Here you are on day one of your journey and you have no doubt already inspired many with this heartfelt post. You have inspired me and I'm post surgery. You put into words many of the thoughts and feelings I had that brought me to this place. See you at the finish line.

Sleeved 7/19 need some advice..
NoneYa replied to mandykee 23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 16th. Today after sipping warm chicken broth i had the strangest sensation. On the left side, below the large incision where the stomach was pulled through i felt a rolling movement. It actually felt like the movement of a very active fetus! It shocked me. I realized of course that it was a large gas bubble rolling around but it was so weird! Kind of creepy feeling really. Maybe this is something other people have felt before but i haven't. It went on a few hours the dissipated. This evening i was sipping warm broth again and the same thing happened. This time i popped a Gas-X strip on my tongue and it was gone in 2 minutes. I even had a huge burp and i didn't even know i needed to. I swear by those Gas-X strips now! -

So glad it has passed! -
Whoa there, huffy much? There really is no need to react to the help you've been offered this way. Sorry but it sounds like you will never ask questions here again because it takes too long to get the answer you want to hear. I was sleeved on Tuesday the 16th. I am where you are on this path. I am on thin liquids ( they must easily go through a wire strainer). That will last for 3 weeks then on to 3 weeks of mushies. The difference is that I am not hungry, not even tempted. The remaining stomach is small and being made even smaller by swelling. I do not doubt that you want to eat but I have no doubt its head hunger. If you are fighting a war with that this early in the game you have quite a time coming up if you don't get control of it now. Do yourself a favor and find something you can enjoy that is on the plan for your stage. Full is full right? It shouldn't matter if you're full of wontons or full of cream Soup from a satisfaction point of view. The warmth of the soup will go a long way toward making you feel more satisfied. It very well could matter what you're full of from a physical point of view though. If not your Dr would have given you different instructions.

And that's exactly what you'll do. You show them all!

Has anyone had a conversion from sleeve to gastric by pass ?
NoneYa replied to sprinkles13's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My surgeon is among the most experienced in the country and is highly regarded in this field. I have particular preexisting conditions and concerns. Severe reflux and nausea are among them. Before i had my surgery i asked my dr what would be done if i were to prove to be a bad candidate, have even more reflux or nausea. I didn't want to live that way. He told me that we would do the GBypass if that were the case. Sleeve to bypass is not unheard of or even rare.it is done for many different reasons. Of course a second opinion is always a good idea but if you know that you have a highly qualified and experienced surgeon I would trust him to help me. -
That's great! I was hoping it wouldn't take that long. A month is a long time to feel the burning, pinching pain. At least there is an end to it in sight.

I'm kinda happy to share surgiversary dates with him. I've always been a fan.

I was sleeved on the 16th too. I am getting through it with the use of a heating pad on medium setting. Makes a world of difference for me.

I've used them. They remove water from the tissues and do cause a loss of a few inches for a few hours. They are very expensive for a day though, about 100.00 or the belly wraps. I had a house full of ladies here about a year ago. We all tried it ( i did the face wrap as well). When they came off and we measured there was a difference right away. By morning the effect was gone and we began calling them rips instead of wraps. Thy went into the "never again" pile in my house.

If you were asking me I don't know. He didn't do it on me, I have 6 incisions. I had an incision through the belly button many years ago with my tubal ligation. That single incision hurt more than the 12 inch long incision i had a week later to remove my gallbladder/ appendix.

Too "small" for surgery?
NoneYa replied to bettyboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was under 40 on surgery day. I was told by the ultrasound tech and several nurses I didn't seem large enough to go, through the surgery. I knew they were wrong. I have lived in my own blubbery world all of my life. The undertones of the comment is "you could do this on your own" but I know I can't. I could lose a few but I can not keep it off. They were welcome to their opinion but it held no weight with me. I will take the opinion of the surgeons and the insurance companies over all of them. -
I' m leaving here in 5 minutes to start the 2 hr drive into my new life. See you on the other side!

Did you take a laxative? -
Dr Nicholson (Dallas TX) takes Anthem BCBS. I used them and had no wait. I just needed to follow their guidelines of 1 Psych eval, 1 nutricianist, bloodwork and egd dr ordered that). From first meeting the Dr to having surgery was 2 months. They respond very quickly, usually within a couple of days.

First the side pain might have something to do with my Drs method, i don't know. During surgery he stitches something (i think the sleeve) and then attaches the stitch to a muscle in the far left side. It is a deep burning ache. Its pulled tight enough that there is a 2 inch deep indentation. That stitch is like a tack stitch to hold things in place and its dissolvable. It will take about 2-3 weeks. One day he says I will turn in bed or get up and i will feel it let go. There will be no pain after that. It only really hurts when I walk or try to navigate my body into a comfortable position. Once I'm settled it not bad. The isopure i don't drink straight. I pure 1/4 of a bottle into a,cup then I add equal amount Water and flavoring. For the icy orange flavor i add sf Orange Crush powder. Crystal protein is fruit flavored. You can blend it into drinks or soft stage food.

Wonderful!

I have read several stories about people that lost their excess weight with surgery then credited a product they're peddling. That should be a crime if it isn't imo. They are playing on the pain, desperation, and emotional scarring that many overweight people live with daily. Show me a drastic change in a before and after picture and I'll show you a line forming for that weight loss method. So sad that anyone would do this, especially since they have walked in those shoes and know firsthand how it feels.

Dr Nick Nicholson- Dallas, TX

It must be sleeves because according to his website he has done over 10,000 WL surgeries -
They are at Walmart pharmacy and even at Dollar General. I think most any pharmacy. They blend in with the capsule type on the shelf. You really need to read the fronts of the boxes. I remember looking right at them for 5 minutes before i spotted them. Your best bet is to ask a pharmacy employee. They will know where they are.
