I have a question for all you post-op people! I love, love, LOVE roller coasters! I'm wondering if after surgery I'll have nausea on the rides that "tickle" my tummy, or what it's going to feel like when you go down the steepest drop that usually makes my stomach "drop"? There is nothing better than throwing your arms up and letting gravity pull your butt off the seat on the big drops! I'd be so sad if rides felt different! Have any of you post-op people been on roller coasters since your surgery?

Well I don't know what's worse because I can't burp almost at all, even when I feel like I need to....I just have these tee-tiny burps.

Scared Shitless-8 years out banded rapidly gaining weight
MaddieJ replied to LifeLiver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a band for 8 years and I agree with Kimbaru... the sleeve is what the band promised to be. My wls finally works correctly for me! -
If y'all are sick of sweet flavors then try adding cucumber slices to ice water. It is a cool and crisp flavor that is perfect for summer. Also look into Tevana teas.... they are my saving grace so I don't get bored with water.

I'm about the same 600-800 cal a day. Someone suggested to me to increase my calories. I did increase my exercising. And I increased my water today! Fingers crossed something works! Good luck to you!

Oh definitely! But I am a bit sad that I didn't make my first short term goal. That feels a little like a failure.

I heard that there was a three week stall, does anyone know what's that about? When does it usually end? I got to my third week and I've only lost half a pound after four days. I hate to call it a stall because I can tell my stomach looks smaller and my clothes keep getting looser.... it's just frustrating that the scale numbers won't budge especially because I had a short term goal of 169 by the 7th and I'm still 5 pounds away.

Did anyone use Barker Bariatrics in Dallas?
MaddieJ replied to toxtomany's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know this post is old...but I thought I'd see if any of you know what size bougie Dr. Hodges uses? Both her and Dr. Barker did my surgery and this was the one question I forgot to ask! Super curious because I have a wonderful amount of restriction. I am only about 19 days out so I know that I will be able to eat more as time goes on, but its great so far. Also, are y'all still happy with your sleeve? Thanks!! -
I'm having surgery July 16th in Dallas. I'm 5'1" and 185. I just want to have someone to talk to as we go through this change in our lives!

I am almost 2 weeks post-op and I am constantly dizzy and EVERY time I eat anything I have to lay down because I get so sleepy I can't function! I take my vitamins, the doctor says I'm taking in enough protein and I drink enough water. I am perplexed by these symptoms....I wasn't having them until a couple of days ago. Confused! Dizzy!! and Sleepy!!!

Dizziness and Sleepiness!
MaddieJ replied to MaddieJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks y'all.... I think I will because it can't be normal. I was thinking that it might be from the influx of estrogen stored in my fat cells. I took progesterone for a short time and I had the same kind of dizziness. -

I didn't read all the comments so someone may have already said this.... I would do it because she will learn to eat healthy and learn portion control now while she is young. Things that we learn while we are young, especially habits, stick with us our entire lives. If she learns portion control now it will stick with her forever. I would suggest that she prove to you that she is serious by learning to eat healthy now. She can be losing while you go through the surgery, then once she SEES what you have to endure and helps you while you to through this very difficult surgery then if she still wants to proceed and she has been successful in learning how to eat healthy then I would let her proceed.

Be sure to get some rest tonight, that was one mistake I made!

Good luck to you and so glad you made it in the July group!

No I'm not crazy.... it's just that starting the liquid diet stage means my surgery date is almost here!!!! Every time I want to cheat I think of how close I am to surgery (16th)!!! On a side note... if you are looking for s variety of flavors on a liquid diet then Teavana teas will help! I ♥ them! There are so many types and they are loose leaf so you can mix them. Blueberry Bliss mixed with strawberry Lemonade is heavenly. My daily tea is Earl Grey Cream. They are so healthy and tasty! If you do get some then be sure to get a "perfect tea maker", it's around " $15. The tea itself can get pricey when you try lots of different flavors. Good luck to all!
