  1. Sweettea I'm sorry you are having a hard time with your knee. TKR is no joke. My mom had it done and she really had to push herself in PT. She had a job where she was very active and walked all day and then got hurt at work. She's gained about 50lbs and she is very unhappy about it. She has seen my success and is contemplating getting the sleeve herself. She would be a lower BMI but has high BP, high cholesterol and probable sleep apnea. Best of luck with your knee. Be vigilant with the carbs!

Congratulations you look amazing and I bet you feel that way too ☺️

    Soups

I know this doesn't answer your soup question but I think 41lbs in 10 weeks is fantastic! You should be proud. Also - WHY are you only eating 500 calories a day? Does your NUT want you on a diet that low in calories? That could be why you are losing/gaining.....I would check with your NUT. 500 sounds too low at 10 weeks out to me - but that's just my humble opinion.

    Red/pink urine explained.

Elode I guess I have a good nose then. I've always been able to smell things others haven't, and they aren't always nice smells! Considering I take public transportation some days I wish I could turn my nose off.
  5. I've been staying at a friends house because I'm dog sitting. EVERY WHERE I GO there is food/temptation staring me in the eye. I'm serious. I have never been to a home that has more Snacks, candy bars, chips, ice cream, etc. They are in the great room, they are in the kitchen, they are in the dining room, they are even in the nightstand in the bedroom. Last night I was FULL. I had a reasonable dinner and then later I had a few almonds. REMEMBER I WAS FULL. I knew I wasn't hungry, but I wanted SOMETHING.....so I ate a small granola bar. It was not big. I felt enormous PAIN in my upper back and in my chest after taking the last bite. It was so bad I took off my bra, but that didn't help. I walked around, but the pain wouldn't go away. The only thing that helped was vomiting...gross I know but after I did it the pain lessened. It was a stupid stupid stupid thing to do and I am kicking myself for it. I never want to experience that pain again. It was scary how bad it felt. Temptation is going to be everywhere, I know it's not an excuse...I'll just have to be better and work on this in the future.

    Red/pink urine explained.

The chewable Vitamins I take make my pee look like "highlighter yellow". It's crazy. I know it's the vitamins because I stopped taking them and then started again and sure enough....that same electric yellow highlighter color. It's weird. I wonder if you ate asparagus if your pee would SUPER smell?
  7. Seahawkgirl - I drank 3-4 cups of coffee every day. I gave it up a few months pre-surgery and I could probably have it now, but I like it with full fat cream and sugar, so I'm going to pass. Because it is getting cold here (I live in Boston - no hating!) I wanted to be able to drink something hot....I missed it....so I started drinking decaf tea with a little milk. It satisfies my need to drink something hot, etc. I totally understand why you would want to drink coffee though....I ADORE the smell....but I don't adore the extra calories!

    I wore a dress!

Wow you look great! I too haven't worn a dress since I was about 12 and am looking forward to wearing one again!
  9. Now I definitely know better! The pain was just so intense and so scary I hope I never feel it again. I'm certainly more aware of everything I am eating today...taking care to put the fork down....chew chew chew.....and take my time.
  10. I'm sure you will break through that stall soon

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

rnsamantha thanks for the vote of confidence. I know what I need to do and I NEED TO GET MOVING! I have no excuse. If I miss my goal of under 200 by 1/1 it will be because I am lazy. I haven't been a size 18 since high school and a size 14 in jr. high! Congratulations on your accomplishments they are totally motivating me.

    Ok sorry... but need help...

I had to use Miralax to get things moving and I'm still using a stool softener occasionally and I'm at 7 weeks post op. I am going to Walmart THIS WEEK to get the smooth move tea! Hope you are better soon.
  13. Monday through Friday I have a Protein shake for breakfast. On Sat or Sun I may have scrambled eggs, or a shake. It's convenient, and I know I'm getting my protein in. Sometimes I will have "dinner" for breakfast, so a small turkey burger, etc. I could do more cooking and planning but it's just not my style for breakfast.

