surgery cancelled! ugh
MaddieJ replied to Emilysmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg.... I'm speechless.... that's horrible! I'm so sorry and I agree you need to be a squeaky wheel and complain tomorrow. They could re-run the UA prior to your surgery- on the same day! Good luck! -
Yay!!! I'm so excited! I'm having a revision. So I'm most nervous about getting my band out. Do you have to do a pre-op diet?

One of my co-workers that got sleeved was having the same problem and she wasn't losing any weight. She decided to start over with her doctors post-op instructions. She is losing again and has cut out alcohol. She looks great! Good luck to you!!!!! -

Oh and I'm curious.... is the back pain up between your shoulder blades or a few inches below that, right in the middle? -
Weird burning pain 9 months out...
MaddieJ replied to Angel Rae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If it's not that then they'll have to run more tests but I'm sure your doc will go over that with you. The HIDA scan is temporarily (minute or two) painful and makes you feel like you're going to vomit IF there is an ejection problem. So you'll know that if it becomes painful with severe nausea after they inject some medicine in your IV then you have a gallbladder issue. Just wait for the test to finish and your doc to get the results and go over them with you. -

You need a HIDA scan to check the function of your gallbladder. You don't have to have stones to have problems. If your gallbladder isn't ejecting efficiently then you'll have symptoms the same as stones without having the abnormal labs, abnormal sono and such. Good luck! -
I have not started my pre-op diet yet but I thought I'd be supportive and tell you that it's not uncommon for the body to hold onto extra pounds for a few days because it's in shock about the change in your diet. You may end up losing a bunch all at one time once your body realizes you're not going to starve it! Good luck and I hope your surgery goes well!

I'm in Texas.... I'm real worried about getting in enough Water at Six Flags. I usually drink tons because it's so hot here. At six weeks can you drink a bunch? -

i am such a hypocrite!
MaddieJ replied to kchristian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I just say as a pre-op person I feel like a hypocrite because I get on here while I'm eating! I did the same thing when I quit smoking... I increased my smoking while I stayed on a quit smoking website. It's like I transition one addiction onto another! I'm taking the advice of another person on this site tho.... I'm about to start dieting pre-op (after my b-day on Tuesday)! Until then I will feel like a hypocrite while I'm eating when I'm surfing on here. As for the OP.... try to change your irritation into sadness for their addiction. I will always be a food addict just like I will always be a smoker- I'll just be a food addict that chooses not to indulge....lol...and that also chooses not to smoke! Lol -
I'm July 16th too! Yay us!

Hey! I'm July 16th in Dallas Tx! I'm having it done at Doctors Hospital. I start my pre-op liquid diet a week before and I have to do clear liquid a week after, then cream soups for a week, then soft foods for 2 weeks. Glad to have another July 16th person on here! ~Madeline

Well I guess it's better to be addicted to this site than candy crush saga (my former addiction) or food.... my lifetime addiction!

Feel like a failure :(
MaddieJ replied to JessicaAnn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel! I expect I'll cry when I end my love affair with sugary sodas. I know they can make my sleeve a failure so I'm saying goodbye to them forever before I get sleeved. It makes me sad and disgusted with myself at the same time. :-P
