  1. Hi all I'm going to get very personal with this question. I'm almost 3 weeks post-op. I may urinate three times a day and my first one of the day is dark yellow and when I have a bowel movement its like a small child use the bathroom. My question to everyone is in the beginning were you like this and should I be concern?

I went through the same thing. Trying increasing Fiber and fluids. And stool softeners are always helpful. When my urine is dark I know that is a sign that I'm not getting in enough fluids and then I increase it.

  2. This is my b4 and 2 day pic..I have to do this time to time for me to see the changes. I feel the changes in my clothes' date=' but not in the mirror...anyone else have this issues to?....

    [/quote']

I feel the same way. To me I look the same in the mirror, I really don't see it pics too much either. But everyone around me sees it. I feel like the scale is the devil. Lol

The scale says one thing and my clothes says something completely different. So I know that my weight loss is more in inches than in pounds right now. I was wearing a 26/28 pants and I bought a size 20 skinny leg jeans (haven't worn a 20 in about 21 years) yesterday and I was sleeved June 3rd. Still in the end I'm happy that I'm getting smaller and not bigger.

  3. Sleeved June 10' date=' and am down 42 pounds. I don't feel different (aside from pants feeling big) or think I look any different.

June folks, has anyone encountered pretty intense fatigue since surgery?

    Hope everyone is well![/quote']

I was sleeve 6/03 and also experience fatigue. My Nut told me to increase my Protein to 100-120 gms of Protein since I'm 6'0". It's been difficult for me to get in the extra cause sometimes I fall asleep by 7.

  4. You should definitely find out what their exact requirements are. I have Aetna and Aetna required at least two years of my weight being documented. I had switched PCPs (my previous PCP had died and no one could locate my records) I had only been with the new one for less than a year. Luckily I was able to get a copy of a visit from my gyne. It didn't matter that it wasn't my PCP, but as long as I had some type of medical documentation regarding my weight.

  5. So excited for you! That's great! And I will look into that evergreen hospital thank you! I've been getting some negative feedback from a couple friends today so I'm kinda down. I made the decision and I'm going to do this but it's so hard to hear "just really work out and eat right" and you're just gonna gain it back. I think I'm just not goingt to tell anyone anything from now on. Thank yiu for letting me vent!

You've made a decision that you feel is right for you and your health. You will have people that will have positive and negative comments, you are doing this for you and no one else matters.

  6. Today is the first day of my pre op diet... The count down has officially begun... 10 days to go...

You're going to do great. Don't be alarmed if you get a little whacky for the first few days. I felt like a crazed person the first few days until my body adjusted to the diet. I was also able to lose 9 lbs on the 10 day preop diet.

  7. i was sleeved on 6/24 trying to be more creative in what i eat as it is getting a bit boring but I won't do anything i am not supposed to yet. I had to fly today and flight connecting times were tight' date=' so stopped at McDonalds next to my gate, got a cheeseburger - only ate the meat and cheese with some mustard and the onions.

Thanks for Premier Protein - but hard to take when i fly

But what about chicken,,, I have heard so many say they struggle with chicken - why is that? is there a best way to have it?[/quote']

I have a problem with white meat. My Nut says that a lot of sleevers have this problem and should try to eat dark meat because it tends to be more tender and juicier than white meat and our skeeves are able to handle it better.

  8. I was wondering how I might feel a month out because I am attending a conference' date=' "PainWeek 2013" in Vegas the first week of September. Unfortunately this was planned and paid for last year. My surgeon has approved my trip since I will be traveling with my best friend who is a doctor.[/quote']

I didn't have pain at a month out. Decreased energy was my problem, but it was much better at 4 weeks then at two weeks and I could almost drink normally.

  9. Thanks Nicole.. You know I'm ready... Now that I actually have a date I've been busy as ever with everything!!! I have to get my kids ready for school and myself ready for a full work schedule starting 9/3 ...

When you blink, it will be the night before surgery and you will be thinking " what the heck am I doing?". Well at least that is how I felt.

  10. I was sleeved June 3rd and everything is going well. For everyone that is soon to be sleeved I want to let you that is normal to have concerns and a lot of what ifs. I have been there and continue to go through it.

I try to share as much of my experiences with the group as possible. I have learned the hard way that is not good to stock up on a lot of things, your taste for things will change. Mine taste from day to day and week to week. I have some Protein powders that are sitting in the cabinet because the sight of them discuss me right. So now I'm using different ones.

I have also learned so far that Georgette ( my sleeve) does not like processed cheese, Hawaiian punch, and has a love/hate relationship with chicken. Also, I can't seem to get enough of spicy things.

  11. Newbie here' date=' I'm Tracey westside of Chicago. I've been thinking about WLS since 2005. I haven't had a chance to start the process because of lifes ups and downs, but I'm ready to finally start the process. I've been morbidly obese my entire life... now that I'm older I'm ready to finally make a change. i'm currently under the BCBSIL ***... thur my employer and far as I know, I'll have to have a referral from my PCP on 9/10/2013... I also know that the surgery will be covered at 100% and all testing and specialist visit are covered with a referral with 10 co-pay...of course lol. Like I said before, I'm new to the process, so I'm hoping that things will go smoothly... considering that my first visit with my PCP, will be to get a referral to see the surgeon on 9/9/2013.

Does anyone else have BCBSIL ***? How long did it take for you to get approved?

Also, I want to say congrats to you guys for making the decision to change your life... to get healthy... and living a better life![/quote']

Congratulations on a new path in your life. Welcome to the group.
