    Im ticked- husband losing faster

BASTARDS!!!! I feel your pain! When I cook, I take my four ounces of chicken and sit and eat it while my BF eats his MASSIVE plate PLUS asks for seconds! I couldn't shovel that much into my mouth pre sleeve, let alone now. Sometimes I look at him basically inhaling his food and candy and Snacks and ice cream and chips and French fries (I could go on) and it literally disgusts me. It's really not attractive. I don't know if its an envy thing or just disgust, but damnit, I want to eat like that and lose weight too!! Plus, when he loses weight, he loses it twice as fast as I do and has the muscles to show for it! Wtf?!!
  2. I paid 16,500. I believe it should have been more (somewhere around 22,000) but since I paid in full, they charged me the reduced price. 5500 went to the surgeon 16 went to the hospital Plus I got dibs on what time I wanted to go in to surgery
  3. From personal experience, I never stopped smoking (except for the overnight hospital stay obv). My doctor knew I smoked and never told me to quit. Neither did the anesthesiologist. They both said that quitting can cause more of a strain on your body prior to surgery (not advocating it, just letting you know what they said). I smoked the day before and the day I was released. Haven't had a single problem with recovery. I've healed wonderfully, and I have no complaints. All I was saying was dont let people hound you for not quitting. Now, time for an afternoon cig
  4. No, thanks pumpkin! Won't be needing it

    psych eval

You're probably thinking too much into it. Just go in there, be truthful, and youll be out in no time!
  6. Aww! You look like a baby! So cute! Congrats on a job well done!
  7. I love how one question sets off a chain reaction or ridiculous responses. OP asked a question. Your job is to answer it to the best of your ability and move on. No one needs lectures on "transformations" and nicotine tests and second hand smoke. Let me get a step stool so you all can get off your high horses. SMH indeed.

    Birthday Blues

I feel your pain! I was on my preop shake diet on my birthday. Everyone was eating except for me. I felt like the black sheep that was sent up to her room with no dinner I kept telling myself that this time next year, I will be a changed person and today is just another day. It wasnt worth it for me. Even now, I'm 7 weeks post op, and I went to a graduation last week and had a bite of cake. It probably wasnt the best decision but it was one bite. My first slip up since my pre op shake diet. I took it with a grain of salt and moved on. I will tell you one thing though- that damn cake was delicious! lol Good luck to you!

    WTH?

LOL!!!! (This actually made me giggle out loud!)
  11. Hi Lisa, what does your scar look like? I've been looking into plastic surgery after getting the sleeve and I know a panniculectomy either has a large vertical and horizontal scar or one horizontal scar that goes from hip to hip. Also, how was your recovery?
  12. Best of luck to all of you!!! Remember: it's similar to a bad cut. The initial couple of days are the worst but it gets better soon! Sip sip sip!!!
  13. Thanks! At my one month post op I lost 34 pounds.
  14. It's been exactly 7 weeks since surgery (sleeved 4/1) and I have lost... (Drum roll please).... 50 POUNDS!!!!! I couldn't be happier! I'm also very fortunate to say that my recovery has been fairly easy. Aside from the initial gas pain, I was back to my usual self one week post op. I can't remember the last time I lost a substantial amount of weight - let alone 50 freaking pounds!!! To those of you reading this who are pre-op or "slow losers" just please know that it will happen and you just have to push through it. Keep a positive attitude! This is the best decision I have ever made. Can't wait for the next 50!! :)
  15. Thanks everyone! I'm sorry for bragging but I'm really excited about this!
  16. Many people have raved about palmers skin tightening lotion. I recently purchased some but I can't comment on its effectiveness yet. As far as loose skin is concerned- it does depend on a lot of things: age, weight, how long you have been heavy, etc. wit working out pre and post op will definitely help.
  17. I'm not having much trouble either. I can have maybe 7 or 8 normal sized sips. I just have to remember to drink more often!
  18. Hi everyone! I'm wondering how long you waited post surgery to eat Cereal. Also, what kind of cereal did you buy? I'm about 7 weeks post op and I've been feeling great (already lost 50 pounds). I'm sure I would feel fine eating cereal, but since we can't eat and drink at the same time, that kinda defeats the purpose of cereal also, most of the cereals I've seen have ridiculous amounts of sugar (20, 30g in a cup). I found a Special K cereal as well as Fiber one that has about 10g in 3/4 of a cup. I'm thinking this might still be a lot. Any ideas? How much sugar do you consume in a day? Thanks in advance for all of your replies!

What you wish you knew before the sleeve

I forgot! Sip (not gulp)! And not eating and drinking at the same time, and waiting to drink before and after meals!

What you wish you knew before the sleeve

I'm not a veteran by ANY means, but I did recently have surgery (4/1). I was up and ready to go by day 4 but my tummy definitely was not. It's hard in the beginning, especially with the post op liquid diet and puréed foods. For me, it was hard to eat 5 times a day and I had no idea how to get all of the recommended protein in. I didn't realize how hard it would be to keep up with drinking water and taking vitamins every day. The drinking is a full time job on its own! Another thing, although its insignificant, is dining with friends. I knew I wouldn't be able to eat out right away but now since I'm 7 weeks out, I want to hang out with friends and go out to dinner. Usually you can order off the appetizers to have a soup. I didn't tell many people about my surgery so many of friends didnt know. I gets tough having to make up excuses as to why you're eating so little. Also, I would recommend you start researching different protein shakes so you're ready after surgery. Good luck!

    Cereal?

Thank you for both of your replies! I bought the Special K Fruit and Yogurt (I ate it pre sleeve and figured it would be fine) as well as the Fiber One Honey Oat Clusters which both have about 10g sugar in a cup. I haven't opened them yet but I was thinking I should start taking some cereal to work with me since I'm getting tired of eating cottage cheese plus you don't really have to prepare anything (I like to get as much sleep in the morning as possible, lol). Laura, I get confused with the eating and drinking too, especially soups! I guess it's just trial and error. Anyway, maybe ill try some cereal tomorrow morning and ill see how it goes! Thanks again girls!
  22. I've been living off of diet Arizona iced tea with ginseng. It's delicious. Couldn't get water down post op either (I was sleeved 4/1). I tried the crystal lights and mios but they were too sweet for me. I say just try a little bit of everything until you find something that agrees with your new tummy!
