My surgery was 8/17 and it started thinning a few weeks ago. I notice it in front but I've adjusted how I style my hair. I will take the thinning hair any day over being 295lbs! Plus it will grow back

Protein bars.... How many in a day?
Margie122 replied to Lexuskela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
While it would be best to get your Protein and nutrients in by eating regular food, I would guess 1 Protein Bar a day max? This is just a guess. Is there a reason you can't get your calories in by eating regular food? Could you mix unflavored protein into yogurt or cocoa? Maybe eat some full fat cheese for extra calories? -

Doc says no fruit--EVER
Margie122 replied to Whynotnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT and surgeon did not tell me I could NEVER eat fruit...but the NUT did say to eat protein/veg first, etc. He also recommended limiting and/or staying away from bananas, grapes, pears and watermelon in the weight loss stage. Probably stay away from them in weight loss stage and limit in maintenance phase. I'm not 100% sure on the watermelon...but I think that was it. He said bananas, grapes, pears and watermelon have the highest sugar content and are the most likely for me to overeat. -
Bariatric Advantage Multivitamin Nausea
Margie122 replied to Stephielynn8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can only take the vitamins after a meal. If I try to take them on an empty stomach they come right back up! -
Is / was your nutritionist all that helpful?
Margie122 replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The NUT at my center (which is a center of excellence) has been great. He is young but he knows his stuff. He is available via email and always gets back to me. He has been a a huge support to me. He also runs the monthly support group. I am lucky to have such a great asset. -
214.6 this morning on 10/26. Had a rough week and weekend - I let some carbs sneak back into my life and it was not a good thing! Back on track this week!!! Thanks.

Hi to everyone in this over 65 thread. I am on this for my mom who just turned 66. She has a BMI of 36/37 and high BP, high cholesterol and probable sleep apnea. I have sleep apnea and she snores louder than I do. I had my sleeve on 8/17 and she is just starting her journey. She has Medicare and Federal BCBS. We live near Boston. Is Medicare a pain to get the sleeve approved? She is going to an accredited program at a local hospital. Any advice or wisdom is appreciated! Thanks in advance ... Margie

Sad story today in local paper about 800lb man
Margie122 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I saw a story today about a 30 something year old man who was kicked out of a hospital weight loss program in RI after being there for 4 months. He's "lost 20lbs" and went to Celebrate by ordering a pizza. The article said he was living "in the back of his father's SUV" and they were trying to get him into another hospital or an apartment in Massachusetts. I wanted to see if the article had any more info so I googled it and the NY POST had the exact same article and a picture of this super morbidly obese man in the back of his father's truck. It made me sad on so many levels... The hospital is saying no comment but I'm sure they discharged him for his lack of compliance. The media is not kind to fat people. It's just sad. -

Anyone else feel scared they'll gain it back?
Margie122 replied to Debbieduck4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Avafern.....why did you put your fat clothes in storage? Get rid of them! You are paying good money to store painful reminders of who you were???? I too am scared of regain but I am going to do whatever I can to not make it happen. -
Run. Get out of this relationship now. He does not love you he loves alcohol. You can't change him. You said yourself he is narcissistic and you find him boring. What happens if he really did hurt you? Please get out now. Alcoholics are very good at playing the guilt game and they are fantastic liars. They only care about themselves when they want to drink and use the "woe is me" to get people to stay. Don't fall for it. Cut him loose from your life. No calls, no texts, etc.
