What is/was your pre-op diet? Please share.
dimples4u replied to BloomingFaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone else experience stomach cramps while on liquid diet? I have been on it for a week now and my stomach constantly hurting after eating and drinking. Protein shakes makes my stomach hurt the most. -
2 days on pre op diet and I feel so weak. Felt like I was going to pass out at the gym. Doctor did not give me a diet but, he did tell me to only drink protein shakes. My issues is when I drink those shakes with no food in my system they make my stomach hurt. I know its worth it in the end but, honestly its hard to see the light at the end of tunnel when I feel this bad...

I have a trainer and we go various things including parts of group training twice a week. For cardio I do intervals on recumbent bike for 45 mins four days a week. Usually burn 285 to 300 calories from the bike alone.

I have gotten use to going to the gym and I feel lime crap when I don't. I have not gone in 2 days and I don't feel bad about it. This pre op diet making me sick and weak. Today I slept all day long and woke up off and on to eat broth, jello, and protein shake.

Ok.. my post this morning was positive... tonight I am struggling. Day 3 has been ok until I went bowling with fam... I am so hungry.. I am sitting here quiet at this table watching my family eat a pizza. Its crazy because I just realized I have no idea the topic of conversation because I am struggling with not wanting to eat a slice of this pizza. I have walked away from this table to see a bowl of fries on another table.. need to get out of here !!!!

I am having surgery in 17 days and starting my pre-op liquid/protein diet. I had a protein shake for breakfast and lunch 60 grams total. I am lactose intolerant so I ensured my shakes are lactose free. My issue is my stomach is hurting like crazy. I have been on high protein diet for few months now and this seems to only happen when I have protein only for the day. My doctor wants me on nothing else but protein and I am so sick ya'll...I will bring up with withy doctor on thurs when I see him. My question is... was anyone else allowed to eat yogurt..jello..broth etc.

I have received a letter from BCBS and the doctor office saying I have been approved for surgery. I have left several messages for the nurse to give me an update but, she will not return my calls. She is the surgeons right hand man and every time I call the staff fwd me to her voicemail. Not sure what else to do... any suggestions?

Yes the waiting game has me so anxious. I just want to get this over with while I have the nerve.

Does anyone have BCBS blue advantage? I have to attend 8 months of dietary classes.
dimples4u replied to Roiemorris's topic in Insurance & Financing
Medical groups are a trip. Some are really good and some are really bad. I would get online and search for providers that way you can find all the different medical groups. Find the bariatricts surgeon for that group and call them. They should either transfer you to the office manager or the person who handles submitting pre auths to insurances. They can tell u the requirements. If your friend has the exact same insurance you have, ask them the medical group they belong too. With ****H.M.O you can switch groups but, it will take effect the 1st day of following month. -

I have bcbs ppo and they just have to see that you are trying. They need release from nutritionist and pscy eval. If you need those classes, ask whom ever is running the program or your doctor for the procedure codes. Then call bcbs and ask if those specific codes are covered. My doctor gave me some codes so I could check. The nutrition classes were covered as long as there was a qualifying diagnosis such as diabetes and obesity. For the 1on 1 visits with the nutritionists, bcbs only covers 4. I am here in California and I am not sure if they are the same for all their different plans. So as mentioned earlier get those procedure codes if you can and then call bcbs. -

So... I am 1.5 months away from being sleeved and the doctor wants me to drink 3 or 4 pre mixed Protein shakes (Premier Protein) a day so I can shed 20 lbs before surgery. 4 Protein Shakes equals 640 calories. I workout 4 days per week and planned on adding an additional day of cardio. I had a body composition done and I know I need to eat around 1900 calories to burn fat. I have lost 27 lbs in a little less than 2 months on my own. So I can safely say that I know my body. Today I've consumed 3 Protein shake and 2 liters of Water. I went to the gym and worked with my trainer. I was so weak I couldn't complete my session. I ended up coming home and making a turkey burger and steamed veggies. I feel a little better but I am still struggling. I know I have to go on liquid diet 2 weeks or so before surgery. I am fine with that and planned on stopping my workouts but, I don't want to stop 1.5 months away from surgery. Anyone else run into same problem?
-
The crazy thing is he wants me to continue to work with my trainer. It sucks because I am starting to feel like I cannot do both.

Premier Protein is the only brand I like as well. The chocolate actually taste like chocolate and the same for vanilla. I love my shakes in a glass with tons of ice. In my opinion its better when ice cold.
