  1. Im a therapist in a residential facility and the problem with being a therapist in a residential facility while you are on a two week liquid diet is that there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS food AROUND!!!! This is killing me! Especially when I know that tonight they have one of my most favorite dinners! And I'm so used to eating what the clients eat. And lets not even START with all the carby/sweety/junky/snacky foods that are just always on hand! I'm going to try to not even go into the kitchen while dinner is still out. If I go in there, I AM coming back to the office with something to eat. Its not even a question! Ack! I hate everything! okay, vent over. anyone else have issues with food at work?
  2. so, my surgeon wants me to self-administer a syringe of lovenox (blood thinner) once a day for the next seven days after surgery. yesterday a lovely visiting nurse came to my home and taught me how to do it. she sat with me while i did and it was remarkably easy and painless! not so today! it definitely hurt....not horribly, but still. im not sure what i did wrong....maybe i didnt pinch the area adequately or something? i dunno...nurse will be back tomorrow. anyone else have this issue?
  3. you are inspirational to me! i started this journey at 454 and 5'10....my bmi was like 65. by the time i got to surgery it was under 60. im just glad to see someone who started out as high as i did doing well with the band. im only a couple days post op, but i have nothing but high hopes for this journey!

    January 2011 Bandsters !!!

i was banded on the same day as you....but they ended up letting me go home that evening. the incisions dont really hurt for me, unless i poke them or soething. its all about the this gassy bloated feeling. it BLOWS. and *TMI ALERT! TMI ALERT! TMI ALERT!* ive realized that its much less painful to pass gas than it is to belch. i dont know why that is. but lets just say, i am opting for the rear exit as much as possible! whats the law of 30s? im definitely not hydrating enough...im trying though. im on clears til at least friday....i may stay on longer. i have no appetite but currently im having difficulty distinguishing pain from hunger. im sad though...i didnt get weighed on surgery day so i dont know how much i lost during the two-week torture! AND my scale's batteries are dead so i cant even see if ive met my first goal of being not too fat for my scale...
  5. It certainly does help thing s along for me! Increase your intake and see if that works. This whole weight loss thing is largely trial and error

No, your mom is definitely right! Framing is everything! Sometimes though, the smells are just overwhelming! I just have to leave the room at times.

    January 2011 Bandsters !!!

Hey all, I'm home! It was a crazy day, but I I'm all banded....i should change my screen name! My pain is mostly achy and the percocets and heating pad help with that. If I can stay still, I'm perfectly okay....trying to change positions is a killer! But a nice, well-enunciated curse word seems to help some. I'll do my sugery day story in the other thread soon.

I'm in admissions! I'm still numb. Lol...it's probably best to dissociate for now!
  13. mine went by really quickly....so, quick in fact, that i was so not ready to get surgery at that six month mark! i was a little glad that there was a hold up with my records for a month or two...i was going to these appointments every month on auto-pilot assuming that something would come along and mess up my plans...i needed time to wrap my mind around it all!

    B12

it actually tastes pretty pleasant. its a fruity flavor...not something you wanna splash over ice and guzzle, but its definitely palatable. i actually like it.
  16. How does it feel and how will I know its happening?
  17. good luck 17ers! wishing you an uneventful procedure and a speedy recovery! *hugs* im on my Clear liquids and getting ready for tomorrow!

    B12

mine said i didnt need it, but it would be fine if i took it anyway. i got a nifty liquid one that has all the goodies, plus Biotin which i like because i dont have to take an extra supplement in order to prevent hair loss! im not sure about the science of it, i just know b-12 gives me energy.

    Question about IsoPure

I get banded on tuesday (1/18) and over the past few weeks ive been on a Quest to find Proteins that i like. So, my question is about Isopure. I *think* there are two different products by that name? can someone help me out with this. it doesnt seem that isopure plus and isopure zero are made by the same company. im really not sure. the thing that confuses me is the fact that the flavors have the exact same names! im having difficulty finding and comparing the nutrtitional information and different sites are having different info. one site says that isopure plus has 33g of carbs for an 8 oz bottle (that is unacceptable to me!) and then another site says there's zero. the one ive tried is isopure zero (found at gnc) and i actually liked it, so i'd like to buy it in bulk and keep it on hand for when i need some assistance meeting my Protein requirements. they are expensive to buy individually (almost 4 bucks per 20oz bottle) so, having a case would be fabulous. anywho...just wondering if anyone is able to shed some light.

    Question about IsoPure

thanks so much for the quick and informative reply! so, have you had the ones that are in the smaller plastic looking bottles? is there a difference in the nutritional information between the two? i will likely order them from amazon.com because i have amazon prime and will get free 2-day shipping no matter how much i buy. i wish there were a way to get a variety pack because i want to try the orange and the mango without having to commit to 12 whole bottles! any thoughts on that?

    Lap band afer gastric bypass

oh, it can most certainly be defeated...i have seen it! ive seen quite a few people who had the bypass re-stretch their pouch til it becomes the same size as their stomach was and gain all their weight back.
