I am 1 year post op from surgey since june 29th
Eva Linder replied to bethnc1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It´s so inspirational to see success like yours, congrats! -
I enjoy a glass of cold white wine a few times a week, it´s heavenly! I do stick to the low alcohol kind otherwise I get tipsy, and I also just have one glass. Before surgery I could easely drink 2 or 3 glasses.

Well, I,m happy when I can understand myself, which is not often.

Excited but anxious
Eva Linder replied to scarletflame02's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you have it done, it´s great! The fact that it is irreversable is the beaty of it. It forces you to be healthy for the rest of your life. You can still eat whatever you want, just in small quantities. The thing is that your craving for sugar might go away (mine did) and your desire for junk food might also decrease. I believer that it is very important to have the right mindset for this change. I see it as a big opportunity to stay healthy and fit. As a famous model once said. "Nothing taste as good as being skinny feels" -
Pre-op liquid diet: Always Required?
Eva Linder replied to mirabelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn´t do a pre op diet. I think that has to do with what bmi you have, the higher the more important to diet prior to surgey. -
It seems like American doctors don´t want you to drink coffee but European doctors sais it´s ok. It´s the same surgery? I´m six weeks post op and I haven´t had any problems at all. They have told me to use lactouse free milk and to stay away from sodas and other sparkling drinks. In Sweden where I live, decaf is not popular at all. Either you have coffe or you don´t, there is no decaf option.

As I said before, there is no reason to ban coffee at all. My surgeions and my nutritionsit said it´s ok with coffee at all times, the only thing was that you should not add sugar to your coffee.

Eva Linder replied to ummsantos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 6 weeks post op. I eat sallads, youghurts, a little meat if it´s moist and juicy, fruits, cottage cheese etc. I can´t eat bread, fried food, spicy food etc. To sum it up. Good stuff goes in the stomach and bad stuff don´t. I do however drink coffee and I also have the occational glass of white wine. Life is good! Btw, I certanly hope your husband will be ok. How is he? What happened? -
To tell people or not to tell people: please answer
Eva Linder replied to freakinfitfoodie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tell everyone who wants to know. The things I find out..... There are so many people that have had WLS and by telling them my story they tell me theirs. I couldn´t care less if someone thinks WLS is cheating or whatever they say. I have inspired a few people and that is good enough for me to know that sharing is valuable. -

The more people you tell the more support you will get. -
Alcohol/Social drinking
Eva Linder replied to tampa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since the surgery may 21 I have not eaten anything bad, snacks, candy, sweets all of it is gone out the window, but wine....hm... that´s another story. I love to zip a glass of cold white wine in the evening. I have turned to light wine with little alcohol. I only have a small glass a few times a week and I enjoy it so much. -
Welcome to join us "loosers"

My craving for sugar is all gone since the sleeve. I feel it will be so easy to keep the weight off due to that fact. Before the sleeve I always started my day with something sweet for breakfast, today I can´t do that. So for me, having the tool to avoid sugar will do half the job. Anyone loose their sweet toth?

Great news! I have also heard that dehydration due to coffee is a myth. I drink lots of coffee and I feel great so I will just keep on doing what I´m already doing.
-
I ofcourse mean using patches not pads, my bad
-
If people believe that you "cheat" if you have wls instead of doing it all on your own without outside help, ask them if they think an alcoholic getting sober without outside help is cheating? I get frustrated when some think that a person loosing weight without any tools are better than others. It´s like if I stop smoking using pads it´s not worth as much as if I stopped smoking cold turkey?

Wow, congrats!

Dizzy after two weeks
Eva Linder replied to mariadt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are right on track. Two weeks post op you do have days with no energy. It will get better. You need to remember that your body is in chock. The only thing you can do is to keep doing what you´re supposed to do and relax all you can. -
Congratulations! I am 5 weeks post op and I too feel great. I didn´t know that you could eat more if you drink and eat at the same time. It does make sence though, I seem to be able to eat more if I drink. I will keep that in mind for future meals. Thanks for sharing.

On Week 3 Post Op. Need some help!
Eva Linder replied to hfdwife0608's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My advice is, stay away from white bread, pizza crusts etc. Youghurt, proteinshakes, soups, proteinbars. Stay away from carbs. You can eat more after a couple of weeks, but 3 weeks post op you should be careful. Good Luck -
Well, in that case I guess it would be ok with regular coffee as long as you compensate it with more fluids?
-
I would put my trust in the surgeons and his staff. The more experienced they are, the safer you are.