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

Hello again - had my surgery on 8/17. Currently 233. I'm wearing size 18 now. I put all the 22's into a plastic bin so I can donate them. I just realized I have so many blouses/tops that I could wear a different one every day for at least a month. The 3X and 4X are being donated. Even though the 22 tops are big, I can still get away with them. I am definitely losing weight in my lower half faster than my upper half. I can hardly wait to be in a non plus size, but I"m sure it's coming. rnsamantha thanks for the kind words. Hope you are continuing to do well on your journey. I am hoping to be under 200 by New Years. 33 pounds...it's going to be tough work, but I'm up for it.

    Smooth Move Tea

I'm going to give it a go (bad pun intended!) Thanks!

    Smooth Move Tea

Does smooth move tea help like a stool softener would? Going #2 has been painful of late and I hate taking stool softener.
  18. I am dog sitting for friends while they are in Disney this week. Packing after having surgery on 8/17 is a chore! The things I can't forget.... CPAP, Vitamins, medicine, shaker bottle, scale (for food), scale (because I weigh in on Monday!), PB2, Protein powder, etc. etc and this is in addition to all the other stuff I have to pack for work this week. These two mooks decided they would like to nap on my stuff as I was packing it. They were no help! Plus I have to pack my bento box, containers, cold pack, and little fork and spoon and my yogurt and tuna etc. This is a bit much!

    Peanut butter powder?

I put a tablespoon in my chocolate protein shake and it was DELISH.
  20. I too am looking forward to buying boots that will go over my calf!
  21. STUPID QUESTION - if you join a "CLOSED" facebook group - does it show up on your facebook page that you are a member?
  22. Hi, I'm bored at work. Can't help it. Don't want to eat so I'm going to post! I will probably go get a nice cup of hot tea, a little milk, NO sugar or sweetener. I LOVE MY JOB, I really do....but around this time I get a little antsy...I'd love to go home, but I can't! It's too early. I'm also in a bit of a rut with exercise. I was doing GREAT pre-op...Post-op not so much. I'm not cleared yet to go back to kickboxing and I find walking a little humdrum. I've been walking A LOT at work, at every break, lunch, pretty much every opportunity I can, but it's 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there...nothing to really get my heart rate up. I AM NOT AN EARLY RISER - I get up early enough already (5:30-5:45).....and sometimes when I get home (I commute about an hour each way - my work is only 21 miles away, but I commute into Boston and take a BUS) I am T I R E D. Anybody else feel like this? I have a TREADMILL for cry eye...I have no excuse. NO EXCUSE!

    Bored at work

Djmohr I'm sorry you are having pain. A three level cervical fusion is tough. I hope you don't need any more surgery either. Kinda - you are right I've got no excuse! I am HEALTHY!!! (No cervical fusions, I can walk with pretty much no pain.....my once in a while foot pain isn't going to get me down). I've got "first world weight loss problems"!!! I will get out of my rut. I am going to fire up the treadmill tomorrow night. Had to pick up my car from the shop tonight and then out for my mom's birthday. I will post my mileage tomorrow night ???? that way I'll be accountable. Thank you both!

    Common Cold Help!

Emily, I haven't gotten sick "yet" but I'm sure it's coming. Try to get in as much Fluid as you can, steer clear of milk/cream etc. and I would call your surgeon's office. Talk to your NUT...let them know what's going on and ask them for a cold medicine recommendation. Sorry you aren't feeling well.
  25. I had surgery on 8/17. Initially I had a rough time with nausea and dry heaving and was readmitted to the hospital for an additional 4 days. Since then things have been going well. I weighed myself this morning and I was 230.2lbs. I am .2lbs away from a 65lb loss and halfway to my weigh loss goal. I lost 39lbs pre-surgery and in 4 weeks I've lost 26lbs. I am so grateful for this surgery and for my wonderful surgical team. The support I have received from my team, my family and friends who know I've had surgery, and from the people here has been amazing. Thanks!
