(First off, please excuse me if this exists already. I tried to search for my answer before posting, but no luck.) So, I'm a little over a year and a half out. I recently attempted the 5 Day Pouch Test and found that I am now intolerant of whey-based Protein powders. I'd like to give the vegan powders a try, but they are so much more pricey. Have any of you tried some that you would recommend? (Also, had any success with 5DPT?) Thanks to all for your response ????????

"Life hacks" to manage loose skin?
SLF1027 replied to byebyedarkpassenger's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Does this actually help tighten your skin or just help to hold you in? I was looking to get one either way but was curious. It doesn't do anything for tightening. But it does wonders for holding it in and preventing rubbing. -

Welcome to this side! Long road ahead, but take it one sip, one bite, one day at a time. You got this! -
Gallbladder removal 5 months post sleeve
SLF1027 replied to sailor girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my gal bladder removed at 6 months post op. I'd had many attacks for the months preceding but they seems to always tie in with bad food choices (like one French fry or a few m&m's one day). The night before surgery the pain got so bad that I made my husband take me to the ER. I thought my pouch had opened up or sow thing. They knew within 3 hours what was up and I had it removed the next day. Glad that's over now!! -

A typical Breakfast for me: 2 boiled eggs and 1/2 a tomato Snack: P3 & medium banana Typical lunch: 2C salad greens w/2T cheese and 2 oz Protein Snack: lunch meat slices or Protein Bar Dinner: 3oz of meat &1/2C dense veg or 1.5C salad greens Snack: usually Jello, 2 Popsicles or a piece of fruit -

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
SLF1027 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved 9/11/13. I lost 135 pounds in the first 10 months and then I gave up until 8 days ago. I fell off track, grazed, did a lot of things I was told to avoid and gained back 11 pounds in the process. I am now back on track, following all the guidelines and exercising again. I was feeling really crappy and totally fat until I came across this gem (before photo). It made me run upstairs and take a pic of myself right now for comparison! I've got 50-60 pounds to go, but in this moment I know it's possible. (5'9", SW 350 CW 226) -
This wasn't addressed to me but I can answer with a resounding YES!!! Try the couch to 5k program. It's all over the Internet and there are lots of apps (I used get running). It has you do walk/run intervals and build your way up. When I started I thought I was gonna DIE running 20 seconds. But just push through. Repeat days or weeks if you need to to feel more comfortable. I did couch to 5k about 15 months ago and just ran my first FULL marathon Sunday. Ran the whole 26.2 miles! I was never a runner--heck in HS I was one of the girls walking and chatting at the back of the pack in PE. If I can do it you can!!' I also started with the c25k program. I took it very slow. I also found that running outside was a much better option for me. I pushed myself further and further each time. I keep looking back on where I was and it hasnt even been a year since I started running. I am signed up for my 1st half marathon in july and have not ever felt this healthy or strong in my entire life. Good luck to you and hopefully you can post one of these pics someday!!! I plan to be doing just that!

Best piece of advice you have! I'm a day away from Gastric Sleeve surgery.
SLF1027 replied to Sara51692's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wish someone would have grabbed me by the shoulders and said: THIS IS STOMACH SURGERY, NOT BRAIN SURGERY! Those chips, popcorn, crackers and Cookies.. You'll be able to eat aaaalll you want after surgery. No problem. (So be aware that "slider foods" are real!) Follow all the rules your doctor gives you. Try your hardest to not deviate even with one bite! I wish you luck and success on your journey -
Congratulations! That's an amazing accomplishment. I'm struggling right now with running. I can only make it like 20 ft at a time. Did you start this way? How did you build up to this if you don't mind me asking?

"Life hacks" to manage loose skin?
SLF1027 replied to byebyedarkpassenger's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I've taken to wearing a WYOB (wear your own bra) girdle thing from Flexees. It's a miracle worker! I tuck it right under my overhang and it stays put all day. It also makes me look a little less lumpy. I have no rash, itch or discoloration under my belly. Hope this helps! -
Killing it! Rocking the S**t out my sleeve!
SLF1027 replied to chanelle102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are rocking it girl! You look amazing. How do you stay motivated to work out so much? I can't seem to get into a groove and I keep skipping workouts :/ -
I don't really have anything new to add as these ladies have given some good advice, but sometimes change is hard. Get yourself a cozy little corner in the kitchen and a small section in the fridge for your foods and let them do their thing. Hopefully soon they'll be impressed with your will power and want to join in your success!

Congrats on your success. You look great!

I'd like to start a regular meet-up on the north side. I live in Spring off 1960 and Cypresswood and work in the Woodlands. Anyone interested? (About me: sleeved 9/11/13 starting 351, now 219... Only 20 pounds away from the BIG FAT ONES!)

I had my sleeve done in September 2013. It's been 8 months since surgery and I have lost 122 pounds. I came from 350, BMI of 52 to 228, BMI 33. I walked into surgery wearing size 28 pants and a 30/32 top and today i noticed my size 18's were a little saggy in butt! I walked 4.5 miles today before I got tired and that in and of itself is a miracle! I'm so glad I made the decision to have this procedure, it has helped me so much. Though I am doing well, I struggle EVERY DAY to make good food choices. I'm (head) hungry all the time for all the wrong foods and it's a constant battle. Some days I lose, but most days I do well. My original goal was to get to the size I was in junior high school, size 18. But now that I'm here, I've readjusted my goal to a "normal" BMI of 24, which means I have 63 pounds to go. I thank all of you for your support as I silently stalk all of your posts. They help me stay on track and stay motivated to be better

Vitamins Make Me Feeling Nausea
SLF1027 replied to Yadiordz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried 9 different vitamins before I found ones which didn't make me sick. I took chewable a from Unjury, Celebrate, Bariatric Advantage and Smarty Pants. Ii called my doc and he moved me to capsules at 1.5 wk post op. I took capsules from Celebrate, Natures Way, Centrum and Kroger. Everything made me sick! Now, finally two months out, I have found 'Bariatric Advantage Multi Formula with Antioxidants'. It's six small capsules a day but they are great! Now more nausea and no more $$ wasted. I would highly recommend trying them. I think I bought them for about $18 on amazon. -
I Want To See Before & After Pics!
SLF1027 replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Surgery was 9/11. It has been a daily struggle to eat properly and stay within my limits. I lost it on Halloween and ate two fun size candies and ended up staring in the mirror asking myself WTH. Since, I've been in track and doing well, but I have daily cravings and temptations to overcome. It's not easy, but it's so worth it!
