4 weeks post op and have stalled.
Who Dat 70461 replied to TXGALINAR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry, although it sucks, this is just a stall. I went through some weeks with zero loss, only to turn around and have great results the following week. Keep doing what you know to do, i.e. stay active and follow your plan to a tee...the lbs. will drop! By the way, 32 lbs, gone forever, ain't too shabby! Give yourself a little credit! Good luck! -
Incorporating "real" foods
Who Dat 70461 replied to gabby5391's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Big mistake? Hell no! I'm fairly confident it was a tough decision and wasn't made lightly or in haste. As for tolerable foods? Everyone is different, you just have to experiment and find what works for you. I can eat almost everything, but for some weird reason, still have a tough time with canned tuna fish!? I can eat steak, chicken, fresh tuna steaks, roast, crawfish, ribs, etc., etc....but canned tuna just doesn't sit well w/me. No worries, I can live without it! As I'm sure you've heard many times, get your Protein in first and don't save the best bites for last, as you probably won't have room for them! I was sleeved May 8, 2013 and my wife July 8, 2013. While my surgery and recovery were textbook, hers was a bit more challenging. She had two hernias repaired and it took about 3-4 weeks for her to quit complaining...uh-hm, I mean start to feel better! Now, that period of time is a distant memory! I am down 119 lbs. and hit my original goal around 5 months ago. My wife is down 80 lbs. and hit her goal about 3 months ago (She looks fantastic, but she's on a mission to lose more...I told her not to get carried away, I don't want to feel like I'm hugging a sack of hammer handles!). Whatever you do, don't (DO NOT!) let the number on the scale dictate your feeling of success or failure! If you feel better, you are more active and you have a better quality of life, to hell with what the number is on a scale! You're in for one heck of a journey...hang in there, I promise it wasn't a mistake! -
Oh what a feeling!

Don't know how active this room is, but I could use prayer!
Who Dat 70461 replied to mi75's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I pray God gives your surgeon and surgical team the skills to perform your procedure without any complications and I pray you have a speedy, complication-free recovery! Once this phase is over, hang on...you're in for one heck of a journey, with an incredible new you waiting at the finish line! -
1 week pre-op and im getting kinda emotional

Perfectly normal to feel as you do...abnormal would be if you had no concerns about it at all! Trust me, you are in for one heck of a journey and it is so worth it, for the few reasons you mentioned, plus so many more! Good luck and Godspeed for a rapid recovery! -
I'm freaking out!
Who Dat 70461 replied to lifestartsnow4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This anxiety is normal. It is major surgery...if you weren't freaking out, then you should panic! I'm not in the medical field and to be quite honest, I'm fairly naive about the complications associated with a revision. With that being said, I do believe in the power of prayer...I pray God gives your surgeon and surgical team the skills to perform your revision without any complications and I pray you have a speedy, complication-free recovery! -
I wouldn't worry, this is just a stall. I went through some weeks with zero loss, only to turn around and have great results the following week. Keep doing what you know to do, i.e. stay active and eat smart...the lbs. will drop. By the way, 42 lbs. in 53 days is phenomenal! Give yourself a little credit! Good luck!

Have you tried kale chips? Google it, there are plenty of recipes online. They are really easy to make and tend to satisfy the crunch cravings. They also have some really good snack chips at Sams called Veggie Straws...have the texture and taste of Funyuns. Good luck!

Phenomenal transformation! Yep, that big girl with the pretty face is gone...a beautiful lady took her place!

Sex after surgery
Who Dat 70461 replied to Shiner86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
8 weeks?!?! No (thank God!), my wife was sleeved exactly two months after me and we waited about 2 weeks...no trapeze or swings,we just took it easy and all was fine. Now, 13 months out for me and 11 months out for my beautiful bride....well, let's just say we're like newlyweds! Good luck and Godspeed for a quick recovery...you're in for one heck of a journey! -
I started walking two days post op, albeit short distances. After about 2 weeks, I was walking and/or biking for 30-40 minutes a day. Added swimming as soon as the wounds were completely healed (think it was at 6 weeks or so, can't remember). Wasn't cleared for weights until about 16 weeks, however it was moderate...nothing too strenuous. At 20 weeks, I started hitting the weights aggressively and haven't looked back! Good luck on a speedy recovery and get ready, you're in for one heck of an awesome journey!

