Good scale to weigh me and one for my food.......
Aries replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/Weighmax-Electronic-Kitchen-Scale-2810-2KG/dp/B000P1PJL4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1371577524&sr=8-3&keywords=food+scale It does the trick. Plus, it comes with the bowl, which is detachable, so its very easy to clean. I got it maybe a year ago, thinking i would need to replace it with a high tech one after surgery but it works just fine! -
Five months out, down ~80 lbs, but getting dizzy...
Aries replied to rmeofone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a dizzy spell once. I woke up and got out of bed and felt like the room was spinning so fast, I could barely stand. I laid back down and it went away in about 15 minutes. It hasnt happened since, and I'm hoping it never happens again. It was horrible! -
why do i want to eat....and eat at night?
Aries replied to pottergirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm in your boat! Pre-sleeve: Breakfast- large cup of coffee lunch (if any)- salad or wrap But when I got home, all hell breaks loose. I would make chicken alfredo, steaks, mac and cheese, etc. Then, maybe a couple of hours later, I would have leftovers. This lasted maybe until 11pm. I could not stop shoveling food into my mouth. It was unattractive and borderline ridiculous. Fast forward to April 1st - the day I got sleeved. Everything seemed to be going great for the first two months maybe. Lately, I've found myself going up to the fridge, opening it, and looking inside, thinking maybe something yummy will catch my eye so I can devour it. Not good. Last week I emptied the whole thing out. I threw away everything that could potentially trigger a food fest. All i have in there is 1% milk, cheese sticks, greek yogurt, grapes, sugar free iced tea, cold cuts, and grapes. The grapes are there as a treat since they do have a lot of natural sugar. I find that even if I do go up to the fridge and "hunt" for something eat, I dont find anything that I want. Nothing tastes as good as skinny (or healthy) feels -
I had the same issue with scrambled eggs. I eventually switched to egg whites and they went down much better. I even got those egg beaters which taste good too (plus, more protein)

I was sleeved on 4/1 at UM. Lost 62 pounds so far. Wishing all of you the best!

I got some 5 pound hand weights. In the evenings, when I'm watching tv, I grab those and do some weight training exercises. Do that for 15-20 minutes and I dont feel so bad for watching TV

Sleeved 4/1 at 25 years old. As of today, lost 61 pounds.

4/1 and down 56 pounds -
Hi everyone. I made a boo-boo. While I'm being honest, I made two boo-boo's. I had some friends over to watch the NBA Finals. None of them know I had surgery. Of course, they brought pizza. I took one bite from a slice of pepperoni pizza and picked off the remaining cheese. Then, yesterday I had maybe two handfuls of popcorn. With butter ???? It was bad but so good all at the same time. Any ideas what to enter into MFP for the pizza? Does anyone know how many calories that is? No need for the guilt trip. I know I screwed up. Thanks in advance!

Haha, I definitely didnt eat the whole pizza! I just wish I didn't have pizza only two months out! I thought maybe it would be okay at 7 months, but not two! I won't dwell. What's done is done!

SO Annoying! Anyone else share my frustration?
Aries posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went out to dinner with my boyfriend today (this is not the frustrating part, lol). He ordered half a dozen garlic rolls smothered in butter, rib rolls, full rack of ribs, and a brownie sundae. Oh, and 4 refills of his coke. I had half of a mahi sandwich without the bread and maybe a tablespoon of black Beans. Since I was done much earlier than him, I sat there and essentially watched him eat. At one point, just as a morsel of BBQ sauce started dripping down the side of his mouth, I felt a really strong urge to smack the ribs out of his hand and yell SSSTOOOOPPPPP EATINGGGGGG!!!! I mean, seriously. He INHALES his food. I could swear that sometimes he doesn't even chew it. It's really unattractive to see him eat so much. Does anyone else feel this way? Am I a horrible girlfriend? Lol Oh, and as I write this, he just went to the kitchen for a "tiny snack". Smh I know he doesn't order so much delicious food on purpose. He's a big guy (6'3" and maybe 220lbs) so I understand he won't be satisfied with a Caesar salad. But c'mon. Let me say one more thing: I have no desire to eat any of the stuff that he ordered. I was perfectly happy with my sandwich. but ordering and eating all that food?? Does anybody else get frustrated/annoyed/disgusted when watching people eat unhealthy food? Is it just me? -

To everyone who commented on this post: thank you! It feels good to know I'm not alone I hope everyone is doing well! -
Ditto. I'm just now starting to wear the jeans I saved years ago for "when I get back in the gym." I've lost about the same amount as you and I don't feel any different either. Although, people are saying that I look thinner. Curious about the responses we get on here.

Flannigans. I'm in south Florida. They're everywhere here but not sure about the northern parts -
Ummm, hello skinny minnie! You should be proud of yourself! What are you eating these days? are you exercising? do you have a nutritionist? so many questions, lol. You look great!

Some days are better than others! Dont beat yourself up over it. At least your recognize what you did wrong and you're working on it. Stay positive!!

liquids are your friend! You really should start looking for alternatives on things to drink. I hated Water in the beginning, until I found iced tea. The arizona diet green tea with ginseng was a life saver! I couldnt stand another crystal light packet! You are right though. Every doctor is different and everyone has different rules. I'm sure it doesnt help that your doctor and nutritionist disagree. However, if your doctor says you need to cut the shakes, then cut the shakes. Personally, I hated all of the Protein shakes. I couldnt stand the taste of any flavor. I mostly just get most of my protein from actual food these days (milk, cheese, chicken, fish, and my favorite: salmon sashimi). I say just try a bunch of different options, as far as liquids are concerned, until you find something you like. I'm sorry I couldnt be of more help!

I think it depends on what stage of food you are on. In the beginning, jello and yogurt would constitute a meal for me. Now, jello is more like a snack for me. Same goes for popsicles. I can still have a yogurt as a meal for breakfast but I prefer something like cereal or scrambled egg whites.

Okay... Can I just say that 1) thank you for being so brave and posting this thread and 2) you are not alone. I know exactly what you mean. I was with someone off and on for 10 years. 10 YEARS! He would cheat on me, we would break up, and I would take him back. THIS WENT ON FOR 10 YEARS! I tried very hard to justify to my friends why I would constantly forgive him. "He wont do it again" or "it was a slip. Anyone can have a slip, right?" or "He's really sorry and I love him." I knew why I was justifying his actions. Sure, he may have loved me. But he didn't love all of me. He cheated on me because he was looking for something different. Something/someone thinner, maybe? I don't know. I always knew, although I would never say it out loud, that I kept forgiving him because I thought I couldn't do better (I cant believe I just wrote that). No body could love me at my current weight (well, except for those people who have fat fetishes. To be honest, they creep me out anyway). Anyway, now that I'm sleeved, I find myself thinking about the same issues in your original post. I think about some of the men I've come across, and I know that they would not have given me attention at my highest weight. It comes down to the saying "If you don't want me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best." I hope someone has something insightful to say regarding this issue. Laura did mention a few great pointers. But I'm still left with the question in the back of my mind, "Would he still be here talking to me if I was heavier?" Perhaps we will never know. Again, thanks for posting.

What about the Nuvaring? I've been on Nuvaring for years and its amazing. Insert for three weeks and remove for a week for your period and then insert a new one. Very simple and I had no side effects from it. -

Thank you for all of your replies! It definitely helps knowing that I'm not the only one frustrated!
