I think you'll do fine. I'm very nervous. I live in the New Orleans area, and I'm gonna miss eating all the delicious foods but I have to make this sacrifice so I can live longer and healthier. Pray on it.

    African American Sleevers

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm 35 250 lbs, PCOS, Fibromyalgia, Sciatica, Insulin resistant, and now my blood pressure is elevating. I'm getting the sleeve because I would love to have a child, not become a diabetic and hypertensive, and live a healthy and happier life. 10 years ago I wouldn't have thought I would be like this, but I know next year I don't want to be where I am today or worse with my health. Here's a story: 9 yrs ago I was having a breast reduction and all my friends/family told me I didn't need it, but my insurance approved it and I had the surgery. 2 months prior to my surgery I found a lump and all the test said it was cysts. My doctor said he'll remove them during surgery. At my first, post op visit, I was told the cysts was a fist sized tumor; I thank God everyday that is was benign. If it wasn't for me doing something that I was best for me, I may have never found that tumor. With that being said, you have to think about what's best for you. VSG may seem a like BIG life change, but to me it's a BIG & BETTER change.

    Anesthesia for the 1st Time

My first time being under anesthesia, I could remember them placing a mask on my face and counting backward. In January, k had my appendix removed and they gave me some medicine before I went into the OR, and I just remember getting on the table and waking up in my room. I felt like someone woke me up in the middle of the night. Difference between the first and the last time bring under anesthesia is my weight. Since I've gained more weight I have become claustrophobic; so I'm so glad I don't remember the mask.
  11. I only need one NUT visit. I already have sleep apnea (no more sleep studies), blood work (done), and Friday is X-ray, EKG, UGI X-ray, NUT, and psych eval; I ready for this life change. I'm 35 and would love to have a child before 40; and this surgery would help with all my health issues.
  12. Was the approval process long? I'm seeing Dr Richardson and having all my test done this Friday. I'm anxious to have it done.

    African American Sleevers

My first Sleep study was negative but I was a lot smaller then. My second study was positive and I now sleep with a CPAP. I had a lot doctors tell me to lose weight, but I have tried everything including pills. Now it seems like I get diagnosed with something new every year: PCOS, fibromyalgia, sciatica, insulin resistance, chronic obstructive sleep apnea; now my blood pressure is elevated. I have my tests on the 12th and I hope my insurance will not give me the run around.