I was drinking as much as I wanted, around 3-4 days post-op...scared the heck outta me! Have since learned, everyone is different...some can only take in a small amount of fluids (sip, sip, sip), while others are fortunate enough to tolerate much more. I had far more restriction when I got to the mushy stage, i.e. the more dense the food, the less intake. I wouldn't be overly concerned, just go with what feels tolerable for you. Good luck...you're in for one heck of a journey!

I added garlic powder, as well as a few other spices, to broth when I was on Clear liquids...never had any ill effects from it. However, if you're uncomfortable/unsure, call your doctor or nutritionist. Good luck, this stage will be a distant memory before you know it!

I would think it's okay, however you may want to check with your Dr. or nutritionist...just to make sure. I started drinking decaf a few days after surgery, then real coffee again (the leaded stuff, no decaf! ) at about 5-6 weeks. Some folks tolerate it fine and others have issues. Good luck and Godspeed on your journey!

Looking like that doesn't just happen, I'm sure it took a lot of hard work...you have every right to shout it out! Congrats!

3 weeks out and depressed...
Who Dat 70461 replied to TrailriderJulia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give yourself time, I promise it will get easier...just gotta give your new stomach time to adjust, don't rush it. The first 5-6 weeks were the most challenging, however before you know it, this period will be a distant memory! Good luck and hang on...you're in for one heck of a journey! -
I was sleeved May 2013 and my wife exactly 2 months later...I'm 117 lbs. down (at goal...yeah baby! ) and my bride is 80 lbs. less the woman she once was (almost to her goal!). My wife does strictly cardio (walking/swimming), no weight training. I do only weight training, with the exception of weekends, i.e. mow the lawn in the morning, then spend most of the day in the pool, albeit more lounging around than swimming! I copied a standard workout routine from some bodybuilding website and just follow it. Chest on Mondays, arms on Tuesdays, legs on Wednesdays, everything else (shoulders, traps, lats, back, etc.) on Thursdays, chest and arms again on Fridays. My wife is going to start hitting the weights with me tomorrow, in an attempt to jump start her current stall. I think you'll find, as the lbs. come off, exercising (regardless of type) will become so much easier...and addictive too! Good luck on your journey!

I NEED EFFIN COFFEE!
Who Dat 70461 replied to DaddyMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started drinking decaf a few days after surgery, then real coffee again (the leaded stuff, no decaf! ) at about 5-6 weeks. I'm a little over a year out and I now drink about 6-8...sometimes 10 cups a day. Splenda, a little Hershey's cocoa powder and/or sugar-free vanilla Coffee-Mate. I know, I know...that's a lot of coffee and it's really bad for me and my heart will probably explode and it affects global warming and...whatever! I enjoy it and thus far it hasn't had a negative impact, so I'm drinkin' it! Some folks tolerate it fine and others have issues. Good luck and Godspeed on your journey! -
Although I've always thought she was a stunner, after 11 months and 80 lbs., my wife feels as beautiful on the outside, as she is on the inside! There's nothing wrong with wanting to look attractive...confidence is attractive on a lady! Gotta go...I'm heading out the door to take my hottie dancin', gotta show off a pretty gal....."wobble baby, wobble baby, wobble baby, wobble..."!

i just have to say it...

Yep, me too! My wife is post-menopausal and prior to the surgery ole' Ms. Psycho, uh-hm...I mean my bride was always hot! (Something about a poker hand...a hot flush??) Anyway, now she and I are both always cold...guess it's a byproduct of losing the vast majority of our insulation. Oh well, hopefully it'll translate to a lower electric bill this summer!
