Hi All, Has anyone taken milk of magnesia to regulate bowel movements? If so, how long did it take before it worked its magic? The bottle says to take it before bedtime, but I'm wondering, I'm our stomachs are smaller now, does it work faster? I don't want to have to wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Thanks!!

So, yea. It's happened. You can probably assume that the main subject of this thread will be about a painful a*****e. You would be correct. Who has hemorrhoids? Did they fully go away? Did Prep H work? What else works? I feel like my a*****e has been raped by a bull. Thanks guys.

Do these little devils eventually go away? Or do you always get flare ups each time you poop?

A little is an understatement ????

Haha. Wow. Is anus better?
-
In case you didn't get it, a*****e really stands for *******.

I've never even been to a single support group meeting! -

First time at a real restaurant .....

I had similar concerns when I would go out to eat also. I honestly either pick off of other people's plates or I order from the appetizer menu. I used to order regular entrees but I realized although it may sound good at that point, it doesn't seem appetizing as a left over. In other words, if I want it then, I don't want it again later. It's also not very cost efficient. -
most people here will say "as soon as you're up for it." just keep in mind that you should keep it simple and stay away from the rough stuff

I'm obsessed too. I need to hide my scale. I've made it a habit to weigh in every morning it doesn't bother me if I don't see a change the next day, but if a few days go by, I start to get frustrated. Learn from my mistakes: hide your scale!! -

Hi all, just following up: sleeved 4/1 and down 75 lbs as of this morning. -
To be completely honest, I chose the sleeve because I didn't want a huge bulge in my stomach where the lap band port is. If you look at pictures, you can CLEARLY see something poking out of peoples' stomachs. The band vs sleeve recovery is mostly the same. Similar pre surgery diet and very similar post op diet. Good luck on your decision! My experience has been great. I went into surgery 4/1 and the next morning I was discharged. I was walking around the hospital 30 minutes after surgery. Recovery was really easy and I honestly felt fine. Some gas pain, some incision pain, but nothing I couldn't handle. I didn't even take any of the pain medication they sent me home with and I was back at work a week after being sleeved. My suggestion would be to read some of the forums here. There are several that are entitled "just got sleeved" or something similar. Poke around and make sure you're confident in your decision!

I've been struggling with always HAVING to clear my plate with every meal. I don't know what it is, but I hate seeing food go to waste. I guess celebrities and their commercials about starving children in Africa are to blame. What do you do to avoid eating everything on your plate? I don't always have access to weigh my food, especially when eating out. This makes it very easy to think "just one more bite" which becomes one bite too many. I've heard of people asking for to-go boxes as soon as they receive their meal. What else? I guess the right answer is "just shut your trap and stop eating."

Thank you so much for all of your responses! I remember when I was in kindergarten, or maybe first grade, the entire class sat around a table in the cafeteria with our teacher. She said "first person who finishes everything on their plate is the leader for the day!" The leader (in kindergarten) meant that you were the first person in line who led us to the classroom. Very serious business. I was first to each everything. Including the corn, which I hated. I even drank all the milk in the carton and crushed it up to prove that I had indeed cleared EVERYTHING off my plate. Yea, I was leader for the day, but that led to years of clearing plates and obesity. I'm only three months post op so I'm trying to get the hang of it. Usually, I'm pretty good at stopping when I feel full but sometimes I just have to have ONE LAST BITE. It's all trial and error. Sometimes it goes down fine, and others, not so much. The learning process continues. I use salad forks and small salad plates at home, and that usually works out fine since I can put it back in the fridge and not look at it again. Restaurants are a different story. Like someone said, appetizers at restaurants don't give the healthiest option. It's always fried calamari or fried chicken wings, etc. If I have to, (meaning I'm not in the position to share with people, like with my boss, or coworkers) I'll get a chicken sandwich and eat only the chicken. No bun, no tomato, no fries. Like I said, it usually works, but sometimes, I just HAVE TO have one last bite. I have no problems throwing stuff out of the fridge. Even if its two day old chicken, I'll throw it out because I know I won't eat it (I'm getting sick of constantly eating chicken as a protein) and it serves no purpose just sitting there. Thanks again for all of your responses and suggestions. Keep em' coming!

Thanks everyone! I still have yet to try it! I think I might wait until my day off so I can control the situation

I was sleeved with Dr. Munoz! He was awesome. There's nothing I would change about the whole experience. I was out of work for two weeks, although I felt like I could go back a week later. They give you up to a month off so it all depends on how you're feeling. Have you gotten a surgery date yet? Are you an insurance or self pay patient?
