix it. So totally bummed out right now. I feel like this will never happen for me.
  3. Thanks to everyone for your responses today. It totally sucks that I had to spend my stash, but I'll build it back up quickly. I'm feeling much better now
  4. Oh man! 27k is a lot! There is a doctor here in Houston who has a cost of about $12-13K. I think the center is called TLC. Before September I didn't have insurance that would cover the procedure so I put it on the back burner. $8K is A LOT, but as I was telling Hathery the other day, I know I am very fortunate and I just need to stay positive and keep my eye on the prize so to speak.
  5. Thanks MsSkinniness! That's quite a story!

    Constipation

An enema will get you going in no time without having to take anything. Just use boiled/bottled water than is a few degrees warmer than your body temp. It will also help any stomach pains you may be having.

    $8200! What?!?!

Thanks, Marci. I hope you find a way to get your revision soon!
  11. Just verified my out-of-pocket for the procedure will be ~$8200! This does not include any co-pays for pre-op visits and procedures. The good news is that I do not have to go through a dieting period like some of you have mentioned. I know some of you aren't covered at all, so I'm not completely ungrateful! But I was hoping I would be able to get this accomplished this summer. Now it looks like I'll have to wait a few months to be able to save up. I'm just so ready to start my new life! I want it to happen already!!

    WLS costs?

I have BCBS TRS and ours breaks down like this: Pre-Op $50/ea dr visit $50/ea NUT visit $150 per procedure (endoscopy, stress test, etc) Procedure $5000 Dr copay + 20% of procedure $150/day hospital stay (max $750) Annual deductible of $2500 At 3 days hospital stay, Terry with BCBS calculated my max out-of-pocket to be $8200. For my husband and myself both: $13,900 (And this was after calling around to all the BC Blue distinction Centers of Houston to find the cheapest price.)

    $8200! What?!?!

Oh Hathery! You're brilliant. I should look at it like that!!! The insurance I had prior to 2013 did not cover wls at all and so I really should be happy.
  14. Good luck! Let me know how it goes! Mine and my husbands consult is next Friday, not sure what to expect.
  15. I've searched many things and cannot find a single list of questions Maybe it's because I'm searching on my phone? I've tried: List of questions Questions for surgeon Initial consult questions Pre-op questions Questions and concerns
  16. I found a really awesome blog by someone who had wls a few years back. In addition to a section on puréed foods, she also has a continuing section called 'A Day in My Pouch' in which she posts some amazing recipes and meal ideas: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2013/05/a-day-in-my-pouch.html?m=1 Be careful though, it's addicting!!!
