    My how things change

If anyone deserves to rant its you. I can imagine how very disappointing that has to be. I'm sorry you're having to experience it. Its just a bump in your path though. Although its wonderful to have a support person there you will be fine on your own. My husband was with me throughout my surgery and hospital stay. I honestly don't remember him though, except for constantly spooning ice chips in my mouth (God bless him for that). It'll pass quickly and you'll soon be back home and on rhe mend.

    annoyed!

Lick Nuchnuch said, the date submitted to my ins was just a random date. Likley if you have been approved you ill select your date at your visit today. That's how mine was done..
  5. I asked repeatedly for one in the hospital. Finally i was told they only had them in much bigger sizes than i needed. I didn't know I could buy it on my own. I guess at 3 weeks I should just go for compression garments. How do you buy them? Is it like bra size, pant size or something else?
  6. Looking great! Feel better soon!
  7. Wow, what an incredible journey! You are a true inspiration! Thank you for sharing your story and the photo proof of your amazing success!

    Ibuprofen

No, I have just spent the afternoon at the dentist with a terrible toothache. It will be 2 weeks before they can get me in because its a surgical extraction. I phoned the Surgeon and asked. He said nothing but tylenol. No Nsaids-antiinflammatories (sp) and no steriods. I'm in pan and not happy.

Why is this forum even here?

    not enough dots : (
  15. It really bothers me to read so many people having to fight, fake, lie and pretend to get through a psych eval for WLS. This is so unfair! If a person has eaten themselves into a morbidly obese body weight they have psych issues IMO. That means all of us that have done this to our bodies. Lets face it, at some point in our lives we were taught (or taught ourselves) to eat more than our body needs. It was not engrained in us that food is many things in our society but most importantly it is a fuel and it should be used as such. We were intended to enjoy foods which is why we have taste buds and appetites. The reason being to continue the drive to fuel our bodies in order to live, not to gorge ourselves because the taste is pleasant. The last part of that sentence is where we all went wrong IMO. Of course some have deeper issues than others but we all have them. If a drug addict realized they were killing themselves with drugs and sought a known cure would they be refused because they had a psych issue? No they wouldn't. They would get the treatment and FU sessions with a psych. Some would succeed and some would fail but all would be given the chance to get off the drug that was killing them. I have read a lot of people say that they have a BMI or 38, 40 or much higher but they have no co morbidities and are very healthy. I don't believe thats true. I think the excess weight is a ticking time bomb for all of us whether we have a diagnosed obesity related illness or not. When we overeat to the point of stuffing ourselves and adding lb after lb of excess body fat we are causing harm. We will see it now or down the road if the course remains unchanged. If a person is paying medical insurance and that insurance covers WLS they should be given the surgery if they request it. Make a certain amount of counseling sessions part of the deal if they want but do not bar them from a procedure that will give them the chance to have their life back. No offense to anyone intended. Just thinking outloud.
  16. I don't think I have posted in the mans room by accident or purposely but I could be wrong. I will say that I click into interesting sounding titles. I do not read the section its posted in. I actually can't read the font that small so wouldn't if I wanted to. I don't really think I should have to though. This is the only forum I have ever been involved in where we are permitted to read a headline and click into it, read the subject and respond to it and then be " in trouble" for doing it. What gives? Seriously, it should either be opened to all or invisible to those that are not to participate. If that's coming later the rules really should be lifted off of it until its set up JMO.

    Redundancy

Um, that is really off target and not cool at all. Because it is a support forum people are using it to get "wait for it" support! It doesn't matter where or not its been asked. If they knew they wouldn't be asking. Some people do not understand how to navigate forums or do a search. Some people as said above need one on one interaction. Nothing wrong with that. If you have already been there and done that move on, scroll on down to the first obscure never before seen topic (good luck with that one). Speaking of redundant if I'm not mistaken I've seen post extremely similar to this OP many many times so..........

    Enough Already with the Psycho-Babble

Endless80, that's how it should be but according to these forums it isn't that way for many people. They are either denied or have their surgeries delayed and are put through many more hoops. I think you're better off going with the psych. that is through your surgeon's office as Jen35 said because it seems to be a smoother process that way. They are going through a lot of often unneeded extra drama in order to get an approval. My way worked for me. I used a licensed counselor of my own choosing. I didn't take a test. I discussed my life and the occurances in it good and bad. I came away fully understanding when I pulled the fat suit over my body for protection and why. It was an enjoyable experience and I plan to return to talk to her again.

    Smoking

I'm proud of all of you that are doing it! Yay! Trust me, I kmow. I smoked for 45 years (since 10 years old) when I quit. Quitting isn't easy but its the best gift you can give yourself! Every day you go without one is a day to celebrate your victory and health.
  20. You already know you shouldn't cheat so I won't say that. I will say that the last thing you should cheat with is anything high carb like pasta. According to my surgeon the reason for the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver so it will make for a safer surgery. The way to shrink it is with very low carbs. It really isn't optional. Most WLS. candidates have an enlarged liver. The surgeon will need to lift it out of the way during surgery and if its enlarged it could get lacerated. Also, you could wake up in recovery with incisions but no sleeve if its too large or firm to be safe.

    Melt Down!

Although I am by no means where you are I can easily see why you would feel the way you do. People don't mean to hurt or upset you but that doesn't take away from the fact that they have.
