1 month out and I feel like I have no sleeve
richj242 replied to richj242's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today - 1 day later - I have no real hunger at all - very strange - but my intention is to listen closely to my body and only eat when it really needs it. I WILL go back to Proteins first - I think that does make me stay fuller longer. -

well - it is different day to day. Some days I can hardly eat. But today, I wanted to stuff my face with everything in front of me. And I did (about half). Seems like I have very little restriction today. Maybe my brain is playing old scripts, but my stomach seems to be going along. I feel like I want to go have an upper GI done just to make sure I didn't have placebo surgery. Am I crazy? -
POSTED this on band2sleeve.com today 1 week surgiversary! Just been doing that resting & recovering thing. Some walking, I need to do more. Instead I spend most of my time working on computers or cell phones. The tech junkie was not removed apparently. Today for the first time the scale read something lower than my day of surgery weight. Or what the forums call SW (Surgery Weight). I'm down like 2 pounds. 2 freaking pounds after only liquids for a week! ok ok ok - no panic - just a process. So in the things I SHOULD be doing column is walking frequently. No checkmark there. and in the things I SHOULD NOT be doing column is weighing myself every day. Big ole checkmark there. So for the "should" points, I'm not doing that great. But hey, I'm not a big "should" person. I guess I NEED to reframe that a bit so I don't start lumping my positive uplifting behaviors into a guilt basket. ok, enough pop psych for today. Back to raw fact reporting. Most pain is gone at this point. This is good, because the pain medicine is also gone at this point. The remaining discomfort is a huge continuous headache. I'm going to blame a combination of surgery effects/dehydration/low blood sugar for that. So it is WWW for me - Water, Walking, and .. and... Without computers? I really wanted to get a cool 3W acronym going - a bit of a stretch. Any suggestions?

Telephones & Tijuana - Whats the best way to communicate?
richj242 posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Traveling to TJ for my surgery this weekend. I am wondering what the best cell phone options are. Should my traveling companion and I just use our US cell phones (T-Mobile) or will we get horrible roaming charges? Mostly we will be communicating with each other and the staff in TJ. Are there pay as you go phones (TRAC phones or similar) that would be a good option? Any thoughts or experiences? -
Surgery is scheduled for June 2. In one week I will be having my revision surgery. Hopefully all in one surgery they will remove my Adjustable Gastric Band (AGB) and do the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG). AGB to VSG in TJ MX.

Surgery Booked with Dr. Garcia for June 3
richj242 replied to richj242's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It is Florence Hospital. I just had my band unfilled - bye bye band fills! And the surgeon who has been doing my adjustments raved about the sleeve - said I would love it so much better than the band. Made me feel even better about this decision. -

I am soon to do a band to sleeve revision with Dr. Garcia. I also am ready to change my local PCP - so I was looking for Denver folks who have a good PCP that has supported you through the process and helped with aftercare. Any leads? -

Can a dilated pouch be trimed/cutback/resized during revision surgery?
richj242 replied to richj242's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Overfilling the band is a big culprit for this as it causes the pouch to stay full longer and stretch. My doc says the esophagus should get better now that I've had liquid taken out of the band. -

Can a dilated pouch be trimed/cutback/resized during revision surgery?
richj242 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It seems to me I've heard of people having their pouch operated on. I'm wondering if with my dilated pouch, could a surgeon cut away part of the pouch when they are in there taking out the band and doing the sleeve? Or am I dreaming? Thanks
