I am getting sleeved tomorrow. I'm getting antsy now and going through the "I wonder if i had" and the " did I try everything" stage. The one thing that has been a big question for me is the constant talk about swallowing difficulty immediately after surgery. Pleae explain that. Is it because your throat is sore, throat muscles weak. Won't go down? What is it that makes it so difficult for you and how long does it last? I am not just worried about dehydration but also can't imagine how to swallow my meds if a small sip of water won't go down. I already choke on them fairly often.

Alright!!!!!!!! -
Thank you. I've been NPO for 12-24 hrs a few times preparing for surgery and i know ow very dry you can get.

Don't let it get the better of you. I made the mistake of several " one last time" meals and paid for it via gaining 8 more lbs in 2 months : ( 8 more to worry about is not a good thing.

I bought a case of asst g2 yesterday. Thanks for the suggestion of mixing it.

Thank you all for you responses. I was mostly afraid pills would stick in my throat and gag me. If they can go past that point i will survive. I was told my surgeon does a leak test in the OR and that we can have ice chips right away when we wake up. My meds for the Meniers is a small pill. Its maxcide, a BP-Diuretic med. weight loss won't help Meniers and skipping my pills isn't an option.

What about my bp meds and my reflux capsule? They told me to bring them so I wouln't have to buy from their pharmacy. One is for my Meniere's disease and if I miss it i will cycle into a severe vertigo/vomiting pattern that will take days of taking meds on time to correct. Geez!

My surgery isn't until tomorrow so I can't relate yet. I dd find and buy Gas-X strips though. They are in Walmart pharmacy (mint) and at the Dollar General ( cinnamon). They blended in with other gas products and I looked right at them for a few minutes before I spotted them. Maybe look again or ask a sales person because any pharmacy hould hae them.

Thats great! Lucky you! I can't think beyond refried beans and cheese. I hope you come up with something that works. -
My unflavored protein powder is Unjury. I don't know about adding collogen. My body already produces too much due to my auoimmune disease.

How fast do you drink your protein shakes?
NoneYa replied to artymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That doesn't make the shake too thick or Vitamin tasting? I've wondered about that. -

The Almond Breeze unsweetened almond milk has only 40. Cals in a cup -
Maybe the apple wasn't chewed well enough.

Not doing the liquid diet
NoneYa replied to Ashlee K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kinda resent the theory thst the diet is based on BMI. One of the girls I mentioned earlier had 50lb more to lose than i do. I know, life isn't fair. -
Protein shakes It's not that I hate protein shakes
NoneYa posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Although I do hate them. They are sickening sweet to me. I muddle through them anyway because i have to. My problem with them is that since I have started drinking them I am STARVING all the time. I was never a breakfast person. I usually never ate before 5-6 pm (too much obviously). I was ok with that. I was rarely hungry before dinner time. Now I wake up starving. After I drink my shake I'm actually more hungry. Its a hunger that makes me feel nauseated. I hold off as long as I can and eat a protein bar. It helps a little for a little while. That continues all day until I can eat my lean/ green meal. After that I'm ok until I wake up the next day. I haven't read of anyone else going through this. Am I alone? Please tell me that after surgery this will not occur. -

Not doing the liquid diet

I know of 2 people other than myself that recently had the sleeve. All of us used a different Dr and all were a COE. None had the same pre-op or post op instructions or diet. One had no pre-op diet, one had 1 week liquids and I have 2 weeks shakes and 1 lean/green meal. The other 2 have done very well. One took her kids to an amusement park and walked all day at 5 days post-op. I really think its jut ll in how they interpret the evidence and is probably influenced by the Dr that trained them. -
