    Wanting to cry

Before I was sleeved I wanted to prepare my husband for the hormones that were about to be unleashed. He never noticed a difference in me. Apparently, my lovely thyroid had been practicing for the past 10 years to the outside world (I can cry watching a sappy commercial!). I personally noticed a more pronounced weepiness in the month or so after the surgery. Once the night sweats (from initial rapid weight loss) resolved, so did the crying. I feel so much better now three months out! I feel more confident doing presentations at work and less foggy and indecisive. I really think the hormones must have been reined in as a side benefit of this surgery. Tomorrow I will have my first post-surgery labs drawn an am very interested in what the hormone levels will be (cholesterol, too). Don't worry, as other posters have already said, this is quite normal and transient. Hang in there!

    ITCHY

Benadryl (children's liquid), warm bath with Aveeno oatmeal powder, calamine lotion & aloe Vera (after the bath). That's what my doctor recommended for me and it made me feel so much better. I had an allergic reaction to something in my chewable Vitamin that caused the severe itching and all-over rash that accompanied it. I still do the Aveeno bath at least once a week and it is heavenly! I would check with your doctor if your symptoms get bad and see what he recommends. Best of luck and I feel for you!

    Me today

May I add that you have fabulous eyebrows, Laura~.
  5. Don't worry, Ashlee. We have all experienced embarrassing moments with our bowels at one time or another (happened to me in a hotel in India when I was your age! No boyfriend to help me, but very embarrassing to explain to housekeeping...) Anyway, God bless Hathery for finding humor in her harrowing tale of the unexpected. Pictures of last 2 dinners

What a cute teeny taco! I use tiny ramekins the size of my cat's food bowls for teeny lentil soup & chili (doctored with said sliced avocado, shredded cheddar and a teeny dollop of plain FF Greek yogurt). So how does your tummy do with the teeny tortilla? I still can't keep any kind of bread down. Not even a teeny bite.

Hey OK neighbor! It's like they say, sort of like a new baby's tummy. I still like my milk, yogurt and vitamin water zero as reliable go-to intake. I also puréed Wendy's chili and added plain Greek yogurt, a teaspoon of chopped avocado and a pinch of shredded cheddar in the soft/mushy stage. Still love it and a small order lasts for a couple of days.

Are you in Houston, too, Francieb?

Oh, almost forgot. It would be fun to get together sometime. I want to attend my program's support group sessions the first Wednesday of every month but always seem to have plans or out of town those days. I don't personally know anyone who has had the sleeve so it would be great to have a Houston buddy to get together with occasionally.

Believe me, you will feel better with every day. You will be a new woman before you know it! The fatigue will take some time if you are like me, but it is different than the pre surgery exhaustion I had from so much excess weight. I am a lot more energetic some days, but usually I drag if I don't get enough either protein, carbs or water. I don't get hungry at all, so really have to push myself to take breaks at work and eat or drink. It's easier for me on weekends. I can't believe someone offered me a piece of Cadbury's chocolate today and I wasn't even slightly tempted! So happy about that- you don't even know what a chocoholic I was before! Keep me updated and feel free to ask or vent about anything

    OMG! Ovarian Cyst too?

I almost had a clearing out of my endometriosis concurrently with my sleeve, only my gynecologist did not have privileges at the hospital where I was being sleeved. That would definitely have caused a longer recovery period but would have been worth avoiding two rounds of anesthesia. I am just crossing my fingers now that I stay pain free from the endo for a while or maybe even get some relief from it along with other pain that has lessened since being sleeved. In your position I would do both. Just an opinion from the peanut gallery! Best of luck with your decision~

    Some Low Carb Substitution Ideas

I'm going to try some of these recipes this weekend - thanks!
  16. I hadn't heard any statistics before my surgery, but I had heard that some surgeons routinely removed the gall bladder at the same time as the sleeve surgery. I asked my surgeon and he said that was 'old school' and he would stay away from my gall bladder. I guess in Texas it's true when they say, "if it ain't broke - don't fix it!"
  17. I agree that counseling is the way to go. I wish you all the best and hope you and your hubby can work this out. Deep down, he probably does want you to be healthier and may need a little perspective from an objective third party in how to communicate that to you. You are probably a great cook and he is feeling maybe a kind of "food funeral by proxy" if you know what I mean.

    Post-Op Wet Dreams...

I made something the other night that really hit the spot: watermelon, ice and half a lime squeezed into a blender and buzzed. It was sooo refreshing and not carbonated. I made sure there were no seeds in the watermelon chunks first. You might like it

    Help after surgery

My husband stayed home with me the fist day home since my surgeon wanted someone with me the first 24 hrs. Like the previous poster, I could probably have physically managed on my own, but I was a bit wimpy and really appreciated his presence!
