MaybeBanding26 replied to Emma Grace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
interesting. my screenname says 26 because thats when i started researching this. Im 30 now. honestly, i havent observed what you have observed. i have seen far more success stories than failures over the past four years, and you know what i STILL wouldnt say? that the band works for most people. because i dont know that. -

how can you possibly know that it doesnt work for "most" people?? i mean, if youre saying its not working for you, then fine. if youre saying it hasnt worked for people you know or have seen, okay. but im just wondering what qualifies you to say that it doesnt work for most people. -

Please share your new focus after banding
MaybeBanding26 replied to mom2amwt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is definitely something I've been thinking about a well. this liquid diet has definitely put a spotlight on the food focus in my life. I personally plan to focus on all the things I've been too fat to do before. Im gonna go out more, hit some amusement parks this summer, travel by p plane....basically the stuff I've wanted to do in the event that I began to take up less space. Maybe take some dance classes too! of course there will be shopping, too! In fact, my first mini goal is to no longer be too fat for my home scale. I'm 23 lbs away and when I hit it, I'm getting some new boots! -
What is sliming?
MaybeBanding26 replied to MaybeBanding26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh! That sounds disturbing! Is it more of a ' not chewing' thing or an eating too much thing, usually? -
pre-op diet day 2 is
MaybeBanding26 replied to amberakamom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 12 days into my two week liquid diet and it still sucks. I'm not a sweets person, so shakes are fine but im eventually going to need some savory! I've had lots of cheats, mostly turkey bacon or something else that's high Protein and low carb. I had a doctor visit 8 days in and had lost ten pounds. I can't wait to get back to my low carb lifestyle - no shakes allowed! At least not in the beginning. -
Lap band afer gastric bypass
MaybeBanding26 replied to Jen1972's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
really?!?! I've heard of going the other way round-band to bypass, but never bypass to band. -
what am I doing wrong
MaybeBanding26 replied to Emma Grace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there is a possibility that you aren't taking in enough calories and you have gone into starvation mode. Why can't you continue low carving with the band, if that was successful for you? Also, soup may be one of the least useful things for us to eat (according to my nutritionist) because it can up our calorie count but since it slides right through the band, it leaves you hungry very soon after. It's hardly worth it, really. It's like eating and drinking at the same time. Maybe drink less of your calories? -
I Hate My Job!!!!
MaybeBanding26 replied to MaybeBanding26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's just neverending! Because people actually live here, there is always food around! Its a compulsive snacker's nightmare....or dream, I suppose! And then the staff or the clients order take out. And then the staff is constantly baking and bringing things in. just brutal. -
Lap band afer gastric bypass
MaybeBanding26 replied to Jen1972's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe if you get gastric bypass and then stretch your stomach out until it's back to the original size....the pouch, I mean. One could conceivably get a lapband in that instance I would think, but yeah, good luck finding a reputable doctor who would do it. -

A friend of mine makes a fantastic potato soup in her crockpot, and when the ingredients are nice and soft she hits it with the immersion blender and smooths it all out. I can't wait to try it out! -

Oooh, good point! Who ARE you people? Lol I live in philly (USA) and am a therapist (mental health). I'm scheduled for surgery on tuesday, and I'm super nervous! Gathering information eases my anxiety, so I've been compulsively reading this site, making lists and watching youtube videos for the past couple of months! -

MaybeBanding26 replied to Renee1003's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the single incision thing is pretty new, as i understand it....im not sure that all doctors are able to do it. i think i'll have the 5 incisions, but i hadnt heard of the single before a few days ago... so, do they put the port in your belly button, then? -

Total Out of Pocket Expenses so far anyone else want to share???
MaybeBanding26 replied to Amanda1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pretty much everything is covered by my insurance. i am VERY fortunate. ive paid countless $10 and $15 co-pays over the past year. my hospital's bariatric program has a $350 program fee....that covers the nutrionist visits, the classes, the psych consult and one other thing that completely escapes me right now! lol...i'll edit this post when i remember. everything else has been covered. i had a sleep study and i needed a c-pap, i was expecting to have to dole out for that, but NOPE! covered by insurance! even the guy at the medical supply place who fitted me and set me up was surprised that it was completely covered. and this thing is NICE! i looked it up online and its over $1200! -
youve already gotten some good advice. i just want to add that im hearing from lots of bandsters that your tastes can change after surgery. that has made me reluctant to stock up TOO much on shakes and things because liking them now doesnt necessarily guarantee that i'll like them later on. also, check out the favorite Protein shakes thread...there's lots of reviews in there!
