Sleeve: The UNTOLD Story
NoneYa replied to NotTelling2013's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just a funny side note. Speaking of naked patients. A bajillion years ago when I was 19 I had surgery to remove my gallbladder/appendix. It was the open kind and I was terrified and fighting as I was going under. The next thing I knew I opened my eyes and saw bright lights above me. I turned my head to the side and I saw gurneys, a row of them right beside me and each one had a body on it. There was an uncovered naked man laying beside me. I looked to the other side and there was a partially covered elderly lady there. I thought to myself. Well, I was afraid something like this would happen. I didn't make it. This is the morgue. As I pondered how strange it was that I seemed to be at peace knowing I am dead I heard a loud moan. The naked man beside me was trying to wake up. I thought " poor guy, he doesn't know yet." Just about then he screamed, " Nuuuuuuurse!!!!! Nuuuuuurse!!!! My pee-pee hurts! " Poof, there went my warm cozy on my way to the Heavenly Gates moment. I was just in recovery. -
You're correct. I tried to fill it yesterday and after my insurance and the coupon my price was still 260.00! I'll stick with sublingual.

Mine starts on July 2. It consists of 5 protein shakes or protein bars throughout the day. In the evening 5 oz lean meat and 2 cups green veg. It lasts 2 weeks. Post-op is 3 weeks of clear liquid. No sf jello as its too thick. If it cannot easily flow through a strainer it's out.

Lol. Sorry, I'm not laughing at the issue but I will chuckle the rest of the day over your last sentence.

That bites! It has to be noticeable. What is wrong with people!

So glad to hear you're back home safe and sound.

July 1 sleevers- are we getting ready?
NoneYa replied to ewhitt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that sounds great! I haven't even opened the recipe book or user manual yet. I just washed the parts and forgot it was for anything other than puréed foods. -
My surgery date is July 16 in Plano TX. My pre-op diet starts July 2 and consists of 5 protien shakes or bars per day and 1 healthy dinner of 5-6 oz lean meat and a healthy veg. Post-op is 3 weeks of clear liquids. Hopefully that won't be so bad and I won't feel starved.

You're positively inspiring! Thank you for sharing. -
I just got an RX for the nasal spray yesterday. I haven't filled it yet so I don't know the cost. It came with a few coupons that reduce your copay to 25.00 for it.

I just got my surgery date and I formation packet yesterday. Carbonated beverages was listed under the "will stretch your sleeve" category along with eating past the point of being full.

My dr said nothing larger than the eraser on a pencil. -
I see what you're saying but we are living here and now and in the US ( at least I'm in the US, not sure about anyone else). I don't know about future generations but I have 7 kids living in his one. As long as I'm in control they will need to think before they speak and consider he feelings of others. It's quite easy really. Just don't discuss others personal characteristics or behaviors. That goes for weight, height, intelligence, glasses, sexual orientation........ Anything. Words can be a weapon and one that causes pain forever. Kids aren't born knowing and have to be taught. We see what happens when they aren't. There is a new story in the media very week about the tragic results of hurtful words.
-
I don't agree with this at all. You are teaching children that its ok and not hurtful because you're ok with it. You only need to read the other responses in this thread to see that many others do not feel the same way. Teach children the definition of words and give them the proper way to use them. At the same time you need to teach children that words can be powerful and if used in a certain way can be hurtful. My children have never been permitted to make personal remarks about each other or about anyone else unless they are complimentary ( you look very nice today). Personal attacks are not funny on any level. Fat or thin, short or tall we're all human and words can be life altering. The best way I have found to teach that is when they have done it is to ask them to write a paragraph telling me how hearing that might make them feel. It makes them think and gets the point across. After all, you can't hurt my feelings by calling me short but I know a few people that could and have been very hurt by height remarks.

Lol. My friend once bought 10 lbs or so of that in bulk from a grocery store that was closing. Her husband has a terrible sweet tooth. He had to make a 10 hr drive so he put 3 lbs or so in his car to snack on along the way. Several hours into his trip and about a lb of candy later he found out what it'll do to you. Unfortunately he was just entering a long tunnel. There was no way out of that car for miles, nowhere to stop or pull over. Poor guy but lesson learned lol.

TOTAL DISBELIEF
NoneYa replied to NeverBeTheSameAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so happy for you! What an amazing feeling that must be! -
I just had mine today. There really isn't much to it like others said. I actually had a colonoscopy right directly after it so I did a double whammy. That was my choice just because it was due to be done. I was not able to drive and was told isn't permitted by law anyway. You'll be fine.

How much do you use in a 12oz water bottle?

Wow! I had 1 NUT consult, 1 psyc eval with a therapist, a sleep study (req by the anes. Dr, not the ins. Submit on Thursday, approved on Tuesday. I will see the surgeon this week and get the date set then.

I always drank 12 oz cans-10-12 a day. Through reading this forum i learned that it might be a requirement to give it up with my surgeon. A month before my 1st appt with the surgeon I decided to quit. The way I did it was to limit myself to 1 first thing in the am and 1 in the evening. I did that a few days then I had 1/2 can each time. Then I changed the evening soda for Kool-Aid made with stevia. After a few days to acquire the taste for Kool-Aid I dropped the am soda and traded it for the Kool-Aid. I did fine this way. I had no headache and have no cravings for it. I didn't mean to hijack the thread. I just wanted to throw that out there for anyone coming in later and facing it. It was a serious worry for me and I was very happy to have found an easy way to achieve it. I quit smoking at the same time doing it the same way, alternating E-cigs for the real thing and weaning myself off.
