I am 6 weeks out and my energy came back just this past week. I feel great. I make sure I eat small portions every 3-4 hours and take my vitamins religiously. I wasn't doing that before his week like I was suppose to (I have a huge aversion to any chewable pill) and I think sticking to both of those has made all the difference. Good luck. It gets better.

Did I really do the right thing?

It took a little longer. I think I had more pain because of it. All of my major pain in the week following surgery was high in my abdomen where my diaphragm is...which is where they repair the hiatal hernia. I was sore all over my abdomen but the bad pain was near my diaphragm. I think it has made it more difficult to get my fluids etc down also. I'm a month out though and doing pretty well pain stopped after about a week and I get fluids down fine now. I never had heartburn before and don't have it now but I do take Prevacid every day. -

Four weeks out here and feeling the same way. Some days are better than others. I think my recovery is taking longer than some because they fixed a hiatal hernia while they were doing my sleeve. I'm trying to be positive and looking forward to the day I can look back and tell others how worth it the surgery is. As it is, I am having trouble getting all of my protein and water in still. Doing my best. I dont have a lot of energy back yet and feel kind of blah half the time. Hang in there. -
3weeks post-op and I've had (so far) a three day stall already--Is this normal?

I am in the SAME EXACT BOAT. I was 24 pounds down at my 3 week appointment on Monday but haven't lost a pound since last Wednesday. Frustrating to say the least but I do agree that I still feel my body changing and clothes getting looser. My doctor said it's completely normal so I'm trying not to just get upset and keep trucking on. Hang in there. -
I was literally on the phone with my husband telling him how over the liquid phase I am when I clicked on this topic. I am really over it. My sleeve was on 4/22/13. I am really feeling good and 17 pounds down, but I need something more than liquids. I'm just hanging in there for these last few days but I totally agree. The liquid thing gets old. No fun.

I just joined today and am introducing myself like the welcome email suggested. I am 8 days post-op and feeling pretty good. Starting to get bored with the full liquids but I am looking forward to adding more variety next week with the pureed foods. I have only had 2 problems so far: protein shakes and a horrible allergic reaction to the surgical tape. The protein is probably my toughest challenge right now. I can't seem to find one that I can tolerate enough to allow me to get in my required amounts. I am averaging about half of what is recommended. I'm just going to keep working at it though. As for the allergic reaction, my abdomen is healing nicely from the incisions, but is red and inflamed from a horrible reaction from the surgical tape. My doctor's office assures me this is common and I also called my Dad(who is my PCP) and he confirmed it's very common. My skin is crawling though but at least it takes my mind off of only being able to have liquids. I continue to feel very lucky that I had the opportunity to get this surgery. My insurance covered most of the fees and my husband took money out of our savings for the rest. I am lucky I had coverage for it under my current insurance since my previous insurance did not cover it and I am lucky my husband is so supportive and allowed me to pay the copays. Feeling blessed. I am excited for the journey and my spirits are still high...now if I could only stop itching....

I am the same exact way. 8 days post op and have yet to find a protein that will allow me to get the recommended amount in. I am currently only able to choke down about half of what I am suppose to. The best I have found is the Premier Protein so far. The smell is also what gets me. It's not so much the taste, but you can smell it the entire time you drink it and it makes me gag also. I'm just hanging in there and getting as much as I can in.
